I'm planning on signing up for my first half Ironman in Melbourne for 2023.
I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but I'm cautious about buying an entry so early when I may be able to save with a coupon later on. I've tried the usual coupon sites / browser extensions with no luck.
Is it common for Ironman events to have promotions leading up to the race? Has anyone else had experiences with this (or is also joining this event)?
Is the half cut horizontally or vertically?
Do you get the top half or bottom half?
Which ironman weapons do you get to keep given it is only half?

Most of these events were not have early bird discounts so they can find the event lead up. If they don’t have a full grid they may offer some cheaper tickets towards the end, but there’s a chance you’ll miss out of its already full.
You may be able to get a cheaper entry from someone who can’t make it last minute, but a risk of not getting in as well.
