Scrutinise Checkout Pricing at Costco on Specials

At Costco I’ve recently had a couple of incidents where the price that rang up up the checkout wasn’t the discounted price for the product. This is, especially, true of the ones in the scratch and dent area; but even ones on the normal shelves can be incorrect. I’ve taken to photographing the price on specials to show them to the checkout person in case there is a discrepancy. The other day I caught one incorrect price and missed another one. I went to the customer service counter and they fixed it. The odd thing is they said “this is yesterday’s price” but the photo, clearly, shows the special should’ve been to the 22/12.

Just giving people the heads up to be alert. Maybe put the specials first and watch the price coming up on the customer side; double check the receipt before you leave. Just thought I’d give the heads up.

Maybe I’m “special” but I thought it was standard practice to check every single item to make sure it scans at the correct price.

I suspect a lot of people assume the prices are correct. Also, I’m impressed if you can remember the shelf price on everything you buy; particularly at Costco. :)

      • Never been to Costco, but it’s pretty easy to remember prices from coles/wools when only shopping from a list unless something is on clearance.

Costco has large trolleys. I’ve seen people put $1,000 through the till in one go. There isn’t an online reference for the prices. With Colesworth you can, usually, look up a price online.
