I googled hard and found the CADR on this is 360 Cubic metre per hour. You need two filters replaced for this and average for deodoriser is 89 and the hepa filter is 160.

Xiaomi 3H is 380 and it usually goes under $200. Third party filters are available for 35ish each and you only need one.

    • trying to find a decent filter for my xiaomi currently, got any reliable links? gearbite has no stock and other places are a good $70 a filter

      • ebay … you could find aftermarket without RFID. You can then google on how to reset the Xiaomi unit to recognize aftermarket filter.

        • yea just looking for decent not just any

@quikstix: Yeah better to get the original equipment quality, none of this made in China stuff.

            • @goingDHfast: lols i know the original are from there but i've seen some really bad quality ones come when replacing my Phillips ones before

            • +1

@goingDHfast: Aren't they all made in China?

  • I didn't get the email, got me worried there.

Thought they kicked me out of perk due to multiple accounts but looks like it is generic code so not a perk benefit.

I'd recommend this Phillips one over the Panasonic one.

Philips Air Purifier 3000i with App Control, Removes up to 99.9 percent of Allergens from the Air, Room Size up to 104m², Amazon Alexa Compatible, CADR 400m³/h, White, AC3033/73 https://amzn.asia/d/6D002FT

    Currently 25% off.

    Also has WiFi.

    • I got a couple of Philips 2000i for the kids’ bedrooms and a 3000i for the living room, mostly to deal with Melbourne pollen making people’s asthma flare up. It’s a bit early to say for sure how much it helps but the air is now noticeably nicer to breathe inside on high pollen days.

      • I got 2 Philips 3000i for living area. 2 Philips 1000 for kids rooms. 2 dyson Hp03 to perform as fans and purifier. Hopefully it will work to reduce the hay fever.
All purifiers are 24 hours running.

    • No ionizer though.

    • Does Philips one have Nanoe-X?

  • +2

It seems this has high on-going cost. 159 for the filter, 89 for the de-odor filter

  • Received the same code too and seems to be for everyone who subscribed to the newsletter (not Perks).

Maybe its cause I'm poor but even at 50% off, its so expensive to me…

    • There are cheaper alternatives if you look around Xiaomi h3 does a pretty good job but best to do your research on what you want first

      • I bought one of the lower end Philips on special a few months ago and use it when I'm sleeping. Don't think I want to shell out any more money for another one for the living room. Especially at this price. These are really handy in Melbourne as we have so much trees giving people hayfever every single year.

    • With these type of devices you have to factor in the cost of filters. These look way too much compared to the others.

  • Yeah, as good as it is to see more competition in this field, ongoing costs are pretty high. Two year duty cycle on the filters, with a combined replacement cost of $270, so $135 a year. Not as utterly absurd as the Samsung AX90 with its $300 annual filter replacement costs, but still a lot. The Philips 3000i by comparison, requires replacement of a single $150 filter every three years, so $50 annually.

That said, I have no personal experience with any of these machines, at least not yet due to Bing Lee's extreme tardiness. I ordered a 3000i from them on Cyber Monday, and they haven't even processed my order, let alone shipped it. :|

Filter size determines how long it will work and how much it will clean. Saying one is more expensive than another without factoring cadr and lifetime is meaningless. Replacing filters doesn't need to be based on manufacturer's data. They don't stop filtering, they just become less effective.

    • Samsung may be expensive, but it certainly does what it's supposed to do. We have them running in all aerosol-generating procedures and in the wards in the hospital, and they've been checked by independent consultants to ensure that the filtration is up to scratch, so.

    • I bought one of those thin non-woven sheet filter which is meant for rangehoods and air con inlets (from Daiso), and used it as a prefilter for my Panasonic air purifier. I'm still on the original filter after 10 years. No blockage or reduced airflow. The thin woven sheet filter was disgusting though.

Absolutely ridiculous that a filter on the end of a fan can cost so much.

    • -1

Do you have any idea of the manufacturing process for hepa?

      • -1

Right, if that was the issue, the filters would be more expensive.

Don't get me wrong - I run an air purifier - I just don't see the value proposition.

  • What's the use case people get these for?

I'm in SA, have clean air, not water… Without filter, is it for inner city apartments?

People who are very subjective to pollen?

    Their partner stinks?

    • +5

Bushfire smoke. Backyard neighbour burning rubbish. Burning fuel to cook indoors. Pollen. Hayfever. Preventing Asthma onset and asthma attacks. Preventing cardiovascular and lung damage from pm2.5 particulates. Cleaning air when someone has a respiratory illness.

    • Dust (great breeze goes through my house but along with it nice amount of dust) and picks up stray small pet fur and any other small stuff in the air).
Also helps when cooking to remove smell and some of the smoke when it goes wrong :D

      • -5

If you need to remove the smell of your cooking you should learn to cook better lol

      • Pets are one I forgot, though I can't handle them inside personally.

    • Pollen in the air. Having it run does reduce hayfever occurrence in the house even without taking Zyrtec/Telfast/Claratyne.

  • I am in the market for an air purifier around this price but I am suspect re the lack of reviews on this unit and the fact it appears to be sold out everywhere else in the world. Seems strange for a product that only appears to have been released early this year. I note JB also has no stock of the filters. Think I will wait for the Philips 3000i to be price reduced again unless any one here has any other suggestions. I guess I do not want to be in the position of buying the Panasonic and having to replace the filters in 2 years and none being available

  • How would this compare to say a Winix ZERO+ PRO 5-stage?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Winix-Australia-Hospital-Exclusive…

  • Have had it for more than 6 months ($750). As an air filter, it works. Have had to give it (filter) a vac every 3 weeks.

Nanoe-x generator (3rd gen) is thing you really are paying for compared to other filters. Helps reduce all the nasties in the air, and does actually deodorise.

Made in china - if anyone is concerned.

  • Now on backorder, delivery only by 26 January 2023.
