That's pretty impressive, I remember reading lots of issues with the first releases of receivers with HDMI 2.1.

  • Tempting. Those 4K120 & 8K60… pity it only got 1 toslink. Time to upgrade my VSX-1191 maybe.

      Done.

Visited SpaceHiFi store and price matched. Top bloke.

  • Didn't pioneer used to pump out higher wattage per channel Amps?

    • +1

Yes, I have a VSX-LX60. Very old by today's standards, but with a nifty eARC adapter here https://amzn.asia/d/gODBMbc (has since doubled in price from when I ordered it) I got more life out of mine. It has 100x6 @8 ohm.

Seriously with earc I just don't see the point in upgrading amps anymore. As long as it supports the major codecs (DD Plus is common now for all streaming services) there is no difference. Yes I did enjoy pushing everything through my amp previously but now I don't need to worry about upgrading my amp when I upgrade my tv.

        That's a good solution !

So I guess you use the HDMI box to send the 4K picture directly to your display, and the audio separately to your older none-4K Receiver ?

Where does ARC fit into the picture ?

And I guess you need to buy one of these boxes for each of your source devices ? Or can you connect everything else directly to your display and rely on the ARC to get the audio back to the Receiver with just a single box ?

Not quite Nom. Much much simpler than that, though i do think the box does support that method.

So my older amp sounds amazing and supports all the codecs you would need. It doesn't however have e-ARC. E-ARC is a standard solution that allows a TV to spit out just the audio to a seperate amp or receiver that also supports eARC. All modern TVs support outputting to eARC. eARC is always output over a HDMI cable.

This little e-ARC adapter box thingy basically takes the e-ARC signal from the TV, intercepts it, strips out the eARC header stuff and sends the normal codec back to my 12 year old amp. One cable from the tv to the box, then another from the box to the amp. That's it. Works perfectly.

It has another configuration setup similar to what you said, but I never used it as my setup didn't need it.

  • Should I get this or the Denon S760H for the same money?

Have a 7.2 setup currently with Denon 2113.
