  • Same price when bigw had the sale of the 2020 version. I recommend this instead if just the updates incomming for it.

  • If you're buying in-store, SM-P613 is what you're looking for.

SM-P610 is the old 2020 version

    • The link OP posted is titled SM-P610 so I guess this is the older 2020 version sadly, not the new 2022.

      • I can confirm that it showing the SM-P613 (2022) at the Samsung Education Store

        • Oh wait I do see it under the name on the page. Hopefully it is indeed the 2022 one and they just didn't update the tab title.

          • @Menzoberranzan: Someone probably just done a copy pasta on the page thats why the tab title is still the old model name.

  • Unless this tablet was made in December I dont want it

I dunno dude. As an avid apple fanboy myself, this is pretty good darn value for money. Particularly when it has additional SD card slot for videos, files, music and the s-pen included as well. I’m probably looking at least double the price for something apple equivalent.

I just realised that Samsung re-released the S6 Lite, no idea why they used the same name…

    GSMArena Comparison

    • Yeah it was done quietly. New Snapdragon chipset but everything else identical to the 2020 version. Most believe there will be 3-4 major updates starting again from 2022.

  • Where do you sign up to get the $50 newsletter code?

  • good bang for buck, not sure you could find anything this good for this price.

    .edu.au email required?

Anyone know any free online courses that provides an .edu email?

  • Is this better than the A8?

Please don't get this, it's laggy even for the most basic tasks. Save your money and get the cheapest iPad instead.

Updated model. New processor. Are you talking about previous generation? From a value perspective this would win hands down vs Apple.

  • "lite " version is good ?

    • +1

This one got a snapdragon cpu. Updates galore from samsungs new update policy. Guaranteed to get netflix hd content as no issues with widevine level.

A review - in summary no good for games but otherwise pretty decent. The xiaomi pad is significantly better but unlikely to get the software support this one will have.

    • silly question: why does it matter if the tablet doesn't get any software updates? Is it just for security reasons or will stuff stop working?

      • Updates do sometimes provide useful features. And yes security updates are nice too.

As for stuff stop working. Thats usually after many years of no updates.

Thankfully this having a snapdragon cpu lineageos support may extend the life of this product.

This still has 4GB RAM, even the 128GB model is 4GB RAM. I'm doubtful that being a new model with a better SoC removes the lag issues on these low RAM devices. This is also an issue for all the positive comments about getting future updates, because historically android updates increased lag issues. Budget 3GB RAM devices that had minor lag issues a few years ago have become pretty frustrating to use now.

You can get the same deal if you go through westpac rewards - no need for edu email

  • Just curious does this have the oled screen?

    • +1

Nope, The Tab S6 Lite has a TFT LCD Panel.

Only the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ and S8 Ultra has an AMOLED Display.

      • Remember back the day, my work galaxy s2 had AMOLED screen, loved it so much. Watching movies/videos on it. Not so sure about TFT.

        • +1

Yeah, I recently purchased a Galaxy Tab S4 (2018) refurbished for around $279.00 as my S10.5s (2014) was getting clunky. The AMOLED screens are great. The S4 still flies along although old and screen is much nicer compared to the S6 lite and has a better processor. Pity about the old Android though :-)

      • +1

My Samsung tab S5E has AMOLED also, seems discontinued now though. Still a good tablet for me

        • +1

Yeap, that's the Feb 2019 release and upgradable to Android 11, One UI 3.1. My S4 only got as far as upgradable to Android 10, One UI 2.0. Either way still decent Tablets even in 2022.

  • Anyone had any luck using a different email to get a second $50 code? I have an edu email, but have already used the $50 sign up code.

    • Nope, signed up using different emails and still nothing after more than 48 hours.

Email them, and they said they have 'raise the issue with their back office team' and may take 2–10 business days…

  • Im still waiting for the code as well….Its been 3 days….

  • Managed to get Officeworks to match and beat the price. No code, but no stuffing around and I've got it now

    • Did they beat $334?

If yes, I'd be interested to get a copy of the receipt please.

      .

      • +1

Just the $384. Needed it sooner rather than later though, so wasn't too fussed

    • In store or online? Can you PM me your receipt so I can attempt the same? (And yes I know it’s the 384 price not the extra $50 off)

  • +1

Has anyone successfully used the $50 newsletter code on this? I didn't receive my code so had to email them for it, and their manual code they provided doesn't seem to be working. Another 2-10 business days for them to investigate.

    • +1

Same issue here. I had to contact them for a code (which I received this morning). Tested the code at both the Public and Education Store and it said 'invalid code'.

      • FYI they still haven't gotten back to me, but on a whim I tried the same code again today and it ended up working.

    • -1

Agreed, this code thing is a scam. No code at all even after following up and having my case "escalated".

    • I used an email code I received a year ago for the 128GB version and it worked

      • Wouldn’t happen to have a spare? 😂

  • Still don't have code either.

  • Finally got the code after sending an email but not its showing OOS :(

    • +1

Same here, code finally arrived this morning after almost 2 weeks of back and forth.

And now the 64GB is out of stock…

      • I went ahead and ordered the 128GB version for $404.
