MSI AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT GAMING Z TRIO 16G Graphics Card $999 + Delivery ($5 Most Areas/ $0 VIC C&C) + Surcharge @ Centre Com

610

Hey guys first Post, seems to be the cheapest price currently however is still more expensive than the ATL at $909. Surcharges: 1.2% Card & PayPal, 2% AmEx.

I reckon HODL as RDNA 3 drops in 7 days and suppliers will most likely drop prices further. But if you need one now, go for it.

Edit: Centre Com also has a 6800XT for $859 https://www.centrecom.com.au/msi-radeon-msi-rx-6800-xt-gamin…

  • I literally just bought a 6700XT for $600 today :-(

    • Fail

    • you know 6900xt has been 900$ for months now right?

      • +10

@Hornpub. No. It hasn’t. There was a Gigabyte a while back for 900 and that one Amazon deal for 900ish everyone keeps referring to, but since that deal the cheapest has been $1099 until this post.

@Powershopz enjoy your 6700XT mate, that’s still a decent deal.

      • It was available for a month recently, but has been unavailable again at that price

    • Well that's exactly why prices aren't dropping!

  • +4

    https://www.centrecom.com.au/gigabyte-radeon-rx-6700-xt-gami…

For $599 is a solid deal for one of the best reviewed versions of the 6700XT.

    • +7

I think you've gone and confused Powercolor, XFX or Sapphire with Gigashyte lol.

      • +1

Eagle - pretty meh. The Gaming OC was decent from some of the comparison articles i'd seen.

        • +2

I mean even if Gigashyte manages to match the GPU and memory temps of their competitors (they usually don't due to bad cooler designs with tiny fans), they're still using sleeve bearing fans, crap thermal pads and not sufficiently cooling the capacitors.

AMD AIB partners are excellent, so there's no reason to think about buying a Gigashyte AMD card unless it's a very good deal.

    • This Gaming OC one is about $35 more than the 6700XT Eagle I ordered earlier today (counting shipping cost). I assume they're not too different?
Really I should stop looking at these deals and overthinking it.

  • +3

Gaming X Trio is the same price. Buyers note that the Z Trio is the slightly better silicon model

Edit: never mind the X is sold out, but leaving comment just in case anyone was wondering the difference

  • The Rx 6900 XT was cheaper ($909.78) a couple of months ago but lots of people got face masks instead of the graphics card - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/732072

Centre Com also has a 6800XT for $859 if that interests anyone https://www.centrecom.com.au/msi-radeon-msi-rx-6800-xt-gamin…

"I reckon HODL as RDNA 3 drops in 7 days and suppliers will most likely drop prices further. But if you need one now, go for it" not sure about that, not a lot of stock around as it is and RDNA 3 is +$700.

7900xt\xtx isn't going to do anything for 6900xt prices as the 7900 is still going to release at $2300aud here. The 4090 and 4080 release actually caused 30 series prices to go up.

    • +1

There was a brief period when the 40XX released where a few retailers actually reduced their 30XX prices. It didn't last long though once the retailers saw no one else doing so and second hand prices didn't budge.

    • +2

7900 is still going to release at $2300aud here

GST + currency conversion puts the 7900 XT and 7900 XTX at $1,470 and $1,634 respectively, not sure why you think it's going to be $2,300. $1,500 and $1,700 seems more likely, for the reference models. And a $1,700 7900 XTX makes a $999 6900 XT look like pretty bad value.

      • Don't agree with that since not everyone has an extra $700 laying around, so compared to the $859 6800xt, a $999 6900xt seems pretty good. In a couple of months time a $1299~ 7800xt will potentially make it seem like bad value

        • It's 70% more price for 70% more performance, which is a "deal" in GPU terms as usually performance gains are exponent relative to price.

          so compared to the $859 6800xt, a $999 6900xt seems pretty good

It actually isn't, because the 6900 XT is 7% more FPS for 16% more price. The $859 6800 XT is the better purchase.

          • +2

@iseeyou1312: And yet despite all the "bad value" things like this and other cards keep selling out. It's almost like most people don't sit there doing stats because what it comes down to whats the most performance I can get for the money I can afford to spend. $1000 boom, a 7900 could be the best value in the world, its nearly double what I want to spend so hows that help me?…so people like you will then say hey 6600xt @ $350 is great value but that doesn't give me the performance I want. So in reality shopping by stats is bullshit and is really only useful for debating this on the internet.

            • @Osiris: So you really needed to pay 16% more for those extra 7% FPS, which is largely imperceptible to the human eye?

              • @iseeyou1312: Depends, it's like how 30fps to 60fps is really noticeable, while 100 fps to 130 fps is not that much. If you are playing games at 100-200Hz already then the extra fps doesn't matter, but if you are playing AAA games at 4k and struggle to hit 60fps all time then the extra 7% could be noticeable.

      • +1

Lmao by that logic, the 4090 should only have released at 2.4k yet it was released (and remains) at ~3k. Australia tax has always been a thing and it's quite sizable too.

        • Well, after conversion and GST it should have been 2.6k, quite a bit under what we got, but more than you think.

This would put the 7900XTX at 1.9k.

        • When the 4090 launched, the AUD/USD exchange rate was 0.62. So after GST the price should have been around $2840, or about $100 less than what it launched for.
But yes, the 4090 should be getting price cuts in Australia now that we're up to 0.68.

      • +1

4090's launch price was like $1599USD/$2380AUD, so with GST it should have been around $2600 here but it ended up being $2999aud

        • -1

USD/AUD was 0.62 at the time, not 0.68. It should've been around $2840.

      • +2

For what it's worth, the Aussie MSRP for video cards from the start of the previous generation has been almost always the US MSRP, plus 10% GST, plus another 13-15% "Australia tax". This has held true for almost* every model released since, up to and including the 4090 and 4080.

*The 3060 Ti was an outlier at over 21% Australia tax for some reason

    • $2300 will likely be the higher end XTX boards. I can see a fair bit lower for the more generic models. AMD pricing even outside of the MSRP advantage, appears to be less artificial than Ngreedia. We'll see though, something could go horribly wrong, we've got time yet.

    • +2

Agreed. The way new gen is priced allows old gen to remain at MSRP pricing essentially. I bought a used 6900xt for $850 earlier on ebay zip promo. Been waiting for months and don't want to pay 1800-2k for a gpu when I only game a couple times a week

      • +1

That was me with the ASUS RTX 3080 TUF for $1089 with the promo code yesterday; was wanting to give money to AMD for the first time this round but thought about the fact that I don’t game anywhere near as much these days and I’m still on 1440P anyway and this is the last component I’m waiting on for my new build. If the 7900XTX would come out at true MSRP (even factoring GST) I’d have waited but we all know it won’t and most likely be priced just shy of $2k which I can’t justify spending for the amount of gaming I do these days.

  • +13

Should have got that msi 6950xt deal, f***

    • +2

      Fonz?

      Eyyyyyy

  • +1

Just waiting on the 7900 xtx to drop at $2k+ and then these "last gen" should push up in price…

  • +1

    7900XT is coming
    How much it would be?
    $1999?

    • My guess would be US$899 -> AUD$1600 (~0.65 forex + GST)… this would be non gouging price… probably better off paying more for the XTX

      • +3

Since everyone wants to talk 7900 prices anyway, a retailer added gigabyte reference models into their system today with these prices $1789 xtx and $1619 xt (take with a grain of salt could be placeholders but I doubt).

        • Name of retailer or link?

        • man considering 999 USD = 1,470.51 Australian Dollar

but i guess third party retails are a bit higher, but this is a reference model! Ive set my budget to 15-16 hundred for the xtx…the biggest problem is having to pay import duties though… so dodgy.

      • You forgot to add the Australian tax

  • Had it in my cart and was trying to purchase. Waiting on a NetBank confirmation code and it sold out.

    • Maybe the bank ought to compensate you with the lost opportunity cost?

      • +1

        I wish haha.

The world is trying to tell me I shouldn't have a decent graphics card.

Was going to buy a 3080 for $1300 in February 2020. Decided - Nah i'll wait a few weeks, I'm not buying the rest of my parts until April. Never ended up getting a graphics card.

Missed out on the $909 6900xt a month or two ago - had it it my cart and it went to sold out.

Missed out on the $530 ATL 6700XT last month stuffing around with the ZIPAY setup.

        Now missed out on this.

        • I know how you feel, it still hurts not getting a 3080 on release. The card could've paid for itself at least thrice over by mining ETH during 2020-2022. Buying any GPU now just feels bad, especially when they're basically at the same MSRP as they were two years ago, apart from a few AMD cards.

6600 XT for $330 was the real deal and new unconfirmed ATL - https://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-dual-radeon-rx-6600-xt-oc-…

After seeing the last few weeks including Black Friday, this battle between FOMO gamers and greedy AIB's is going to continue for quite awhile

Retailers are caught in the middle with a truckload of stock purchased at ATH mining prices

Unless they want to take a 50% hit, they're waiting for AIB's to hand over some cash so they can selectively sell down stock

Until Jensen stops manipulating the RTX 30 series market pricing, hoping for big downwards price moves with NVIDIA and AMD is like hoping for competition between Woolies and Coles

Intel could do an Aldi and cause some waves with a $499 A770 but everyone seems to be very comfortable with the current GPU cartel

PNY Epic X dual 3060 also on sale for $399.
Centre Com is preparing for the 7900XT(X) launch next week.
Someone might realised 7900XT might destroy 6900XT, hence the price cuts.
The leak also indicate 7900XTX is 57% faster in Geekbench than 6900XT using Vulkan API: https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-radeon-rx-7900-xtx-has-been-…

    • There's quite a few 3060 12GB starting from $399. Are they all the same in terms of specs and performance?

      • You could said they are the same in gaming performance, unless you count every 1-2 fps is "differences". What you are choosing here is different brand (therefore customer service and past experience difference), aesthetic look and case compatibility (for example the Asus Phoenix 3060 is 177mm length, pretty good for SFF build).

        • Fair point, I've got Lian-Li Q58 case, looks like I can only go for a single or dual fan GPU.

  • was gonna buy it but others have said the temps are quite high so decided not to.
Maybe a different model or manufacturer but not this specific MSI GPU has crazy temps.

  • Gosh darn it that went so fast….. FML

  • +4

I Remember when people told me that the prices would plumet after 4000 series release and AMD announcement and that anyone was crazy to buy before that. Look at us now, lmao.

    • Delayed FOMO sales

Comments in recent deal threads saying "prices looked more reasonable, got one for my kid to upgrade" or "my build couldn't hold out any longer, $50-$100 extra is fine"

If you've held out for this long, your time will come

      • +2

I have the opposite thinking, if you haven't waited for long then keep waiting. But if you wait for like a year plus then what's the point for waiting for another 3-6 months? To beat the ATL for like 10-20$ buck less? Time is money, and we are really cheapening our time with the ridiculous HODL. Obviously if the current GPU serves your needs well then you can hold for whatever amount of time, but if you find it struggling to keep up with new games then spending now is not that bad. Not buying the product at ATL price doesn't make a person loser lol.

        • +3

I bought an Aorus Elite 3060ti for $700 in April.

          8 months of usage

I'm laughing at these hodlers wasting months of free time to save $100, if theyre lucky

      • +1

I don't think the time is going to come personally. GPU manufacturers have taken advantage of the fact that their high end cards in terms of power are significantly ahead of their previous top end options and released them first. Doing this has allowed them to justify the higher price of their new cards and retain the pricing of the previous generation being phased out. While there's no new gen equivalent cards to directly compete with the 6000 series there's essentially no reason for them to significantly discount the prices from where they are now. Stock is very low already for the previous gen top end cards and I'd say they'll be timing the new releases to occur when there's practically nothing left. My thoughts as someone who just copped a 6800XT for $740 are:
        - cards about to be released are priced WAYYY higher than the previous flagships and out of the budget of a good portion of people
        - 25% GPU tariffs could lead to increase in MSRP's
        - no announcement on low and mid end cards meaning we could be a fair ways from seeing them on shelves
        - every chance there could be low stock and scalpers if the pricing turns out to be good meaning an even longer wait for cards

    • To be fair, Nvidia are sitting on at least $4b of inventory even though they're about to start paying a 25% tariff come January (the Nvidia board should be in open revolt) and crypto miners have been extremely hesitant to dump their GPUs.
This is somewhat unexpected because they dumped after the last crash but ETH was still a thing. Now it seems GPU mining is finished indefinitely, but I guess it's mentally hard to take a 50-75% loss on what you paid for a GPU.

  • +4

Funny that we're now getting the deals (in limited quantities) that we were expecting during BF.

  • Eat that Nvidia Capitalists

  • Back in stock guys

    • +1

cap? or did it sell out again :(

      • Sold out in like 15 minutes again, doubt it’ll come back again though

  • The 6800 XT is still tempting, but so close to the edge of what will fit in a CM NR200P case. Anyone have experience with this case and a similarly large GPU? My last SFF build the GPU technically fit, but I couldn't actually get it in position.
    MSI GPU size: 324x142x55mm
Case space spec for GPU: 330x156x60mm

    • I’ve been HODLing for a lifetime on Dan Lian Li AIO H20, 5900x, 6900xt setup. I’ve seen lists of cards that are guaranteed to fit.
I’m sure NR200P is a lot more common, and lists exist or Reddit and other sites

Pretty sad to see so much demand despite ex mining supply.

Gamers can't wait I guess. Why pay $50 less than 7 months ago on the eve of rdna3. Sucked in bigtime
