  • What age group would these be for? Suitable for 10yo or a few years older?

    • +1

Prob a couple yrs older but maybe read through reviews etc.

    • +3

I just read some reviews and this is not really appropriate for kids IMHO. It's pretty woke with an Asexual theme in one of the books and sexual and drug exploration in loveless.

Too woke for the teenage girls in my family and not the sort of values I want instilled in them.

      • +7

While I tend to agree with you in regards to limiting exposure to these types of themes, the reality is they're going to be exposed to this kind of thing, no matter how hard we try and shield them from it. It's the world we live in.

Given this, I would rather support my 12 year old in exploring these topics, knowing she can come to me with questions, for support, etc. it's kind of I would rather know than not, because I wouldn't want her to hide it from me for when sh*t hits the fan for her in her life (like it has for all of us) and go through her woes alone.

        Food for thought.

EDIT: My daughter already asked for xmas "I was born for this", and she got her "Radio Silence" wet this week. This deal came at the most impeccable time for me, for once.

Yep. Will be passing on these dangerous ideologies.

      • thanks for the reply

Yes indeed “won’t somebody think of the children” go enjoy your non-woke beer Homer.

        • Yes we all should think about what pathway this society is heading down and I will do all I can to support family with questions and issues they have.

What I won't do is deliberately expose them to these ideologies and promote them as normal when they aren't. We continually have this pushed down our throats. My poor nephews and nieces (11 -13) are confused as hell when told a classmate identifies as a woman when clearly they are male.

Unless we start to push back things are going to get worse.

Also attacking me because of my username is so lazy and childish. What are you, like 10 yes old?

            @Homerlovesbeer:

are confused as hell when told a classmate identifies as a woman when clearly they are male

If they identify as a woman then they are a woman. How they look doesn’t come in to it.

@sween64: Let them decide when they're out of school (leave school) and of age to make those choices. People are turning into over-sensitive dic*heads. It's ok… you can have your grandemochalovafu**encchino with a splash of this and a hint of that with vegan almond milk, wearing your pointy shoes, tight skinny girl jeans, sipping on your 'trendy coffee' and tweet on a $2000 apple phone 'we're thinking of you' to people in the Ukrane (as if they're totally gonna read it because they're more worried about what people are tweeting over surviving the next day). Join the army, grow a pair, and be a bloody man!! Having to change bah bah black sheep to 'rainbow sheep' because it might offend people. Find me a bloody 'rainbow sheep' and we can change it. I've seen thousands of black sheep, even more white sheep, never seen a freaking rainbow sheep in my life. Freaking unicorns!
They should not be aiming these options at children, hinting it in kids books, or teaching it in schools

This wokeness trend shall also pass…

    • +4

I agree….young girls shouldnt be allowed to read books. Let alone ones that contain content that might relate to their life at that age.

Wokeness gone mad I tells you.

      • -2

Might.. Yes 0.1% chance they might encounter these modern "issues"

        • -1

Feel free to elaborate on what content in these books you consider to be woke "issues", compared to other young adult books on the fiction genre that you would recommend.

Teen girl fiction book content being a 'woke trend' is definitely a new high (or low) in what's considered complain worthy 'wokeness' these days. I'm not sure we can keep up with where the line is :)

      • I'm sorry, do you actually mean young girls shouldn't be allowed to read these types of books, or just any books at all?

        • +1

No need to force the issue or agenda, let kids build resilience through life experiences and problem solving

  • -3

No young mind should be reading these
