The 45L is $50 dearer than last OzB deal when Jaycar were clearing them: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/728873

The difference is they were "clearing" them, whereas they are a staple line for us at a discounted rate

      • Welcome to ozbargain, we only care about all time low prices.

      • Come on, that's a bit of a furphy.. Jaycar / RTM are a Rovin seller just like yourself…. but they are also the distributer for Rovin (making it tough for you to compete).

They try to upsell Brass Monkey (which is the exact same Rovin fridge but has an extra year warranty…which technically the Rovin has anyway under ACL). So you can pay more for the same fridge with a different badge if you want.

I'd prefer to buy from Mitre 10, but the price difference was too much. So 3 days ago I bought a Rovin 45L fridge / freezer combo for $249, and the 5.2ah batteries were $37 (50% off at the moment).

Now Jaycar is not popular here. Basically were caught out with a dog act / stealing intellectual property situation. So people would definitely buy from you over Jaycar if there was some price parity, or close to it. But you need to lure the manufacturer away from Jaycar as the distribution point, or find your own Rovin.

Just to reiterate … batteries were 50% off yesterday. Still might be ..not sure.
They are.only 11.1v ( x amp hour). So using your say, 4ah 18v drill battery with an adaptor will last longer (you multiply the voltage x amp hour rating to get full capacity). But for $35, you get a battery case that plugs straight in, can adapt that later if you want.

        • They have a new battery model number . but it has exactly the same cells and capacity (even though the website shows the new 5.2ah has some rediculous figure 1890 watt hours or something like that…it does not, it's the same, just different finger holes for carrying it.

They actually ended up dropping them to $249 so $100 cheaper..

    • Can still get them cheaper at Road Tech Marine, need to find in store though. I ordered and received one online a week or so ago. Then managed to get a new cover from ebay for about $90.

Not a bad fridge/freezer, the temperature fluctuates a bit. I have both sections set to 4c atm and it's been as low as 0c and high as 6c. Each section also seem to hover around different temperatures. It'll be interesting to see if the insulated cover assists in some consistency.

      • BCF had XTM fridge covers for $10.

I haven't taken my Rovin fridge out the box yet, but the compressor and wheels were in the same spot as XTM. Figure a few extra cuts maybe needed.

I'll check tomorrow and report back.

*Note - so many fridges are dark grey or black. This is beyond stupid. Unfortunately the XTM covers are no exception. So you might want a white towel / silver car shade over the top..

Holy cr*p a fridge that has a portal?

    • Welcome to 2022 where anything is possible!

  • Any deals on the covers? Cost killer if you want it to be insulated

  • All have been/are much cheaper at Jaycar.

  • Oh - Take note of the top seal around the lid. This is the only fridge that doesn't have a complete seal (it has a 1.5cm gap).

I assume this is to prevent a vacuum from closing, then opening again real quick. Cold air technically falls. But no other brand has it. I'll check out if any cold air leaks when the fan is running with an IR gun. Suspect it will, so I'm going to put a piece of weather seal across it. Insulation is king.

  • Mighty Ozbarginers… anyone knows whats the average energy comsuption of those portable freezers, if compared with normal home freezers? I was unable to find a useful google answer for it. Currently considering a freezer but dont know will the mobility justify the cost if I would mainly use it in home.
