Anyone else have a problem with burning pets?

    • +2

I've already reported it to the RSPCA.

    • +3

Must be a spinoff festival from burning man

    • but there is water nearby with this dispenser so we dont have to worry anymore

    • Spontaneously combusting pets must be a real problem so some bright spark thought of a solution.

then spend a fortune in filters…

I'd rather just replace the water in my dog's water bowl each morning…

    • Charcoal is cheap

    • How much are the filters? Do you have to use a filter?

        • and how often should those filters be replaced?

          • +4

@ry34: I think I have replaced 1 in about 2 years on mine :). They're cats, they dont like still water, they dont give 2 sh1ts about filtration

            • +1

@OwMeKnees: Honestly feel bad for your cat. After a week of two the whole thing is already slimy. Leaving it there for a whole year is just nasty and abusive.

          • @ry34: According to the manual for this unit, they should be replaced every 4 weeks. That runs to an annual filter replacement cost of around $36.

      • +1

The genuine filters seem to sell in a six pack for around $18 delivered. I have no idea if there's a cut-off switch linked to the installation of a filter.

    • We have a ceramic one. We, probably, change the filters every couple of months but we completely clean the water fountain every week and change the water then. We also add water when needed. The cats like the fountain.

it would be nice if my water is not burning when i get it.

    • unless you want to make some tea…

Extra 5% off somehow, so ended up as $26.60

What's wrong with the old 2L ice cream tub?!

  • -5

I am offended at this plastic piece of shit.

  • +4

Remember it's important to filter dirt and debris out of your dog's water. Y'know that dog that's thirsty because he's been running around licking sticks, humans, ground, other dogs, literally eating other dog's shit. Yep, filter that water.

It's more useful for cats, then again I just make my cat drink out of a stainless steel bowl, haven't had any problems.

      Great point.

And I can hear the haters queueing up to scream that dogs will drink from a muddy puddle at the park if given half a chance.

It's true. But it doesn't mean they should or that it's good for them. If you wouldnt ingest water full of random "floaties" from a bowl in the corner of your kitchen or laundry, please don't make your pets do it.

We have a number of old-school stainless steel bowls for our pets' water. They get washed-out and replenished a couple of times a day. A unit like this will remove a bit of the pressure on the humans while also giving the pets running water (which ours prefer).

I’ll be one of those so called ‘haters’.

This is over engineered unneeded crap.

Until you can find a justifiable way to ensure all wild animals also have filtered water then your ‘hate’ on those with differing options to yours is negated.

I'm not going to waste my time deconstructing the obvious logical fallacy in your feeble argument.

          Have a great rage-filled day.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: I wouldn’t say I’m the one raging here tbh

            • @FredAstair: Of course you wouldn't.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: And of course you wouldn’t see your own misdoings.

                • @FredAstair: Of course.

                  • +1

@[Deactivated]: *why you don’t want to give up an argument even when you’re being unreasonable.

                    • @FredAstair: I don't have sufficient cognitive capacity to decode that drivel. I suspect it is attempting to masquerade as a sentence or maybe a question. 🤷‍♂️

In any case, I've wasted enough keystrokes. Treat yourself to the HIDE function on the site to save yourself from more triggering comments from me. Please. And thank you.

And I can hear the haters queueing up to scream that dogs will drink from a muddy puddle at the park if given half a chance.

But they have been doing it for years as a species. Not hating though. Just spitting out facts.

          OK then.

Anti burning model stops your cat going WOOF

    • FLOOF iiiiiiiiiii

  • +1

Can you get a dog bidet? I'm sick of wiping his arse.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Grabbed one. Both our dog and cat prefer running water over still water.

Time will tell how resistant all that clear plastic is to algae growth. There's a reason why these are generally stainless steel and/or non-transparent plastic.

  • Still or running? Quality did prefers sparkling. My dog uses soda stream.

"increases water oxygen content"… umm, that's not how water works, lol.
