Nadi - Fiji Hotel Recommendations

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the help! Booked sheraton!

Anyone have any good local restaurants, especially seafood recommendations?

Anybody have any recommendations for hotels in Nadi? Budget is $200-300 per night, looking to stay 4-5 nights in December

Close to beach, and pool is preferred

What we would like to do:- good seafood, relax, just enjoy beach and pool

Thanks everyone! Booked sheraton!

I'd suggest not staying in Nadi. Go up north, or Denarau or Coral coast, just wouldn't suggest Nadi itself.

    • Any hotel recommendations? Finding it hard to fit within the budget.

      Looking at Shanghai-La currently

      • That is a long way from Nadi - like an hours drive so you need to factor that in - I have stayed there is really nice - large resort with its own private beach and nice pools - not much else around it though

        • Looking at Sheraton now! Thanks a ton

    • maybe try something like booking.com (shopback too). Def. try to get away from Nadi and Suva as Cookie2 suggests. Also depends on if you're after a resort with multiple pools or more into ocean swimming/ snorkeling.

Some of the islands are amazing and sometimes cheap, but you'll pay extra to get out there, and may need to add bottled water, etc.

Can't speak for the one below, but just to give an idea:

Looked at the islands, almost 750 fjd for air transfers, very steep, but, hotels are cheapern

        • some of them do have ferries or catamarans, which are cheaper, but might need to stay a night in denaru to match with your flights

          • @rhimes: Yeah land at 6, just not worth for this short trip I guess.

  • Just do a Google search and you will finds heaps of places ranging from 1-5 star. Choose a couple and then come back for recommendations

    • Sheraton, Hilton Fiji, Shanghai la, Sofitel (out of budget, but if it’s really recommended can extend)

      Thoughts?

      Thanks

      • Have you try booking.com ? You know how to use it? Its gives the ratings/ reviews and all. Then book from directly or which ever cheaper.

Search for hotels based on your criteria
        Check reviews and pricing
Use google map for location and transport etc

  • Westin denerau or Sheraton if with kids. Oh wait I think the westin is still closed till January

    • Leaning towards Sheraton now! Thanks

Denerau is where it's at. Nadi is only good for an overnight stay for an early morning departure IMHO.

There are lots of options - depends what your going for and why and whats important to you - There is nothing worth staying in the towns like Nadi or Suva for usually. Denerau at the minimum, or an island if your really looking for nice beaches etc.

    • Thanks mate’ just relax, enjoy good seafood and chill I guess

      • Check out Luxury Escapes.. sometimes they have reasonable package deals to Fiji - there will be some options at least to consider.

        • Will do! Just booked Sheraton, looked easier

Outrigger is a really nice place.

    • The pics didn’t make them look too appealing :( also, it’s far away and nothing close by, thank you mate!

I enjoyed outrigger on the coral coast.

    • The pics didn’t make them look too appealing :( also, it’s far away and nothing close by, thank you mate!

      • Not sure what pictures you are looking at. It's near the Shangrila, which you are also looking at? Nice beach, great pools, you can walk to some nice local eateries, short drive to plenty of stuff.

        • Looked at Google, hmm! Booked Sheraton cause it’s close to city and there’s few food options!

          • @Jackjcca: The city is rubbish, just like nearly everyone else here said. Why ask for options if you are set in your ways then?

            • @Tony-Abbott: Going by the comments was recommended Denarau, thought that’ll be the best!

          • +1

@Jackjcca: Nadi is garbage, not sure why you want to be there, but you do you.

Realise I'm late to the party - but having lived in Nadi for 7 years - there's absolutely nothing worth staying in Nadi for - unless it's just an overnight … e.g. Martintar Hotel ;). Others have mentioned Denarau - but it's just a strip of overpriced hotels close to Denarau Marina built on a swamp. There are no beaches on the mainland - once you are out on the islands - it's coral sand beaches - so rough and coarse. Denarau is good for families who like paying $$$ but don't want to spend a long time transiting from the airport to a hotel room and want day trips to the islands. Suva is a dump - avoid it. Once you are outside of Nadi, Suva, Lautoka, and Ba there's nothing - literally nothing to do - which is actually great. If you want clubs, pot, meth and ladyboys head to Suva or Martintar. My tip: get a rental car from the airport, head to Jet Point and fill up the car with booze and food and just head down to the Coral Coast and Pacific Harbour in the south or Volivoli in the north - plenty of nice places to stay - off the beaten track - low cost - you will typically get fish of the day in the local restaurant. Or better yet - get on a ferry (out of Denarau Marina or Vuda Marina), or helicopter/seaplane out Domestic and head to the islands. All are generally fabulous and for every budget and remote - especially if you go north up to Savusavu and beyond. You can even island hop on the ferries up the Mamanucas and Yasawas. If you can ever get on it there's a cruise down to the Lau Islands - magnificent but you will be away for 1-2 weeks and head halfway to Tonga. You should book your accommodation in advance. Dealing directly with resorts can be painful - talk to wholesalers and retailers (e.g. Brian @ Exclusively Fiji). Get vaccinated for everything before you go. Get travel insurance that covers vehicle hire before you go. Buy as much duty-free booze as you are allowed - but buy it on arrival - it's cheaper than Australian airports. Lastly - in December - cyclone season - take your wet weather gear. In terms of resort tips - I've always liked the little out-of-the-way places up north (e.g. Volivoli Beach Resort if you like diving and snorkelling), down the Coral Coast (e.g. Intercontinental) or the backpacker-type hostels on the islands (e.g. Manta-Ray, Oarsman, Blue Lagoon). Just comes down to budget. If you have plenty of cash then JMC or Koro Sun up in Savusavu are great resorts to head to.

    • Is it worth hiring a car to go around the island (assuming staying near coral coast) or just staying at a resort for 4 nights?

      • Delayed reply. For sure - get a car (or better a 4WD) and drive around the island. Traffic can be slow, and driving can be terrible. So make sure you are fully insured (travel insurance + car insurance). Just stick to the speed limit too. Getting a speeding ticket is a painful experience. It's a very pretty place. The inland / highlands are lovely.
