Finding and getting a bargain

Hi guys

With the benefit of experience picked up on here, I have written an article on How to Score a Bargain.

I was curious for feedback on it.. do people think it's accurate?
Have I missed anything really obvious?

I know I could have covered lots more specific areas, but was trying to keep it fairly general.

Be gentle please lol.
And yes, I do receive a couple of cents per read.
TIA

  • There are so many ways to get bargains, it would be hard to list especially as things are constantly changing. Take for example, the latest flight deals to the US where you buy them through Expedia Ireland. Or voucher/group buy sites.

I'd mention some price comparison sites. E.G. Google Shopping (Will pickup Officeworks etc. whereas Staticice won't).

Also for cheap electronic crap, there are a whole bunch of other ones but can't forget the other big one, Focalprice. For legit appliances, the trend is moving toward buying from Amazon, B&H Photo, Hong Kong sites for a fraction of what you would pay here.

Cashback such as Starthere/Buckscoop make purchases a bit cheaper. Gift cards to major retailers can be had at discount through certain clubs/Entertainment book/eBay.

Good article. I guess there are so many angles to go at this topic, it's hard to fit in 1 blog post.

  • Thanks for that feedback Neil, it's very useful.

The price comparison link was helpful. I hadn't realised that Google Shopping is covering Aussie stores, last time I checked it was pretty much all American.

Focalprice is a good alternative to Dealextreme, although I thought they don't have as large a range.
Not sure whether it's just me, but in the last year DX prices seem to have climbed significantly, with far fewer bargains.

And you're right, once you start on the topic more angles keep appearing :)
