Is It Normal That a Myer Order Comes from China?

I purchased Prada sunnies from Myer as a birthday gift for my wife. Took a while for them to get shipped out. When i clicked on the provided tracking it shows me that the item is coming from China. Today it arrived in a sunglass hut box.

I am slightly confused, i am not a regular Myer customer. Is this normal?

    Google Luxottica.

    Luxottica own Prada
    Luxottica own sunglass hut

Myer is probably just dropshipping from Luxottica to reduce handling costs.

Luxottica produces $3 sunglasses, adds a licensed brand label and sells them for $300 to mugs.

So is the every other fashion brand.

  • Was it sold by Myer or a Myer marketplace seller?

    • By Myer itself.

Just checked a few items from the Prada sunglasses range on the Myer website and none of them were available for click and collect or had stock in any of the Myer stores.

From my experience, this is generally a sign the product is being sent by a third party.

As mentioned by previous commenters, all Myer sunglasses are supplied by Sunglass Hut, who ship from China.

There is a recipricol post arrangement between china and Aus. That means, if a company can get cheap enough shipping for the China leg of the journey, the rest is free.
Often they can get the chinese government to subsidize the postage.

For a company as big and shifty as Luxottica, its would be in their nature.

How long did it take to arrive?

    • Its not quite how it used to be. A few years ago, you could order small electronics parts from China for 99c shipped.
Now you order a bunch at a time to save on postage. Though untracked slow post is still possible on small items for maybe $3.
