I found an unused 2 pack of the Asus AX1800 ones for just over $200 at CashConverters online so worth checking Gumtree etc too.

"unused at CashConverters". That's a nice way of saying stolen.

      • You do wonder.

This is UK version of routers which misses some Australian Wireless bands. Am I right?

    • Important question, previous UK models hardware locked out, channels 149-165 on the 5ghz band.

They're now legal in the UK I believe, but some manufacturers are being tardy enabling it. Older models can't.

  • If you can get the XT8 for a similar price, go for that as they are tri-band so have a 6hhz separate backhaul frequency between nodes/mesh units, so it's not sharing with your normal traffic.

Edit: wow the price of the XT8 has jumped. Maybe absence-of-reflected-light Friday might have some deals.

I might be wrong, but when i looked into it earlier this year and if you want to use wired backhaul then this is the one to get as it is cheaper than the XT8. IMHO wired backhaul is better then wireless backhaul. So this comment isn't entirely incorrect.

While the XT8 also has wired backhaul - you can just get this one for cheaper

      • Yes, if you can do wired backhaul, but I'd suggest that most people with mesh can't, otherwise you'd just get a router and some wired AP's and save your money.

With a tri-band setup our backhaul is close to 7-800mbps, which for is is close enough to 1gbps for us (we only have a 100mbps internet). With this, your sharing backhaul and bandwidth so you essentially half your speeds (if you max out your connection).

And yes the XT8 has wired + wireless backhaul, so you can get much faster internal network speeds if you really require it.

I paid under $550 for a pair of XT8's from wireless1 last year, hence my original comment and then edit after I realised the hedt price increase.

        • How far apart are your XT8's? 6GHz backhaul would theoretically mean you'd have to put them closer to each other than a 5GHz backhaul

  • DO NOT BUY THIS,
best to buy locally or price match if possible, I won't buy this if even $100 as it has problems, this has been posted a few times and a few people keep warning others not to buy this

    • And details/links?

      • -6

feel free to research it yourself,
This is an exceptional unit to buy if brought locally but a nightmare if brought internationally

        • research it yourself,

Yet another s*post then. Good onya mate.

          • -3

@M00Cow: Nope love the unit if brought locally.
I suggest if you are too lazy to research it then just buy this international version so next time you can have first hand experience.

@michael9865: Where should I bring it from?

            • @michael9865: So "it's crap, I won't say why, I know a secret, but won't tell anyone" yeah you're just a s'posting bot. The do your own research bit gives it away. Let me guess it has 5g and bill gates will eat your babies?

If you weren't a bot you'd have read my comments above…bit obviously haven't even done that, let alone done any research

              • @M00Cow: People are not in your service to do your research for you ! Ozbagain is not a court or nature magazine to back uo your claims with evidence..its a community to help each other for a bargain and a fellow ozbargainer warned you about his experience about dealing with international warranty service and you want him to prove it? What kind of spoiled kid you are !!?

People are not in your service to do your research for you !

No, but your botbro shouldn't make spurious claims about something being crap without stating why. Can't do research without having any info to start researching with.

@M00Cow: I dont know what you mean most of my technology is 5g, I usually get the most latest tech just like i got a new s21 ultra for $400 last year or s22 ultra for $600 this year, do your own research to find out how i did that if you want.

        • You mean like I mentioned above MixhealsBot's original comment here?

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12968648/redir

Unlike MichaelBot, I spelt out the concern and asked if it was still an issue, rather then just say don't buy this without an explanation.

          • @M00Cow: Umm you're welcome?

I too am looking to purchase the XD6, I did my research (after the lack in info here) and found my answers in that forum.

Wasn't hard all I did was read all of Jack's (Asus Aus) responses to everyone's questions.
