  • Just checked the app and it only shows 4c/litre. Is this targeted?

    • +1

Same. Seems a stupid thing to be targetted.

      • -1

What version of the app do you have?
        I have 0.9.2

        Hopefully not targeted

    • +1

You seem to be looking at webpage which says 4 cents per litre. Download the app and the app should says 10 cents per litre

      • I was looking on the wrong app. Was on the rewards app not the fuel discount app

      • I'm looking at the fuel app

  • Super deal. Mine shows 10 cents. TY

    • Is it for multiple use?

      • One per day

  • For me, it's $0.10 per litre until 21/12/2022 (once per day, 150L per transaction)

  • Is this budget direct rewards app?

    • +2

      Budget Direct Fuel Discounts app

  • what's the cheapest way to become a member

      • yeah was asking as don't have any, hoping they do something like RACV did for bike insurance, this was 12 months bike insurance for $5 or something

        • Yeah , I don't think so !

  • +1

Shell is always a good deal more in my experience, but I'll keep this one in mind.

The car I had roadside on's engine shit the bed a few months back, but still got the policy out for another while, so may as well get some use. Cheers!

  • Is there any specific order to swap Flybuys for 4c off first and then scan BD barcode for 10c ? I realise sometime code stacking doesn’t work.

    • +2

Yes, tell the cashier to pick a hand, any hand

      • Talk to the hand

    • +1

I used it on the weekend. Scanned Budget code first then flybuys.

  • And hopefully they will keep your data safe!

  • -4

Is that 10 cents per litre discount, or we only have to pay 10 cents per litre of fuel? XD

  • Tried joining budget rewards. Apparently paying them over $100 per month isn't enough to qualify.

    • +1

This one isnt via budget rewards,

    • OP Should clarify, you need the fuel discount app not the rewards app, rewards app requires 2 policies minimum to get an invitation to the rewards program.. Wonder if its any good cause thats a decent requirement for entry..

  • +1

lol at first I read 10c a Litre … bargain!

    • +1

That's what I said above, but apparently a couple of butt-pain people here cannot appreciate that.

  • is this a free-to-join membership?

    • +1

No, you need to have a policy with them to benefit.

  • +2

    how about home insurance

    • +1

      Any luck?

      • nope

  • Does Soda Stream cylinder swap count towards the $20 spent in Coles express?

    • +1

      Yes

  • +2

The cheapest Coles Express is 22c per/l more then my local servo, and that Coles servo is out in whop-whop. If I'm going to drive I can save ~35c/l on Coles prices.

    • I gotta use 98 so I'm hearing you, big boy!

    • +1

A 2021 report by ACCC says that Coles Express is the highest price retailer for fuel in Brisbane. 2nd highest price in Sydney.

It looks like they're changing though:

In 2017 and 2018, Coles Express was almost exclusively the highest priced retailer in the capital cities. By 2020, it was the highest priced retailer in only 2 cities: Brisbane and Canberra

      Full report is here.

Anyone else not getting the Verification Code via SMS

    • +1

Ya, I’m not getting mine for some reason :(

    • +3

Same. And the birthday input under the sign up section is poorly designed as you have to scroll back month by month!

      • +2

Tap the year, should then let you scroll back year by year. Does for me at least.

      • +1

Click on the year first to select, then it will be easier to select the month followed by the date.

  • Haha you'd need a lot more discount than .10c to make Coles Express fuel prices look competitive! 😉

    • For us using the best 98 RON on the market, i.e Shell, this is meh-to-ok

      • It's different where you are - the cheapest shell in town here as per petrolspy is 209.9 for 98, the cheapest 98 in town is 199.9, and if i drive 15 minutes out of town, I can get 98 for 193.9. If I went to the coast, it would be worth using it.

  • Do they check the details match with the car you filling up?

    • Do you think the operator really cares if you are getting a discount?

  • -6

It won't let me join up on the app because it says I need to have a Budget Direct account, e.g I need to have insurance or other account with them

    • +3

That's usually true when a post starts with

"Must download the budget direct app and enter your customer details".

      • Obviously it helps if you read the whole thing first, including comments to verify. Title is so poorly worded though. At first glance it looks like petrol is 10c/L. Doesn't say in what capacity you need to have with BD to get it. Probably should even have a targeted sign on it.

  • This is great considering shell is usually about $0.30/Ltd more.

  • im paying $2.13 for diesel at costco

    • check the fuel app, some metro places offer PDL cheaper than costco.

  • Thanks OP!
Easy process to validate details on app.

  • Exclude LPG, booo!

    • +1

It's kind of a dying fuel for cars

      • Not letting go of LPG until the infrastructure is existent or no longer viable to run. IMO until EVs become viable, LPG is one of the cheapest fuels to operate a vehicle. It is a shame that we turned it back against it.

  • 10 cents discount only a good deal for ULP. Why? Look at the RESPECTIVE price differences between ULP and higher grades from different suppliers. For instance, that between ULP and 95: Shell - 17 cents, Woolworths - 13 cents, BP - 9 cents. These are valid for inner East of Melbourne. Check you local fuel watch. You can do the same comparison for 98.

    • +1

95 is ULP. ULP stands for unleaded petrol, which is what we use in Australia as standard. 91/95/98 are the grades available for petrol alone, then you've got 94+e10 or 91+e10 which seems to be dying out and diesel/premium diesel (although premium diesel is the same as regular but just more proprietary additives for "cleaning" however much you believe that.

    • Is there any better way to find and compare fuel prices than petrospy?

  • Says I have to have 2 accounts to be invited to the rewards program. Have an account number but not a member number. Also says you need to spend $20 in store for the full discount.

  • -8

This discount only works if you have your car or house insured with them

    • +1

      Or a roadside assistance

    • +1

Reading the T&Cs, I don't believe that a home insurance policy with budget direct qualifies for this.

    • -1 for not reading - it specifically says for BD customers, wouldn't make much sense for them to give the discount to non customers would it?

      • Of course they can make it available to everyone with the app installed, e.g. like Car Sales allow you to stack for 8 cents off a litre without having to be a paid up member https://www.carsales.com.au/fuel

        • I didn't say they cant, I said why would they.

          • -1

@doobey1231: The same reason why everyone else does it

            • @x x: I wouldnt say one or two examples equals everyone lol.

              • -1

@doobey1231: Because there's only 1-2 other players lol

                • @x x: Feel free to list them all, you've only provided one

    • You didn't give Budget Direct money, you get no discount from them.
      Want discount, pay them first.
      Simple.

  • +1

I have a car insurance policy with them.

  • I hope no one uses AG/Budget as an insurance provide..

They are the WORST IN THE INDUSTRY (well, would be in the top couple)…

Myself and every single person I know who has been with them and had a claim has had nothing but the worst experience of all time. They should be shut down!

    • they are cheap for a reason but who else you can deal with?

      • Exactly, Cheap and Nasty! Spend a little extra and save the future drama!
Remember - Time is Money! :)

    • Just did a claim last month for not as fault accident (have comprehensive) and it was smooth as. Had all the details and no excess paid, no change to ratings and no change to future premiums.

      • Prob cos we don't know each other… Otherwise, you would be the only person i know who has used them and its been fine. Glad you didn't have any dramas.

Had full comp, not at fault myself and took 6 months to resolve the issue. At the 6 week mark, I'd made the claim myself against the other parties insurance company and had the ombudsmen step in. Still took another 4.5 month for them to even action what the ombudsmen had instructed also. Had left them in the process of all this, then after the fact, they then decided to try and reinstate a cancelled policy and charged me. Not once, but twice. LMFAO…

        jokeofaninsurancecompany

3 other people I know around the same time, all similar stories. Not to mention many others i've since heard about also.

        • I wouldn't be surprised if people that have bad experiences share them more, as bad memories are more memorable than good ones.

NRMA Car Insurance has a 1.8/5 star rating on productreview and QBE that I've personally had good experiences with on work vehicles only has 2.4/5 stars as well.

          • @brosk1s: In some cases brosk1s, agree. However, you will typically find a balance there somewhere. Again, from my experience, so far, you are the only person I've come across to say they have had a good experience with the provider. Hopefully it stays that way and you can be a long term client. Better still, not have any future need to call upon your insurance full stop! :)

    • Same thing was said about Woolworths insurance, did a claim with them and was impressively smooth. I even changed the repairer to my (unlisted) preference.

Friend of mine made a claim via AAMI, took unbelievably long and had the run around so many times.

I think it's all case by case and luck of the draw tbh.

  • Does it include diesel? So many of these 'discounts' exclude diesel….

    • Sorry because Diesel is under Adblue, supply is limited

  • I don’t have anything with BD. Would anyone like to share their barcode? Hahaha

  • Nice find TEER3X, I didnt even know they had a fuel app.

  • Just paid 173.9c/L before any discounts, northern suburbs Melbourne…. Petrol is getting cheaper though.

Not sure if screenshots work, would be worth a shot since the price is cheaper than what the chopper can get at the moment.

  • -3

They quoted me $900 for car insurance. I will stick with the $600 I currently pay to AAMI. Never heard of these guys and won't get sucked in with a fuel discount that I can get for free elsewhere

  • can I stack this with Linkt 4c? so BD + Linkt + coles fuel voucher = 18c?

  • im confused. i understand the 10c off via BD fuel app. how do i get additional 4c off (via Coles Supermarket)? anyone care to explain pls.

    • +1

It's on the receipt if you spend $30 at Coles.

  • I don’t get any sms. :(

  • I usually stack the Linkt 4c off, the 4c Coles docket offer, and the spend $20 in store 10c offer (I know it's stupid to spend that amount in store) - if this stacks on top of all of those for 28 cents off, that would be incredible.

Under $1.50 per litre, would feel like I've gone back in time to 2021.

  • With the Fuel Discount App. any ideas if 2 people can both register to the same Budget Direct policy ? e.g. say you are a 1 car household, with 2 drivers who share the car, and the policy is in one of the drivers names. If both people installed the app on their phones, could there be problems if both people (on different days) attempt to get the discount (for the same car)?

  • I have the discount offer still pretty useless when shell coles express have a price jack of 10¢ compared with ampol, bp, 7 eleven within the area.

  • looks cant be stack with toll app 4c discount.
