Thought that this was one movie, on it's 30yr anniversary, that was worthy of a deal post

Enjoy!

It was recently announced that the festive classic, restored in 4K with the previously-removed song 'When Love is Gone' finally added back in, would be getting a cinematic release starting December 2, and Digital Spy noted that it was set for Disney+ around a week later.

Now we can confirm that it is indeed exactly a week later on December 9. To access the Extended Edition, you'll need to go into the Extras section of the film's page on Disney+ and select it there.

    Needs poll imo

The poll is the vote button 😉

One of the best from the Muppets and first movie after the death of Jim Henson.

  • If I recall correctly, this isn't really suitable for little kids is it?

    • +3

Rated G, just depends how they go with the ghosts

    • +2

I watched it with my kids when they were 5 and 6. Only the 3rd ghost is a scary part.

      • +1

To be fair, any ghost is less scary than Rolf Harris.

    • Just tell the kids to leave the room during the orgy scene.

Good Christmas classic suitable for kids of all ages, plus some real drama, respect for the source material, and Caine's performance, all make it good enough for parents to watch with them.

The additional song 'When love is Gone' that was re-added was cut for a reason; it does sort of slow down a point of the movie that's better moving quicker.

But it also improves the film in multiple ways: the great love of Scrooge's life leaving him makes more sense (in the original she just sort of hints and then walks away, it's a bit unclear).

And the finale of the film is a reprise of this song, so in the original it seems like they just start singing this random song out of nowhere.

    So this version is best.

Easily one of the top 10 all-time best family Christmas movies, along with Home Alone, Arthur Christmas, Klaus, etc.

Yeah a nice article on it here

I had to do that small correction.

And, frankly, I'd put this in the top 5. Top 2 even, duking it out with Die Hard for the top spot.

      HUMBUG

My wife's favourite Christmas movie that she watches each year - she's very happy now. Already have Disney+, so the deal I'll get out of this is going to be a bargain! (Use your imagination ..)

      • ahm… she'll make you pancakes for breakfast as a sign of gratitude / out of happiness?

In every subs post there's always one guy who can't read, all in the name of using a neg.

Thanks for the heads up - this is the only Christmas movie we watch every single year without fail. Will be nice to see it restored.

This is neither a bargain nor a deal.

Why would anyone neg the Muppets?

      • -3

i expect to see ps5s for 400 dollars on this site.

        • Maybe you could post a deal for one?
