Apparently not so easy with Home Assistant based on review on Amazon. Anyone/OP successful with HA integration?

I bought these Melross plugs as they were on sale and so almost half the price of the TP Link Kasa KP115 "equivalent". I should have spent the extra $$. Firstly, you can't plug anything else into the powerpoint as this unit takes up alot of real estate. (I knew that going in) Secondly, they are easy enough to set up with the Melross app, however, I'm still trying to workout how to integrate them with Home Assistant. Painful. Very painful. Also, I'm of the understanding that Melross aren't too keen on you polling it's website too often or with more than 5 devices. Thirdly, the app doesn't give you "live" data, just a snapshot of the power it is using when you access the power menu. You have to exit the power menu and re-enter it to get it to re-read the power consumption. So save your money and spend a bit more on the TP Link KP115's, they just work and integrate with Home Assistant easily.

Works fine with the Meross LAN integration: https://github.com/krahabb/meross_lan

That's one of the key things I wanted to check, thanks for posting this.
I'll hold off until something more Home-Assistant friendly comes through.

Don't hold back, these work just fine, provided you're ok with stuff like HACS or manually installing meross lan.

    • Been using it quite easily on HA to measure my dryer Power and tell Google Home when the drying is done, based on dropped power. Very handy.

Also, when had mining PCs used to work out whether it's still profitable to continue mining.

Works fine in HA, have 8 running connected atm, showing in HA power dashboard.

Turns out all that “computer stuff” doesn’t use have as much power as I thought it did! The pool pump on the other hand…

  • Pulled the trigger, thanks OP. We'll see how this goes…..

    not the homekit/apple compatible version :( :(

Hey Siri, turn on my phone charger…..uh oh!!

    • And the Homekit / Apple version doesn't have power monitoring. Go figure.

You may be able to use these with Homekit if you have HomeAssistant the HomeKit addin.

Oh, that’s pretty annoying, as it was the energy monitoring that was the attraction for me, you line newline, Go Apple

        Thanks for the heads up

  • Thanks OP. I ordered one.

  • Al can anyone confirm if the energy monitoring is only about to be aggregated at a daily basis?

What about it this was integrated with home assistant? Is there a way to extract this data out?

Is there any good alternative to these that works well with HA, but is also small enough to allow access to the second power point on the same wall plate?

    • Probably tapo slim/mini plugs. I ordered using jb hifi perks voucher and was $11 each for the power monitoring versions.

  • $69.99?

    • Just expired it looks like. I marked the deal accordingly.

Deal is back if you wanted it.

thanks. i just bought the 4-pack item.

      • hey, could you please link it? I can't seem to find it. Also, do all versions of Tapo plug com with Power Monitoring? Cheers.

        • This deal is just at the top of the page but click here if you're having problems.

Tapo plugs have 2 different versions - with and without energy monitoring. In those 2 versions there's also slim and standard (blocks adjacent outlets)
