50% off Kinesis Lyfe Equipped Commuter E-Bike $1799.99 + Shipping @ Pushy's

50

Commuter e-bike with a small 250w hub motor and 250Wh battery.

The battery is hardwired so it will be annoying when it goes if you're not electrical

Currently at 50% off. Original MSRP may be inflated but quality and components looks good.
Has tektro hydraulic brakes, a 1X drivetrain with Deore derailleur, thru axle on the front..
I like how it comes with powered lights (front & rear), a rack and mudguards. The lights are a be seen not a see on a dark road type. But still having them included is great.

You can get the bike with out these additions but it's the [same price] though in a nice blue colour. (https://www.pushys.com.au/kinesis-lyfe-commuter-e-bike-slate…) I like its colour better but the additional items seem to good to give up on.

It doesn't look like a cheap bike and that's is mostly what you would get even at this price for an e-bike.

A hub drive bike originally retailing at $3,600?

You can get decent mid drives for that price. 50%, I'm calling shenanigans.

This hub drive is a very good quality hub drive as found on the merida e silex and escultura. Original rrp looks good to me.

The bebefits of this ebike are that it will be much lighter than the equivalent middrive or other hub drive motors.

The not so good thing about these is that the battery is little. This bike is more aimed towards people who want just a little bit of help. If you live in a really hilly area id recommend something with more grunt.

  • It took me 2 years to break even on $600 ebike I bought on clearance and batery might need replacement soon. $2000 ebike uneconomical unless you do UberEATS everyday fulltime

The bike paid you $600 over 2 years?

The battery looks like it's welded into the frame? Not sure if I'm missing something here?

    • It says its inside the downtube, so probably a cylinder thing under the seat

I contacted Kinesis UK and they said it can't be removed. It seems to be Mahle X35 system which is similar to X20 that are in Scott bikes and others too. I'd be concerned that once the battery starts wearing out or fails that you'd literally have to throw the bike away.

  • The downtube is the thick one that joins the headtube to the bottom bracket. Battery doesn't look (easily) removable. Maybe if you remove the BB it can be done.

  • leitner has a little 14" wheel ebike with integrated battery in the seat post but you can actually remove it and charge the battery away from the bike. i get that kinesis are trying to make this look like a normal bike without the protruding battery pack but it would've been better integrated with the frame and not enclosed within it.

  • Still too expensive for that kind of specs
