[eBook] Free PDF - The Arcade 'Encyclopedia' 1977-1979 (Was US$1) - Itch.io

310

This 'encyclopedia' of arcade game machines from 1977-1979 is currently free (normally US$1), though I'm unsure for how long. It's by DaddaRuleKonge who has done some great stuff featured a year or two back by @dealbot and @lysander.

Credit to HotUKDeals.

Note that you will need to setup an Itch.io account (if you don't already have one) to access this.

Other titles are available and, though not free, are very cheap. Correction: See Update Below

Enjoy

Update: @FreeFrag has kindly pointed out that many of the other e-books by DaddaRuleKonge (including "The Arcade 'Encyclopedia' 1970-1976") are free… they ask for a suggested amount to pay but you can choose not to do so. You can find them here… https://daddarulekonge.itch.io/

He has another volume covering the earlier years but it's not free (US$2 I think)

      • The early stuff Atari did like that analogue star fight game is interesting

If you mean this one: The Arcade "Encyclopedia" 1970-1976, it's actually free as well.
He has lots of other similar free ebooks here: DaddaRuleKonge

Thanks @FreeFrag The screen I looked at on itch.io showed prices on most of the e-books so I didn't click through. I'll add this info to the post.

Anyone want to share a direct link to avoid sign up?

    • +2

That will most likely be copyright infringement. Just sign up with fake info and temp email

    • yes please

  • Can anyone tell me if it has space stranger in there?

    • It sure is! Page 112

    • Yes: Space Stranger is a rare Bootleg of Space Invaders. Note: I am not sure if there is a difference between Space Stranger and Super Space Stranger, or if it’s just a name change. Manufacturer Yachiyo Electronics. Release 1978-1979

      • Oh thanks. Ill check it out then!

This guy has many books and most available free, but in several places he admits that the information is taken straight from Wikipedia and that he made these books out of boredom. Might be better to read Wikipedia!
