Need a New Mobile for Daughter for Xmas under $400

The biggest "wants" are a 3.5 port, camera, battery, mSD slot, and cases easily available.

We've had some poor luck so far and it's been painful to try to eke out money's-worth staying with a sh1tty phone. I know $400 isn't much, but this year has been especially hard for us.

Thank you

Oh hello fellow person who also missed out on the Motorola g82 deal, for 200 bucks

    • I missed that price error but paid the actual $299 deal price. Great phone, worth it.

Samsung A23. Comes with all those and cases shouldn't be too hard to find as it's an Aus released phone. About $380ish delivered from eBay.

But be careful, I have heard that some of these phones were manufactured in April…

    • have heard that some….

      Stale conversations?..

    • I think you meant A33 ?

      • No, I meant A23 The A33 is way out of OP’s budget (by about $200).

        • i have had a cheap samsung and it was quite bad. i think other brands offer better budget phones.

      New Mobile
3.5 port, camera, battery, mSD slot, and cases easily available.

      No
      no, yes, no, no, yes

      • lol, true, but, mSD slot is soon to be history and everyone today uses bluetooth headphones.

  • iPhones don't come with a battery? They do run on smug I guess.

Does you daughter really care about a microSD slot? Wireless headphone are cheap these days.

An iPhone SE 2020 will also come with years of iOS updates. It is a perfectly cromulent choice.

  • OP, you don't say how old your daughter is.

If they are teenaged they probably want whatever their friends have, and the technical features are irrelevant. What would be most important for them would be to not get stuck with something all her friends would look down on her for having.

The stuff you are looking at is the techo stuff you and people like you - including me - think are important. You have to find out what is important to her.

      1. And what I listed is what she would like: "The biggest "wants" are a 3.5 port, camera, battery, mSD slot, and cases easily available." She's purchased before and ended up very disappointed. I'd like to find a gift that's necessary and good. She & my son are difficult to buy for (& me) because we don't really want "things". We have our computers, music systems and TV. Everything else seems superfluous. A family of Aspergers, really.
      • *No idea where that number 1 came from?

    • She's 23 and likes taking photos, listening to music.

  • are you looking for an old flagship or a new mid rage phone? also iphone or android? its almost impossible to get 3.5mm and mSD for an iphone.

    • Android, sorry. We're all MS/Linux/Android folk.

      • Don't be sorry. I really don't like iPhones myself and use a pixel. So do you want a old flagship or a new mid range phone? They should be about the same price but the old flagship will have more premium features.

  • I'm the tech person with the oldest PC and phone around- lol. Mine is a 5 yr old Xiaomi Mi Max 2, which will cause a heart attack if it dies.

Daughter had the love of her life phone, TCL which came with amazing BT headphones, and fell out of her pocket getting up from sitting and broke the corner with the camera (of course). But there were no cases. Next, she bought another OZB deal, but the phone is sh1t and locks up/lags (even after updating).

Help! I have no Xmas ideas for anyone and this is needed!
