Roadside Assistance $76.46 for First Year (Was $89.95/Year) @ Budget Direct

520
SOLVED15

I was in need for some roadside insurance, and found budget direct to be the cheapest at the moment. Combined with the $0.10 /L Fuel Discount at Shell Coles Express. I think it works out to be a pretty decent deal!

  • i am looking for roadside assistance as well before the holidays season. Any idea if its any good as compared to NRMA

      Compare the terms and conditions.

Dont recommend them unless your breakdown is at home and not an emergency

      • Why do you say that?

        • From experience of trying to use them as a customer of 3 years

    • I just got a tow from them the other day. Up to 20ks is 'free'. My only experience with them

    • Im not sure about NRMA, all others uses same independent provider, doesn't matter which flavour.

Probably same apply if you in a state which dont have NRMA, they probably use some independent ppl as well.

Don't just go for cheap price, make sure you read what is covered to choose the right company to avoid nasty surprises.

That’s true. Though in my case it covered everything I needed and the ratings looked decent. But like you said, everyone should take a look at what is and isn’t included.

Need to renew soon. Might try this. Thanks OP.

  • I wonder how many trucks they have covering the whole of Australia.

Would not recommend, was with them for 3 years and finally needed roadside from them in an emergency breakdown on the highway to be told it would be 10-14 hours before they could get someone to me in metro sydney.

Nrma is more expensive but they actually get the job done.

  • We took mycar car service. They are giving 249$ car service with free roadside assistance..

    • +1

Any info on this online? Couldn't find anything on their site

    • Have used the Mycar roadside service. Comes with your car service. Basically over the phone diagnosis and then if they don't think they can fix it, arrange a tow truck and take it to the nearest Mycar service centre. Was straightforward and didn't cost a cent.

    • Jax Tyres also offer free road side assistance when you get "peace of mind service" but i think only for 6mths not 1yr.

    • Ultratune offer the same

Don't even pay for roadside assistance. If car breaks down then I join RAC on the spot

  • +2

    Are you currently broken down?
Please note if you need assistance within 48 hours of joining the annual roadside assistance fee must be paid in full and an additional $150 fee will apply.

    • This apply to RAC, RACV and NRMA

      • As well as RACQ.

    • If you have a decent car and know how to change a tyre, this would be a cheaper option. Lol

    • will you still come out ahead with that $150 fee ontop?

Been with Road services 24/7 for few years, had to call them out a few times (one was a tow), quick and efficient, no issues, 5 star plan is $121 https://www.247roadservices.com.au

    • Yep, this, +1
I'm with them. I use the 3 star plan, enough for me. $55 per annaum.

  • I see they're still using the old Nissan and VW logos on the make selection screen. At least they updated the Kia one.

  • If their roadside assistance is comparable to their car insurance, I wouldn't touch it. I was comparing 6 different insurance companies and they would only insure my car for $3000 less than what I paid for it. Youi was the same. Ended up going with AAMI who give it as an inclusion with their insurance and managed to get the car insured for a couple of $1000 more than what I paid.

    • yep i looked at their breakdown coverage and they have a whole lot of cons most stuff on their are reasons why car needs be towed in first place.

  • Worst roadside

    Experience: Dead batttery

8am called in… didnt turn up till 6pm that night.

Guy who came didnt have the right battery and would need another 3-4 hrs…

Canned it… Next day took an uber to repco and sorted it in 1 hr

    • You didn't call them back ? I would after a hr or two.
