Glenfiddich IPA Experiment - 700mL - 43.0% The entire idea behind the Glenfiddich Experiment Series is that with great risk comes great reward and their IPA offering is the proof of the pudding. Speyside craft brewer Seb Jones created a specially formulated India pale ale with an eye as much toward seasoning the barrels used in its brewing as to its drinkability. Then Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman uses these casks to age hand-selected spirits and creates a singularly satisfying single malt. To the nose, it has a slight malty sweetness with touches of citrus. On the tongue, it has just a touch of youthful tanginess with notes of vanilla and lychee mixed with hops.

Aberlour 12 Year Old Double Cask - 700mL - 40.0% If you're new to the finer points of drinking scotch or have the mistaken idea that you have to spend big money to enjoy quality, then Aberlour 12-Year-Old Double Cask is just the education that you have been needing. Though there are pricier brands on the market few, if any, deliver a fuller more mature drinking experience. Initially aged in virgin oak barrels before being polished in Sherry butts Aberlour 12 delivers a Christmas cake experience with every sip. The subtle flavours of dried dark fruits, vanilla, toffee and cinnamon apples blend to create holiday cheer no matter the time of year.

      All of the Aberlours are massive bang for your buck. Really approachable too - if you've been staying away from whisky because your mate keeps forcing to drink stuff that tastes like band aids and ash trays, you'll love the big, sweet sherry flavours of these and other Speyside malts.

      Taste is subjective. Personally I think the Fiddich IPA should be in the $80 price range.
      EDIT: And I say this having a couple of bottles myself. It's a decent dram (though some don't like it much), but at $120 there are better options available.

    As I said the last time I posted one of those IPA Experiment deals, that whiskey is extremely overpriced at $120. It simply should not be this expensive.
    The Aberlour is definitely worth the dollars
