Great price for those who haven't played it. I haven't played Ragnarok myself but I imagine it's basically a requirement to play this before playing the sequel, since it's a continuation of the story.

Fantastic game, should note it is free if you have a PS5 and any tier of PS+ (even Essential) as part of the 'PS+ Collection'.
And yeah, definitely play it before Ragnarok

  • +6

Runs amazing on the PS5, 4k 60fps I'm pretty sure and so much content for how little it costs

    • +1

Since when is it 60fps? Did they release a patch?

    • +3

Just bought a PS5 and got this. I can't believe how good it looks. Absolute stunner. Loving it so much.

  • +9

This game will blow you away if you haven't played it. Dooooo it boy!

    $7 pre-owned at EB.

      $8 brand new at Amazon.

  • +10

This for $8 and all first party nintendo games even if they are 4 years old go on sale for $69 a couple times a year. :P

    • +5

      That's the only reason I haven't bought a Switch.

      • +1

It's definitely very frustrating that it's hard to find swtich games cheap but if you look on facebook marketplace you sometimes do find bargains. You're definitely missing out not getting the system because of that reason. So many amazing games on the switch!

  • has been this price for a quite some time, great game tho.. highly recommend

  • +1

One of the best games on the PS, great storytelling and game mechanics

  • +1

Great game, played on PC bought for over $50 will definitely recommend.

  • Well worth the money

  • +2

Finally got a ps5 a few weeks ago and picked this as my first game after astro's playroom. Looks amazing.

I bought 2 years of PS Plus Extra and not sure i'll really have to buy a game on disc for ages (i didnt have a PS4)

It is much harder than I expected even on the medium/standard difficulty though.

    • +2

Comes free with the PS5 though. Lol

    • +2

Did you pay for the game? It comes free with the PS5 if you have any tier of PS+ subscription

      • Yep part of PS Plus

    • Parrying is the trick. Also the Valkryries are a massive jump in difficulty compared to the rest of the game so leave them alone unless you are keen to bash your head against something for a while

      • The game hasn't explained that to me yet I don't think. Wish there was a help file to go back for tutorials. Even stuff like a troll which feels like I should be looking for a weak point I just end up wailing on nothing in particular.

    • +4

Pretty much goes for most things that depreciate in value over time (regardless of use).

    • +3

I mean almost everything depreciates so unsure how this is annoying as you would've known from the start, if you weren't ready to play why would you buy at release price??

    • +1

Why let this bother you though?

  • Guys I'm looking to get into GoW games. Should I be starting at previous ones?

    • I started with this one and I’m currently playing Ragnarok. I’m happy with my choice. The story telling is very effective at repeating key points which are relevant to the current mission. There are aspects of the story that I gloss over which may have made more sense if I’d played all of the previous games. 2 x 40 hour games is enough for me.

    • Start with this one, the older are too dated now.

    • +2

It certainly doesn't hurt to play the mainline earlier games if you don't mind a few legacy camera and mechanic issues. GoW 1 & 2 are still fun to play as part of the HD collection and only about 10 hours each, give or take a couple of hours. GoW 3 is pretty decent on PS4 as well.

    • +1

From a story point of view, there's really no need in playing the older games.

If you're into gaming though, and come from an era where you can play games and look past the graphics, I highly recommed the series.

  • Having just finished the sequel, I have to say, I liked this one a lot more. Maybe it was that the sequel was so similar (which is a good thing I guess) that it didn’t have the new car smell that this one did?

    • +1

Sequel was disappointing… still fun given there’s no real games to play atm, but didn’t really do anything better than this one…

  • $9 at JB HI-FI as of 3/12/22

  • Damn! Bought it for $11 a year ago!
Still a great purchase nonetheless (also got it free on PS+ not long after).

  • It’s free on psn atm.. free for ps5 users too

  • Played this over half way through until the PS5 locked up and I had to wipe hardrive , gave up after that , sucks but not starting the game over from the beginning .

  • got it on ps5 got it on PC but only play it on PC so I get 100fps :D

  • Got the "Father and Son" platinum trophy a couple of weeks ago. Incredible game with the only issue being the lack of content when everything is done (Valks, quests etc…).
