Virgin Australia: 10% Cashback on Domestic Flights ($50 Cap Per Member) @ Cashrewards

462

A nice cashback increase on cashback for Virgin domestic flights and a pretty good deal if you fly regularly or wanting to book flights now (I'm thinking Brissie personally). There's a $50 cap per member and it ends 11:59pm AEDT 12/12.

Special Terms

Cashback is not available until full completion of a flight. For return flights, completion is satisfied once both legs have been consumed.

Cashback is eligible only on the net ticket value, excluding GST, other taxes, levies, and surcharges.

Cashback is ineligible on: (1) flights paid in part or in full with Velocity points or Virgin Flights credits (cancellations etc); (2) self rescheduled flights (airline imposed rescheduled flights are eligible); (3) use of any voucher codes; (4) flights booked via the Virgin Australia mobile app.

You must return and click through from Cashrewards every time you make a new booking/transaction.

    Cashback is ineligible on… (2) rescheduled flights;

So you can lose the cashback if the airline reschedule your flight through no fault of your own?

    • +1

Perhaps but Mrs SS flew to Cairns and back from Sydney in November. Flights booked in September then in October Virgin changed the return flight number and then the departure time twice. Cashback was paid on December 1.

      • +2

Yeah it's not been an issue for me either. I suspect it's flights that you reschedule yourself.

        • +1

You’re spot on. Please see my comment below. Thanks.

Crappy clause. They penalise you when it's not your fault

    • Disappointing you never revoked the vote.

Rescheduled flight and no cashback - WOW - No thanks

Hi. The condition applies only to flights you reschedule yourself. Terms now updated for clarity:

Cashback is ineligible on: (1) flights paid in part or in full with Velocity points or Virgin Flights credits (cancellations etc); (2) self rescheduled flights (airline imposed rescheduled flights are eligible); (3) use of any voucher codes; (4) flights booked via the Virgin Australia mobile app.

@Clear, can you please update the OP. Thank you :)

Amex members may have the spend $675 get $200 offer too

    • +4

Between the amex offer, this cashback and the $200 price difference between economy and business on the date I'm looking at, it's pushed me to purchase business lol.

      • +2

When flying for surgery the price difference was $20 between economy and business. Had to justify that to the government for the refund, as they don't really see the extra $$ as being worth it 😅😅

At least looking at flights next year they're back to being $100ish.

Used to fly with them every week , if you fly between 5-7pm you will get some drinks and snacks served. Now nothing and still charging exorbitant pricing

    • +8

You clearly haven't seen QF's pricing and what you get for it these days.

      • +6

They'll throw and break all your luggage for free though.

        • -2

That can happen on any airline, including VA. It just so happens that those contractors were working on a QF flight at the time. Depending on the airport, those same Swissport contractors could be working on VA and ZL flights as well.

        • -1

Swissport contractors work for VA at MEL, those employees in that video would be rostered to VA flights too!!!!

          • +1

@AircraftFreight: I wasn't referencing just that video. Plenty of stories weeks prior 😉

    • Virgin is still shit though

  • Any cashback program for international flights? :)

  • Damn, booked flights literally a few days ago for double points offer. Not bad if they stack though!

  • Still hasn’t tracked for me after about 10 hours. Anyone have experience how long it usually takes to track from Virgin through CR?

    • Same here, using Firefox on desktop.

    • Mine tracked in about 30 mins this afternoon. Booked on a laptop using Chrome.

    • Hasn't tracked for me too from last night ~10pm Brisbane time.

    • I booked 2 days ago, hasn’t tracked.

    • +1

Still hasn't tracked for me (from Monday night). Any thoughts, @tightarse?
