        I think because it won’t face track you unless you use their proprietary app and that’s touted as a primary feature of it. Belkin probably thinks if you video call you want your phone to be able to face track you.

    Bought one when I received the email this morning. I will not use its fancy face tracking or whatever, instead, it will be a phone holder only. After checking the phone holder price on eBay and Amazon, $15 is not too bad.

      I was thinking that too but I have an iPhone 11 so guess not compatible and assume for newest phones if you had a case you’d need to remove it so the phone can be magnetic to this holder

        curious also so i did some research, the Belkin video ad declares "Level up your content game" so if you are makeing a video of yourself, and you have the proprietary Belkin app installed, then the app teslls the stand to rotate as the app is tracking your face - the batteries are to make it rotate left to right as you move about

        anyhow i bougtht one just to have as a magnetic desk stand

    As an engineer with 25+ years in Product Development, I hope the lead product designer on this project has been "moved on". How you could possibly think it is ok to release this product without the ability to simultaneously charge your phone is beyond belief!

      Well to be fair its using 3 AA batteries. Doubt how useful that could be to charge a phone and power the swivel motors at the same time.

      Perhaps powering it using mains outlet would be better?

        Yes, I think mains powered with an internal rechargeable battery that could at least charge your phone fully once would be the minimal expectation from a customer.

    It was around this price on Amazon as "Used - Cosmetic imperfections". Seems like most people who bought it new returned it as well because after I purchased there was still the "Used" option ones available at the lower price.
    For the low price I thought I could just have fun with it. It was crap. Tracks very slowly and loses detection easily.
    Don't see how it could be used as a reliable phone mount either because it's very light in weight and not bottom heavy even after putting in batteries.

    It's just sitting in the corner of my room in it's box after using it once. Was hoping to give it to someone who might like it but haven't been able to. It will probably be unwanted by the person I give it to as well.
