[PC] Black Friday 2022 Insomnia: 18 games, 3 hr discount/limited stock per game e.g. Train Valley $1.89 (-87%, 500 copies) @ GOG

170

GOG's upcoming Black Friday 2022-related Insomnia deals, as per their news announcement:

Starting tomorrow (November 25th) at 2 PM UTC, every 3 hours there will be a new insane deal on a great title. These special offers will continue to appear for the 54 hours (so we got 18 games to catch on amazing discounts) but make sure to get them quick! Each offer lasts only for 3 hours and has a limited number of uses.

  • 54 hour period starts from Saturday November 26th 01:00AM AEDT and finishes on Monday November 28th 07:00AM AEDT
  • Given my experiences with laboriously attempting to list/update GOG Insomnia deals in the past (Aug 2022, Jun 2022), I'm not sure if I can keep up with maintaining a cumulatively updated table again …
  • … regardless, I'd encourage anyone (insomniacs or not …) to write comments on this deal post, if they spot a GOG Insomnia deal/discount they like (or dislike) or reckon is a good (or poor) deal

How does GOG's (Black Friday 2022) Insomnia Deals work?
  • There will be a total of 18 games that will each get an 'Insomnia discount', over a 54 hour period, i.e. 3 hour period per game.
  • Every 3 hours, at the top of the hour, one specific game gets discounted, at a discount rate (the 'Insomnia discount') that is deeper than the 'regular' discount that might already be there due to the current 'GOG Black Friday Sale 2022' promotion.
  • Each 'Insomnia discounted' game has limited stock, e.g. 500 copies up for grabs, for that 3 hour period.
  • Whichever comes first (end of the 3 hour period / out of stock), that game will stop getting the 'Insomnia discount'.
  • At the end of the 3 hour period, a new game replaces it and is showcased with its particular 'Insomnia discount' rate, and the previous game's listed price then reverts back to its normal price (or the 'regular' discounted price if there happened to be one before it was highlighted as an Insomnia Deal).
  • If you happen to already have a currently 'Insomnia discounted' game in your library, you can't purchase another copy of it during that Insomnia discount period of 3 hours.

IMPORTANT: to obtain the 'Insomnia discount', you have to use the GOG.com landing page's Insomnia section for that game you're interested in, and click the 'Buy Now' button on the Insomnia page section:

  • if you go directly to that game's specific page listing on the GOG store instead, and then click 'Buy', the 'Insomnia discount' will NOT be applied (it will either be the regular price or 'regular' discount if there was one at the time).

Used to have these at Steam. Lots of people complained but I liked these deals.

  • +2

Not worth it. Rather pay an extra $2 to not deal with this garbage

    • I agree.

    • Absolutely, don’t waste your time with these limited time deals, it was good that Steam dropped them, GOG should too.

  • +3

Confirmed. First game is Train Valley. 500 copies available @ $1.89.

    • +2

… and all 500 copies of Train Valley at $1.89 (-87%) were sold out, with 1 hr 15 min remaining in the 3 hour 'Insomnia' window

Next game to be showcased for Black Friday 2022 Insomnia discount is - Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

  • +1

    26/11 10:00PM to 27/11 01:00AM is Terroir

    • +5

Terroir is a temporarily-offered freebie game by GOG, whereas this deal post's 18 games are deeply discounted (but not made completely free) over a 54 hour period

      • My bad!

        • +1

its all good, just wanted to clarify the Terroir freebie game offer versus this Insomnia deal's offers

  • +1

Bit of a stinker from 7am-10am. Scorn at $45 isn't even the cheapest right now let alone best price ever. Probably should have gone down to $40. Only sold 90 with less than an hour to go.

    • thanks for the observation, yeah not the best deal for Scorn … every bit helps me fill in the table row data, cheers

  • +1

    10am-1pm Evenicle 2 $29 (was $57.99) Looks to be a Gog exclusive?

    • Yep you're correct, it is a GOG only game, never really read about it until now. A bit NSFW as well with its adult content …

  • +1

1pm-4pm House Party $21.59 (40% off). Not a great price. Not surprisingly not many have bought it.

  • +1

Train Valley 2 is correct. Good price really at $7.59.

  • The 27/11 10:00AM to 27/11 01:00PM timeslot predicted game is Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™

    • a game that has not had any discount sales greater than 50% since the announcement of Bloodlines 2 in 2019.
    • 2019 and prior, there were -75% discount sales on GOG, Humble Store, and Steam.
    • -65% discount didn't match pre-2020 historic discount rates of -75% … but -65% may end up being the best offer on this game for a while based on post-2019 trends of -50% sale promos excluding this Insomnia deal …

  • That's a wrap for GOG Black Friday 2022's Insomnia deals … I'm not sure if the Insomnia Rewind will take place again before end of Black Friday 2022 promo, like what happened in June 2022.

At a glance, the BF2022 Insomnia discounts weren't as good as the ones from Jun 2022's Insomnia discounts … perhaps the next Insomnia deal that's tied with the next seasonal sale (e.g. GOG Winter Sale 2022) might have better/deeper discounts compared to these ones.

Didn't look like many people bought much. Some good prices but nothing really crazy which is kinda the point of these sorts of deals. Maybe reduce the total number of copies available and increase the discounts? I didn't buy anything but was close to getting ATOM.
