Geez HFW's price drop is surprising for such a game in less than a year. I actually liked it much better than the first part.

    • +2

I have the platinum for both games.

HZD:FW's world map was unnecessarily large. The antagonists had intriguing origins but their characterisations were pretty one note. I liked learning more about Ted Faro though.

But yeah, shooting dinosaur parts off with bows was still satisfying.

    • +10

It got somewhat forgotten after elden ring blew it out of the water

      • +1

iAgree. Played Elden Ring right after HFW. Was so much more memorable and worthwhile.
Still HFW is the third best game U have played this year

        • +1

I got both on launch and like many, I moved to Elden ring when it dropped. Coming back to HFW after post launch patches and I personally can't believe I put it down (even for Elden Ring), they feel way too different in play style and difficulty, both easily must play titles in my opinion and at $39 this is a no brainer.

        • +5

How are they an Xbox fanboy when Elden Ring was multiplatform, exactly?

            • +3

@mmcgr97: So am I an Xbox fanboy for agreeing wholeheartedly with what they said? Despite playing both on the PS5?

            • +3

@mmcgr97: Get some sleep. It's multi platform.

Console wars are for people 30 years ago.

              • -5

@scuderiarmani: Xbox fanboys still use it as console war ammo, especially against Forbidden West

                • +2

@mmcgr97: Think I'll just block you, I don't think I can handle your wisdom.

        • +1

          found the xbox fanboy

Tell us you're a PlayStation fanboy without telling us you're a PlayStation fanboy.

        • I have a ps5 and switch lol

        • +2

xbox fanboy…?? what is this 2002? lol

    • -2

Its not a very good game and thats coming from someone who finished the first one.

      • I didnt like the first one much. This one I actually liked

        • +5

Open world games full of pointless quests, dont have time for that these days.

          • @noise36: Not an Assassin's Creed fan then….

          • @noise36: For games like the creed ones yes. But plenty of others which have good quests.

      • -1

        It's an amazing game

      • +2

I would have to agree. Didn't enjoy the 2nd one.

    • +3

That's the beauty of physical games!

    • +1

pretty normal timeline for price drop actually. most ps games drop a bunch after 3 months, and considerably 6-12 after that… don't see anything weird about that?

bought it at launch, and subsequently didnt touch it when elden ring came out. got to it midyear, and it's a good game, but i dont think its better than the first. the story becomes clunkier and it doesn't really do anything to surpass zero dawn… aside from that, hate to think how much money they actually lost by going up against game of the year, again. lol. incompetence or bad luck, probably both.

  • +4

    good value, amazing game

  • +1

Suprised there hasn't been any GOW Ragnarok deals yet

    • +10

GOW Ragnarok just came out I doubt we will see a price anytime soon.

    • you could already get it for $80 on launch… i feel shortchanged by it, fun but not quite lived up to the hype. tho that price feels about standard for a new game, especially an overdue PS4 DLC expansion pack addon to 2018's GOTY.

ragnarok will be sub $50 by early next year. $20 or so by mid next year…

      • -1

Tell me you're a salty failbox fanboy without telling me

  • +22

PlayStation games lose their value so fast I love it, just let yourself get behind by about a year and you get to play all the same games at 1/3 of the cost, it's awesome

    • +12

I just got a ps5 and never had a PS4. PS plus extra is going to keep me going for years without buying a game.

      • +8

I highly encourage every Ozbargain member to read this guys post history.

Posts only on PS deals except an Xbox one to troll.

        My gosh…. Some epic posts.

        • +3

Good read, my god what a whinefest

          • +4

            @cook99: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/407360

good god this guy is touched in the head… or by sony

GT7 on ps5 is a good deal… new 25th anniversary update is out

            $39 is effectively half price

            • +2

@tonyjzx: Nah, definitely touched in the head!!!

              • @stillloutthere: They really don't like last of us part 2 huh? Sounds like good motivation for me to finally play it.

                • @filmer: They are incredibly confused regarding their subjective reality versus (the possibility of) objective reality.

      • +3

This is not a dig at PS or Sony.
I have all 3 consoles, all great in their own right
        Switch for kiddo games
Xbox game pass is incredible value with the Eneba deals
PS5 exclusives are awesome if you wait a year for them to tank in value
        Everyone is a winner

      • +9

someone let their 8 year old on Ozbargain.

        • +3

I don't know why Mods bother with such. Just get rid of them. Clearly nothing redeeming.

Not a single post with more up votes. Ever. That's an incredible effort.

Cue someone up voting him now lol

        • That's a pretty generous assessment.

  • +1

Solid deal. Now I just need a PS5

    • +2

Ragnarok PS5 bundle available on Amazon for $888 if you’re interested. Delivery not for 10 days or so though.

      • Thanks for the heads up I’ll get that bundle.

  • +1

Is GT7 better than the mess it was on release or still shit?

    • +6

Not really. Even with the recent update, their first "big" update I guess seeing as it adds a new track and supposedly the feature to sell cars, it's still barely a shell of what the series used to be. Even GT Sport has more content.

      • +2

I had to download 100gb of content before I could even start playing!

      • +2

Yeah right, I'll skip it cheers for the reply 👍

    • +2

i got it for the single player and realised i hate virtual cafes.

    • +2

It is better than on release. People will bag it out but it really is much better than it was on release day.
There was a good update just today.

      • +1

Yeah, I love it. I'm not a super hardcore GT or racing sim fan, I rarely sit down and play it for hours on end. But I do still play it most days, I'll give it a quick bash for 15-30 minutes, just a couple or races or 10-15 laps of a circuit on time trial before I move onto whatever the "main" game I'm playing at the time is. Certainly don't think there's a lack of content - I've got over 200 cars in my collection already, and apparently that's less than half of what's in the game (more than 450, apparently? I haven't counted), and there's plenty of circuits / variations. Of course it would be nice to have more, but you could double the amount of content there and you'd still say it'd be nice to have more. That doesn't mean there isn't plenty already.

And yeah the new update is good - I've been hoping they'd add the M2 since launch, so I'm happy. Now I just want them to add the new RS3 to sit alongside the M2 and the AMG A45 to complete the compact performance car lineup of my dreams :D

        • I'm top 50 Oceania in GT7 Sport Nations Cup/Online competitive mode.
It's worthwhile giving Sport mode a crack. It's got a great community once you move to at least B grade Driver Rating.

        • Same, even used the $10 perks to get it down to $39… Should’ve known better with BF sales

          • @Suprahoward: I used perks voucher too which means my invoice shows $39 so guess can’t use the price guarantee..

      • 87 people in the queue

        • Got $10 back by ringing 1300721541. They have a 14 day policy.

Also got $10 back from Amazon.

          • @boxall: Did you use $10 JB perk coupon for your purchase?

            • @thunderhead: Yes. So now $29.

              • @boxall: Tried onece on live chat and once on phone, refused to refund the difference since I've used perks to purchase it for $39 last week.

      • Thanks, I bought my copy 4 days ago and live chat support will refund me the $10.

        • I’ll try my luck too

    • Same…

    • Same here. The game is still in wrap.

  • +3

Amazon better price match Horizon Forbidden West…

  • +8

Thanks OP! Used my $10 Perks that I received initially and HFW cost only $29 :)

    • I’d do this if delivery wasn’t $6 for some reason or could be bothered to pick up

    • +1

      Ah thanks for reminding!
      Now i will get one

    • +2

      Made another perks account, thanks

Yes, discounting games, even the ones that have been successful and released recently, is a very common practice from a lot of companies.

Not all companies are greedy like Nintendo.

    • +3

Not all companies are greedy like Nintendo.

..All companies are 'greedy'.. their one job is to create profit for shareholders lol

If Sony thought they could charge full price after 3 years they'd do it in a heartbeat

      • -3

They don’t do it, just like MS, they always do these kind of deals.

        And thanks for the Neg.

    • +1

Not all companies are greedy like Nintendo.

They're all the same. Just look at what Sony did to the PlayStation 5 console RRP recently.

    • Nice flawless logic.

Do you think these games will be dominating sales charts 8 years after launching like Mario Kart 8?

Have a guess why Sony couldn't charge $125 for these games in 8 years?

      • GTA V have been dominating charts since 2013, full price or not.

But Take Two DID decreased the RRP, unless Nintendo.

Horizon Forbidden West may now be best remembered (for better or worse) as the game that got overshadowed and destroyed by Elden Ring and the subsequent meltdown by some of its development staff, but this is a very tempting price…

    • What happened to its development staff?

      • There was some internet drama, back in April. Essentially a dev was salty that Elden ring got a great metacritic score, and bemoaned that it didn't have that 'ubisoft' formula applied to it.

    • +2

And the original was overshadowed by Zelda BOTW, really didn’t time their game releases well.

  • +1

Is it worth getting GT 7?

    • +5

      For $39 yes definitely

  • +1

    Will it drop further?

I don't wanna be that guy getting people on market place down to $20 🤩🤣

  • Didn't expect it to drop further from the sale price of 49. Odd.

  • Does anyone know if GT7 is at it's lowest price or has it been lower?

    • +1

      Lowest I’ve seen it
Previous lowest price was $49 @Amazon/JB

    • +1

      Bargain at $29 with perks
