Does Third Party Window Tinting Void New Car Warranty?

Hi all, just wondering if I tint my new car with a third party provider, would that normally void the car warranty?

I did not go with the dealer tint since it’s quite expensive.

    Nope.

Ordinarily no, unless the Glass is being removed and the door panels are opened.

If you have NRMA Blue https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/732729 consider the 20% off Tint a Car Benefit.

^^^This is the situation. Any part of the car that was not touched by the 3rd party windows tinting retains its warranty. But the warranty is in doubt for any directly involved. For example as the poster above says, the doors that were worked on to fit the window tinting. If any fault occurs with them you would have to prove that it wasn't contributed to by the 3rd-party who worked on the car.

As long as it's legal ……

What illegal tint voids warranty 😅

    • No, even if it's illegal it will not void warranty.

Next thread will ask about aftermarket floor matts and warranty.

    • But what about aftermarket floor gloss’?

    • If I wear knock-off sunglasses while driving, does that void car warranty?

      • What about if you wear authentic Ray-Ban but steal someone elses car?

        • what if you downloaded the car?

      or aftermarket oil filters

  • some car came with clear security film …. so any 3rd party tint layered on top would obviously void the security film warranty, but no biggy as it doesn't cost much to remove bubbly / defective film and replace with new tints

  • Not sure why you would want to "tint my new car" - most owners just tint their car windows.

  • Thanks all! Also when I said tint i mean tint my windows!

I think most of us understood too that when you talked about a "dealer tint" you weren't going to tint the dealer.
