Thanks OP, needed one for the Christmas trip to remote areas.

You’re most welcome, enjoy your trip and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all OzBargainers out there!

  • any deal for recharges?

    • I've never seen a single deal for recharges with Boost. Unless I've missed something?
Better off porting out and porting back for deals.

  • +1

    Great faq. Bonza!

  • +3

FYI it seems they've limited the SIM purchases to two a day

    • Thanks, what’s the most you’ve done in the past?

    • i think they track how many sims you're ordering to a single address.
some commentators here have had success ordering to their address of let's say 5 David st and after they've reached the limit, they then order to 5a David st

  • +1

Thanks - this will be January taken care of. How many is too many?

  • +1

Does this mean if I don't activate in 30 days then the cashback is invalid?

    • Yep

  • +1

1100-1115 aest - sorry unable to process.. please try again later

Managed to buy one before getting this error message. Is there a hard limit? Have tried VPN/incognito/different credit card

    • +1

Got the same error even on first attempt. Managed to get two after trying a few times across 2 hours. Dodgy check out? :/

      • Pay some attention to your accounts in the next few days.

Some people mentioned that their purchases with error messages actually went through a few days later and got charged for those.

        • If the cashback is not tracked due to it, it is against the purpose of the deal.

        • Yes this happened to me. I didn't noticed until I checked my account after few days which the payments wasn't pending anymore. Spent 3 hours with customer service and they refused to refund me only agree to give me the credit for next recharge. But I'm porting my number out after 1 month so it wouldn't work for me. I guess I'll have to contact TIO for my money back…

  • +1

If I'm buying one for my partner using my CashRewards, should I use my details (current phone number, name, DOB etc) or hers for the Sim purchase?

    • +5

      Doesn't matter

  • Tempting. Trying to time coming off Telstra to be off for 30days before the s23 jb/telstra deals next year which would be around 10th Feb 23 onwards I'm guessing. Want to get off my off contract telstra plan now.

    • If you port from Boost to Telstra, telstra does not consider that as a new customer.

      • I know..so after 28days on boost I can port to another network for 30days.

Just checked and I'll be billed by telstra tomorrow. So no time to wait for sim card in the mail.

I'm guessing I can't pick up a free boost sim in store and then use the promo.

        • Ahh I thought you meant timing to be on boost as your off time from Telstra

          • @honeydew: Unfortunately with timing it just won't work out due to Telstra billing me 2moro. If I waited a month won't be 30 days when those specials are released (I'm assuming there will be as usual)

      • What about the other way around?

  • +1

    Stupid question time…

I already have a 365 day Boost SIM in my dual SIM phone with the same phone number I've had for years.

Am I correct in thinking I can order one of these, activate it and use it purely for the data for 28 days? That way I'll save some of my data on the other SIM.

I am 99.9% sure I can do this, but 0.01% of me gets the 'too good to be true' vibe haha.

    • +1

      Yes, you can!

      • Excellent, thanks for confirming. :)

Multiple SIM purchases need to be made as separate transactions. Adding more than one SIM to an order will result in an untracked purchase.

Does this mean if you buy 2, 3, etc you get cashback for each SIM? Or does it just mean buying more than one in the same order voids your SINGLE cashback?

    • Untracked sounds like 0 to me

      • -1

Yep, buying more than one SIM in the same order voids the cashback. But what I mean is… the way it's written can be taken two ways. If you read over it quickly without thinking too much about it, you naturally assume you get one cashback for every (solitary) SIM purchase… But it doesn't necessarily mean that. It could just be warning if you want more than one SIM, not to buy more than one in the same order. That does not mean we definitely WILL get a cashback on every solitary SIM we order. i.e. It could be only one cashback no matter how many we buy, or it could be 100x cashbacks if we place 100x separate orders.

  • Will I be able to receive calls if I don't port out or recharge after 28 days? How long does it last if I would like to keep the number? TIA

    • +2

I think any operator allows you to keep it for 3 months before losing service.

      • +4

Kogan is sort of an exception.

20 days is the period after plan expiry you have to continue receiving calls and SMS for free. After that, your number goes into an inactive state (unable to receive calls/SMS) and you need to recharge. This inactive state I think is for 3 months from plan expiry, or ~70 days from the end of the 20 day period I referred to above.

They have something in their FAQ explaining this

    • You can do that with a $5 Aldi starter pack for 365 days.

  • +2

Simo says you need to recharge every 6mths but Simo is a robot and does not express himself that clearly.
I interpret that to mean that although your sim has expired it lives on to accept incoming calls and sms for 6mths and the number can still be ported.
Correct me if I am wrong.

    • You are very correct. Same feature for Boost and Telstra prepaid.

  • Got one. Thanks OP.

  • +3

Cmon TA need some offers on 365 day sims!

  • Get this or risk sticking with the monthly $2 - $3 profit sim cards? More profit doing it monthly.

  • Code Expired already??

    • No? It still works. Did you select the $40 prepaid SIM on Boost?

      • +1

Yes I did select it… showed expired before. Just tried it again and now worked.

  • +1

Geesus really sim sluting is working, could just spend $10 a year by chaning providers each month if we keep getting deals like this

  • Can't buy this anymore, it says try again later.

    • Hi! Can you let us know what error you are getting?

      • Sorry, we are unable process your order. Please try again later.

        URL shows https://checkout.boost.com.au/consumer/boost/error#decline

      • last week I got the something went wrong message when ordering a boost Sim and the money was still taken out from your credit card but no boost order confirmation email and no cash rewards tracking ?
It was pending in my bank account for two days and transaction went through.

I did a couple orders the day before and a couple just before the above order. They have all arrived except the above order.

How do I get a refund with no order number ?

        • should've stopped that while it was still pending. (but tricky as you've made multiple orders) now perhaps contact the bank?

          • @tofu: Tried to stop it while it was pending.

Rang boost first, but without a order number, they couldn’t do anything
Rang the Bank. They said only merchant has the power to stop pending orders.

  • Hi all, anyone with Boost mobile please answer this?
While in overseas with Boost mobile, can we still get the SMSes from Australia? As some providers allow and some don't. I just wanted to check if Boost mobile sends the SMSes (mainly for the OTPs), I don't need to make calls or send SMS.

      • +1

        Thank you @bargainsgrabber

    • +1

The link shared by bargainsgrabber has people that have answered you.

Just adding to it with another data point - have been in Singapore for a week and been successfully receiving SMS on my Boost Mobile prepaid service.

FYI all you need for this is the telco to support "roaming" - which Boost Mobile recently enabled

      • Thanks @illumination for reconfirming.

I have been with postpaid for many years with Vodafone & 3, and always had the roaming ON, and it used to be no charge unless I answered calls.

With the crazy monthly plans, I switched to prepaid for the past 3 years, so unsure how it works.

        Thanks again both.

    • Short answer is YES! :)

  • Which carriers are people using for Sim hopping?

    Thanks

    • +1

Kogan unidays deal or whatever amaysim or Lebara Sim is cheap at Coles/Woolies. Often the supermarket Sim promos aren't listed anywhere but in-store. My local Woolies had a bunch of $14.90 Lebara Sims for $4, only place I saw it advertised was on the tag in the store.

      • Ive been using Kogan unidays too but need a 3rd sim because theyre all 28 days with a 30 days returning limit. So 2 days without calling or texting atm.

        • Yeah I have a second number I use during the gap. The Lebara Sims are 30 days if you can find em cheap.

        • Oh okay, so I left boost 2 days ago and onto Kogan - if I try to port back to boost it won't give me the bonus data but will still work otherwise?

          • @amberflamber: I think its Kogan which has the limitation. Happy to be corrected as i cant recall at the moment.

    • +1

I've listed some in this forum post.

      • ooo AMAZING! thanks!

  • After a few months of these deals already, have we figured out what's limiting us to 2-3 orders each time?

  • +2

Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including Sept 30 has been approved.

Approved up to OCT 31 now. Thanks!

    • That's correct :)

      • When will the next batch be approved?

    • Confirmed my Oct ones also got approved. Now waiting for three more transactions in Nov to get approved soon :D

      • How many Boost SIM cards do you have/need :O ?

        genuine question!

        • One for my phone, one for laptop, one for modem :)

  • Is this still active? The code BOOSTCASHREWARDS is not listed on the cash rewards page

  • My CB status just showed declined. Submitted enquiry and waiting for the update.
