Auto Switch off System for Fan and Downlights

I would like to have this

A Auto light on when I enter room. Switch off after 1 min or so.

B Run exhaust fan for 5 min or so when I am done with the deed

A is not that essential but B is

It is my own home so I don't need permissions. I would prefer to get it from a local vendor for insurance purposes.

I have found a device from CLIPSAL model 2031VETR-WE. But I could not locate a 2 switch plate there.

I am looking for a 2 in 1 switch assembly. My current switch looks like this:

I have both things you mention. You can have an electrician install both. The lights are handy for hallways at night, you walk in and the lights turn on. Timeouts are configurable. Just check their range, some only detect 3-4 metres, so if you have a large room then you should get two or a get a sensor with a larger range. The switch will change from on/off to sensor/off/on.

If you don't want an electrician for the sensor, you can get battery powered sensor lights from IKEA.

    • Soan papdi! The sweet that is mercilessly traded on festivals!

I have the lights sorted as I bought something from Aldi. It is mostly about the exhaust fan now.

    • Model name please!

  • Well sensor downlight is pretty easily sorted, many suppliers have similar 90mm cutout downlight flush face with sensor in middle.

Beacon, Bunnings deta, cla, Mercator etc take your pick.

Otherwise just get a mains integrated sensor in room to switch the lighting circuit, this way will have better detection range.

    • As replied elsewhere, the light is sorted and was not a real issue.

Now I am looking for the fan solution. Thanks anyway!

  • We get google home to do it "turn on/off XXX fans for XXX minutes". We have four extractor fans hooked up to deta smart switches (bunnings), and they're great for ventilating the home on cooler days without having to manually switch them on one at a time to pull air through the house.

Look at a ceiling PIR unit to turn the light on/off, the ones built into wall switches are mega costly!

B Run exhaust fan for 5 min or so when I am done with the deed

For part B, you want what they call a fan run on timer. This is 'triggered' by the light turning on and will run on once the light is turned off. So this would be placed after the PIR unit in your example to turn on the fan.

    Happy wiring

  • For fan only solution, panasonic exhaust https://www.beaconlighting.com.au/catalog/product/view/id/19…, only solution I've found with a body presence sensor, i.e run timer starts after you leave the room not when you enter.

Could use in conjunction with phillips hue for light, both systems work a treat for me.
