I just use shot glasses to prepare whiskey and coke, moderates the serving portions too xD

    • +3

These are for neat whisky (and gin and potentially other) drinking.

      • -5

In that case, who needs a glass just drink from the bottle save $7 and retain your class

Don't have this exact one but you'd want that bottom bit to be relatively chunky so it provides ample weight.

        • The bottle doesn't "properly" provide the aromatics for most alcohols.

          • +1

@Lukian: You just need to swish it in your mouth and let it aerate like wine

If you haven't caught on by now, I'm joking.

        • hmm exactly what brakus said below.

          • +1

@CyberMurning: Whiskey glasses are supposed to have thick bottoms so that unwanted user interaction (such as temperature fluctuations) are kept to a minimum. Thinnish rim, thick base.

But enough about that, I want to go back to being ignorant xD

  • +1

thanks question is should i buy 1 or 2

    • can you use BFUND10 multiple single purchases?

    • +1

      Always in pairs

  • +1

I have this but preferred the weighted whisky glass.

    • example?

    • +1

Weighted is only good for when drinking with ice. Otherwise these or Norlan Whisky Glass,

      • +1

Yes. I drink whiskey with ice only.
Somehow, I don’t really see the benefit in these glasses.

        • +1

Glencairns are by far the best design - if you do a side by side comparison of nosing whisky/whiskey it's a stark contrast to traditional glassware. Taste less so but there's still a difference and for some whisky/whiskey the nose is superior to the taste anyway haha

          • -2

@sakurashu: That’s what marketing says and that’s also why I bought them. But in practice, these glasses don’t really deliver the hype.

            • @Brakus: I respectfully disagree - I have many in this shape and would never go back.

What specifically are you drinking in them? Have you thought it may have something to do with the type of whisky/whiskey or even your own sense of smell? Do you inhale with your mouth open or closed?

      • -1

Riiight. After a certain point it's all in your head

        • +1

Yea it's really not, but all good if you aren't into it.

  • +14

Was going to get them for my brother who is the whiskey drinker in the family…………but hes a jerk

  • +1

I just bought some for my mate with a bottle of whisky common now I'm going to grab myself some thank you very much

Unfortunately oos, won't let me add to cart

  • +8

I use the freeby Hungry Jacks glass cups from last year to drink everything…

    • OOS, reported.

    • On a serious note, the Quarter Pounder glass cup from Maccas (a few months ago) is pretty much a great rocks glass. Looks great, big, and fits any ice you put in it.

      • I got about 10 of the Hungrys ones.. they are great for drinking fluid out of … even on ice.

      • Honestly the Macca's glasses are amazing. I'd have happily paid for them.
Not the one that spun everywhere though, that would've just pissed me off.

  • Damn that's quick, waa trying to work out my ebay login. Sigh

  • What about some more half price umbrellas Peter?

  • Just put the $7 towards whisky freedom. Free glass with ticket.

Altho the nuggets jacked up the price last year by quite a bit, and the offering was not great…

  • -3

I have these and honestly don't bother. As others have said heavy glass crystal is the go and I never use these.

  • +4

There are only TWO glasses to get for drinking whisk(e)y neat: Glencairns, and copitas (those small tulip shaped wine glasses you get for free at wine tastings/festivals). Everything else is a waste of money. Forget Riedels and Denver & Liely and other over-designed glasses; I've tried them all. I prefer copitas because it has a stem, but I repeat GLENCAIRN OR COPITA. That's all you need, forget the rest!

    • +1

yeah +1 for copitas, starting to come around to those from glencairns.

    • GLENCAIRN OR COPITA.
Except when you are hitting peaty whiskies haha. For my non peat whiskies yes I agree with you, otherwise I want a bigger opening otherwise all you get is MASSIVE peat smell everytime.

      • You'll get use to it. You don't have to stick your nose in there

        • It’s all I had for years. Now I have various glasses.

    • All you need is a bottle of whiskey, ice and weighted glass. Sit back and enjoy

      • Heavy tumblers gets a free pass for cheapish high ABV bourbon/rye like Bookers, WT Rare Breed or Rittenhouse on the rocks in summer.

        • -1

Disagree. Heavy whiskey glasses go well with cheap or expensive whiskey/brandy/cognac.
Don’t let marketing hype and unique glass shape create the illusion of sophistication resulting in snobbish perceptions and disregard on anything that is not glencairn or copita

          • +1

@Brakus: Ok. Next time I drink with a distiller, distributor or brand ambassador, who almost exclusively use copitas (what marketing hype?), I'll let them know some rando on OzB said tumblers are better for nosing.

            • @rosebank: I am referring to drinking and enjoying whiskey. Not nosing in particular. It is logical these are best for nosing bec of the narrow opening. But despite all that info and brand you just mentioned, at one point, its all in the head

              • @Brakus: To be more specific…in the nose, and brain. As Heston B (among others) has shown many times there's a clear link between smell and taste.

You can drink anything out of whatever container you like and enjoy it - nothing wrong with that, but as with beer and wine, some glasses enhance the experience.

              • @Brakus: You just conceded that the glasses I mentioned are better for nosing, and then say it's all in the head. Nosing is like a third of the whisky experience, if you want to skip that part and just drink and enjoy, more power to you.

                • -1

@rosebank: You’re right. I inhaled the alcoholic fumes the whiskey emit once or twice in these glasses and didn’t bother anymore after that…

    • but what if drink with ice ? (just 1 small cube)

      • +1

Tumbler. Or skip the ice and add water into a Glencairn or copita

        • thanks……. and i just realised this deal is for Glencairn ! almost thought this one is so so. lucky i bought 1.

      • I have a big stash of copitas I got for free. Copitas are super common, you can probably go to a hospitality or catering place and get them for a few bucks.

    • Yup. Luigi snifters are the goods. Cheap and perfect.

  • +1

I used this when I first started drinking, but now I use a heavy crystal whisky glass which fits a single ice cube nicely

    • Same here. Always go back to the weighted short glass with wide opening

    • What size glass is best for a whiskey such as this?

      • Any of those crystal whiskey glasses. The heavier ones feel nicer in the hand.

        • You mentioned fits a single ice cube nicely and it made me wonder about the ideal size glass. I see some 380ml glasses, some 270ml etc. I generally drink neat but have friends that like an ice cube.

  • Two for $20 for members at DM if you missed out.

Great glasses if you appreciate the nose/aromatics of your spirit, pointless if you add mixers like coke, dry, soda etc.

  • +1

    Available again. Just ordered.

  • Is it 1 glass or 6 - says six piece ?

    • +1

      One

  • -3

    Fugly looking glass

    • +1

thats why we put and drink whisky on/from it.
trust me after a while the glass looks wonderful…

same applies to partner in life

  • Did you know you can roll your glencairn on the table with one 30ml serve of whisky inside and it won't spill?
