Campos Black 1KG Airscape Canister $24 + Delivery @ Campos Coffee

1650

Was looking around for some bean storage containers and came across this. Seems to be quite a bargain considering it is $60+ elsewhere.

I wasn't aware of this when I bought it, but it is HUGE, so make sure you have enough space in your kitchen to store it. Also, like their Pullman Tamper, this is their Campos branded Airscape cannister, so keep that in mind.

They also have 20% Coffee, 30% off Capsules and up to 60% off Merch for Black Friday if you are interested. I think there is also free shipping for orders over $50, but I don't see it mentioned on their site.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

  • How is this better than leaving it in the original bag and pouring out as needed and using a clip (free except clip)? Does it keep it much fresher?

    • It looks cool

      • +2

        You mean it looks (air)tight.

    • In theory, the bag has oneway air valve, so as long you don't keep opening the bag multiple time and ensure you squeeze all the air out, would be close enough, even many bags come with resealable zip, so you can save on buying the clip :)

    • Thank you, I was looking for that. I watched it a while ago but couldn't remember which ones he recommended.

  • +1

Have one and love it. Bought another for gift. Cheers!

  • Awesome deal - have one and a family member was very jealous so getting this as gift. Nice one

  • +1

Most 1kg coffee bags will come with a one-way valve. Use a bulldog clip, and keep the beans in there. There's no need for this, unless you like how it looks.

  • where is a shop where i can get the airscape in smaller sizes?

    • Campos have the smakler just not on sale

  • Thanks a latte OP!!! Proper BF sale <3
Going to name the 2 jars I bought, Tuco and Salamanca…. coz its gonna be tight tight tighttttttt :D

Wondering if campos will have enough stock after it's been ozbargained …

Considering this seems useless for beans, any ideas what else could it be actually useful for? Rice?

    • Anything you want. Rice would be a good choice.

    • why is it useless???

      • -1

comments mentioning that keeping beans in original bag and removing with spoon is optimal and others that report little difference between using this and original bag

        • Depends on the bag - if the bag is resealable (like most 250g bags are), then sure. (But you're not buying a 1kg container to store 250g bags!)

If the bag is not resealable (like most 1kg bags aren't), then this will be better.

I think saying it's useless for beans is definitely not correct - you probably should have said useless for you, or even useless for beans for most people (which is probably true too). But calling it useless absolutely is just factually incorrect. :)

(Didnt neg you btw, just explaining why someone may take offence to your comment!) :)

      storing snake oil

  • I have a similar one from Breville. It's great.

  • OOS

  • Bummer only just missed out! Out of stock

  • Damn OOS

  • Great deal, these do actually cost $60 normally.

  • dang i missed out :()

    • Yeah bummer.
Was about to order a bunch…

  • Can these be used daily or is it more for storing beans longer term?

    • +1

It can be used daily, but it's a bit large (see comments above!), so a bit less practical for daily use than the smaller version - particularly when you get to the end, and have to push the seal all the way up and down every time!

Best used as a feeder for a smaller container. ie. Use a small container for accessing daily (I like the smallest size Fellow Atmos for that), and refilling the smaller container from this large container when the smaller container runs out. That's how I would use it, anyway.

I have a couple of small ceramic Airspace containers - normal beans in one, and decaf in the other. They are just right for 250g.

I would have bought a couple of these if I'd seen the deal earlier. They're great containers, well made, and there's plenty of other uses if (like me) you don't tend to bust out 1kg of coffee at a time. Bummed that I missed it.

  • Any cheap 250/500g ones? Doesnt have to be airscaped branded, but does the job?

    • +1

You can get the small Airscape for $40-45. Alternatively, Inglewood Coffee Roasters sells the Fellow Atmos, and when they have 20% off brewing equipment (frequently), the small Atmos goes down to $44 as well (like right now) - free shipping in Vic (otherwise I think Alternative Brewing have it on sale for the same price, but they charge shipping).

Alternatively, there is an Airscape Lite, which is a clear container (dont think it's intended for coffee beans, but if you keep it in a dark cupboard, it's probably fine). I think they are a bit cheaper (around $30-35).

Otherwise, I think the Hario ones are about $20…not sure how good they are, but they are probably much of a muchness.

Otherwise, just keep the beans in their resealable bags for free! :)

      • Appreciate the detailed response - might look to get myself an Atmos. Maybe a medium sized one. Cheers

        • Yeah my bad - I forgot you said 250/500g. For that, you'd want the medium Atmos (0.7L).

$44.90 at Alternative Brewing currently (free shipping if you spend over $75).

A bit more expensive at Inglewood ($48.80), but free shipping within Vic, so might work out cheaper if you are in Vic.

          • @caprimulgus: Haha yeah that's my dilemma at the moment. $1 off free ship for Inglewood.

I just bought beans from LB the other day - so I don't need intend to buy more from Inglewood. So now I'm looking into the other things on the site and have just carted some tea, which I intend to brew with the Aeropress. Now the issue is that I've run out of paper filters and besides, I think a metal filter would suit tea brewing more. Problem is that Inglewood doesn't have that. Alternative brewing does - but is obviously not a tea seller haha.

@wfh: The "minimum spend for free shipping" dilemma…I know this game well! :)

I forgot to mention, the Fellow Atmos units I received from Inglewood were part of a bad production run from Fellow (a known / common issue). The seals loose their vacuum overnight (instead of taking a few days like a working lid). Not a big deal - if you contact Fellow support, they will ship out new lids for free, without issue.

I'm not sure whether Inglewood stock is still from the same run (I bought mine a while ago), and whether Alternative Brewing has the same stock. So just test your unit when you get it.

The replacement lids work properly, just like my original Fellow Atmos (bought from Coffee Crema Garage many years ago, fwiw).

              • @caprimulgus: Any suggestions how to test it fast? Also is there a batch number or something to look out for, thanks for making us aware

                • @zintill: Dont know of any batch number, or way to test it fast, sorry.

Basically, just seal it with rested (degassed) beans - not freshly roasted, because if they have only been roasted in the last few days, they will still be degassing, so the gas from the beans will trigger the valve.

If you've sealed it and the seal is broken by the next day (green seal indicator not showing), then the lid is faulty (or your beans weren't degassed).

I would just keep using it for a week or so, and if by the end of the week (with beans degassed), it's still losing vacuum overnight, rhen it's definitely faulty!

Fingers crossed you get a good lid! :)

Edit: Just to be clear, this is about Fellow Atmos lids, NOT Airscape lids (like from this deall post).

  • Back in stock guys! Grab it while you can!!

    • Missed it again. Says no stock for me.

    • +2

Still out of stock, only tells you when you try check out.

      • Whoops. My bad, i didnt go to the checkout page since i already got one.

        • Back in stock.. limited supplies

  • Anyones shipped?

    • yes has

    • Not yet, only got an order confirmation. I'm assuming OZB zapped them and the poor shipping department is hating the BF sale.

    • Yes, mine has shipped not too long ago, got an sms and email for shipping confirmation.

    • Nope

    • Received mine today, beautiful tub!

  • +2

    Got mine today, great quality.

Anyone complaining about the size must seriously never have purchased a 1kg bag of beans before. It's perfectly reasonable in size, no larger than I would have expected.

  • Back in stock!! Limited supplies

  • Got mine, its pretty awesome. If you dont like the campos logo you can turn it around

  • I was hoping to purchase an additional one of these but missed out.

If anyone would like to sell theirs (maybe the size is too large or they wanted a vacuum seal) please send me a DM.

  • +1

Mine arrived today. Works well and super easy to use. Many thanks again to OP

  • Got mine today - they really are massive! lol

The matte black is awesome - way better than my Obsidian Black one in the smaller size (makes me want to replace my regular sized one with the matte black version!). Also like that the black on black logo is so subtle, so even without facing it the other way around, I'd be fine with it. (Will still probably face it the other way around! lol)

Not sure how often I'll end up using it (as I normally freeze half my beans anyway), but when my wife transitions back to caf (currently drinks decaf) and we double our consumption of regular beans, I may start using it more often.

Will probably use the second one for tea! :)

Would have preferred 500g size tbh, but for the price, very happy - OP, cheers mate! :)

    • Congrats on babby?

      • Cheers - well, little one is 18 months old now, but wife decided to stay on the decaf (rather than having to wean off the caf again). Trying for second one now, so after that, I'm guessing she will transition back.

Although, she loves the decaf we are using now (Industry Beans), so she may very well stick to that!

  • If anyone in sydney (bankstown area) wants one of these, feel free to shoot me a message. Bit too big for my needs

    • I did put a warning in the description :p

    • Sent you a message

  • If anyone bought one but doesn't want it (e.g. too big), let me know! Would be looking to buy
