  • Solidteknic's prices are going up next month apparently too

    • Very true, 01/12/22…

      From next Thursday 1st December, we will be implementing a price rise on many of our pans.

  • +1

    Thanks, pulled the trigger on the 30cm frypan. Daughter's getting a good christmas present this year.

    • I keep looking at it, we have the 26cm but often it makes it tough to not spill out, 30cm would be perfect.

  • What is so special about this Solidteknic? Is it cast iron and is it heavy to handle?

    • Yes, it's cast iron. Compared to other cast iron pans, it's quite light. The design is excellent (handle doesn't heat up, induction and oven ready) and they'll last you a lifetime. The non-stick properties are good straight out of the box and washing them is easy (hot water and a scrubbing brush - no soap). Aussie made too. Can highly recommend.

    • No, it is wrought metal, not 'cast' and close to half the weight;

      Here at SOLIDTEKNICS™ we have developed two ranges of innovative, world-first, world-class cookware:  AUS-ION™ wrought iron (formed mild or low-carbon Australian steel), and nöni™ ferritic (non-nickel) wrought stainless steel cookware. Both ranges are made in Australia from a single sheet of the finest quality material, with no rivets, welds or synthetic / short-lived coatings ever.

      It's about 50-60% the weight of cast iron with a more refined finish so has better 'nonstick' potential if seasoned properly and cared for. For example, an average 12" (30cm) Lodge cast iron frypan;
      https://www.lodgecastiron.com/product/round-cast-iron-classi…

      Weight 7.89 LBS (~3.57KG)

      Whereas a 30cm Solidteknic frypan weighs around 1/2 that at 2KG:

      Dimensions>>Weight: 2 kg

      This is important as my wife would hate the weight of a Lodge cast iron and would stop using it but readily uses our Solidteknic unit and really tries to punish it.

      The best steak pan you could ever buy and has 'inter-generational' warranty (pass it on to the grand-kids an still has warranty).

      • Sorry, I should’ve clarified that. Wrought iron, not cast iron. Hence the weight difference
