Budget Gaming Laptop under $1000 - Possible Links in Comments (Black Friday 2022 Deals)

Hi guys, am wanting a cheap(ish) gaming laptop for my daughter, who wants to play things like Minecraft, Roblox, Genshin, and Stray (the recently released Cat game).

I've found what I think is a pretty good deal here:

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i Laptop
https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0B2JR5PRB/ref=s9_acsd_al_bw_c2…

It's $100 over budget but seems like a good deal for the specs, and it would theoretically last a few years.

I'm looking at the RTX 3050 graphics cards, but would a 1650 still be okay as well?

If the 1650 is okay, here is another option:
ACER Nitro 5 AN515-57-506M Gaming Laptop
https://www.amazon.com.au/ACER-Nitro-AN515-57-506M-Gaming-La…

Any other Black Friday deals around that are comparable, ideally under $1000?

Thanks for any advice!

Jarrod Tech's Video on the difference between 3050 and 1650 laptop performance.
In summary, averaged about 25% extra performance for the 3050 in normal rendering but also supports DLSS so brings the difference closer to 50% in games that support it.
I would 100% avoid 1650 unless significantly cheaper.

try to get a laptop with at least RTX3060, ex: there were Acer Nitro 5 with RTX3060 deals closer to $1000

See some of the gaming laptop posts
The Asus TUF RTX 3050 is a better buy at $1050 than the IdeaPad you listed

Worth considering if you need a 'gaming' laptop at all
A non-gaming laptop may be more portable, better battery and be suitable for school as well
Price and/or overall quality of machine can be improved if you don't need that level of GPU or even a dedicated gpu at all
Minecraft and Roblox would run on integrated graphics with no problems - research the others too
Do some research and buy appropriately

    • what would you recommend for about the $600-700 mark light gaming and school laptop? Clueless mom here

      • Your needs in order are
Battery Life - battery to last a whole school day - 6 hours plus - possible to get on 2nd hand or cheaper machines - read reviews and these forums
Size and Weight - a 13" or 14" screen with weight under 1.5kg is what you want
Build Quality - a machine that can take a knock or two - there is an option to get a hard case but adds weight - at least get a padded sleeve for the backpack
Performance - For Windows minimum 8gb ram

For school you don't need the most powerful processor or dedicated graphics
All they use is web and office - even an entry level machine will do if it ticks the boxes above
have a look in the Dell outlet, the refurb sites - or watch the forums :)
