      To answer your questions:
      - It’s typically just a handful, no real measurements are given
      - I’ve honestly got no clue
      - Supposed to be 10-15 mins
      - Should be steam cleaned every 30 mins to 1 hour however this is nearly impossible to achieve due to the high demand
      - 24 in every bag
      - Franke

      • It’s typically just a handful, no real measurements are given

        14 grams
        In a Big Mac it's 28 grams

        I’ve honestly got no clue

        Heated Landing Zone

Seems you've got a bit to learn young grasshopper 😊

        • Getting there :)

          This is embarrassing…

  • Are the beef patties fresh or frozen?

You don't know much about basic fast food do you? 😂 Of course the meat is frozen

      • Thanks. How about the bread?

        • +1

          All bread is fresh

        • Yeah…15 years ago the bread didn't seem to be filled with preservatives either, if you leave it exposed to air it'll be noticeably bad pretty quick.

    • Frozen raw and get cooked when needed :)

    • during manufacturing process, they use all kinds of meat and offcuts to grind it into minx patties, i dont remember they putting any additives or seasoning during the manufacturing of paddies, they get frozen and pick pack 60-120 paddies into a box

      • +2

They don't use "off cuts" it's actually pretty good quality meat they use part fresh, part frozen ground together. Source I've been to the factory many times when they were making them here in Sydney years ago. The sausage patty is the only one I'm aware of that gets the seasoning, obviously and that was done in the same factory/machines.

We used to buy the rump steak bulk from the same factory and cut it up into various ways, it was good meat

  • How often do you have to drop apple pies?

    • +2

      Roughly once every 1-2 hours

  • +2

Are the ‘chicken n cheese’ burger patties the same as McChicken patties?

    • +4

      Yep, no difference between them

      • why is 1 so so so much more $$?

  • What are some of the most weirdest special requests you've seen?

    • +1

Once had an order for 5 slices of cheese and a pickle. Really weird but I guess everyone has their reasons.

      • A whole pickle or a slice?

        • +3

          Just a slice of pickle

          • -3

@jdeals1: A woman is have a baby that why. pickle cheese they have hard process cheese

  • +2

What's the KPI for leaving items out of orders? Are better results achieved for leaving more stuff out? Would just handing someone an empty bag get a 5/5 score?

    • +2

Everything should be included and food will only get left out if we’re extremely busy with limited time to complete orders.

  • Creme brulee pie - Is it coming back? If no, why/when?

    • +1

Not permanently however it’s likely it return as a promo item in the future. It was really popular and I don’t know why it isn’t permanent

  • Is there a time per customer when in drive through?

    • I think it’s around 120 seconds per order from speaker to window

  • +1

I am really lovin it but do you think burgers are better at hungry jacks?

    • maccas is always best

  • +2

I order Maccas through DoorDash every now and then, so I'm curious..

Do the staff start prepping the order as soon as the order has been confirmed or when the dasher arrives at the store?

also, from an ex-fast food employee, may you have mercy on your soul..

    • Not really sure of this as I work in food production. I just follow any orders that appear on a screen

    • I have done small amount of delivery during Uber eats promotion. Picked up some maccas order in that period. Staff prepare food ASAP. So when delivery driver arrives, it's either ready or not. If it's not ready, driver can press button on app "order not ready", that in the long term slightly adjust Ubers' calculation.

With your work experience, do you feel more confident cooking at home?
At family BBQs, are you BBQ guy?
When you cook at home, does it smell and taste like Maccas?

    • +2

It’s made pretty much no difference, all McDonald’s work is pretty repetitive and doesn’t really help with everyday cooking

  • McDonald’s fries in Australia contain dextrose. Do you know if that is added before or after frying? Interestingly, McDonald’s fries in the US contain 19 ingredients (as opposed to only 4 in Australia). The fries are apparently fried, frozen, then fried again before sale.

    • +1

The only thing added to fries before or after cooking is salt, so there shouldn’t be any other chemicals.

    • Twice cooking fries is a method to make sure fries stay crispy.

      • yeah Oz fries are regularly disappointing..

  • +13

What do you think of half a slice of cheese melting to the box?

    • +3

Hey, maybe that's off topic but how did you go with "Neighbour Fence Dispute", after the 2nd update? 🤔

  • Why is it that when I bring an order back that is untouched like say they made the wrong burger that they take it back and chuck it out before replacing it with the right one, why wouldn’t they just tell me to keep it anyways?

    • +17

If you got given two burgers then everyone would try doing it :)

  • Were you a Bitcoin investor that got wrecked by the Crypto crash before you started working a Maccas?

    • +7

Not quite that stupid luckily :)

  • Why is rutherford McDonalds the worst in Australia can't even make a cheeseburger properly?

    • +1

Each McDonald’s is run by a different licensee and different managers who each have different standards. Some McDonald’s just don’t enforce standards as strictly and therefore the end product suffers.

  • Would we ever get the magical Curry Sauce for nuggets that is available in other countries?

    • Probably not permanently but maybe as a promotional item

    • Pretty sure it was here like 4 months ago. Unless the one in other countries was different?

  • Has the (vanilla) soft serve product changed just recently? Seems a lot more “icy”.

    • Not really my department, however maybe the addition of chocolate ice cream means that there could’ve been changes to how things are made

  • What should I do if I notice my take away order is not accurate after getting back home? My last order missed all 4 main items from Happy Meal, missed all 4 toys.

    • +5

It won't happen again! That is, after incurring the mega wrath from your kiddos, you will never leave a Maccas - EVER AGAIN - without confirming that all required items have been received.

      • +1

Yeah always best to double check. You’re much more likely to receive the items if you notice earlier rather than later

    • I once complained about this online(after I got takeaway home) when I got a McChicken instead of a McSpicy meal and got a $10 voucher in the mail.

  • I had a friend who worked at McDonalds in the Sydney CBD back in the day when it used to be popular.

He told me that if you were working the grill during rush hour and dropped a patty on the ground the manager would give you a look that meant "pick that back up and put it on the grill". Anyone who didn't do this had their shifts cut. During non rush times he would expect you to throw it out.

    Does this still happen?

    • +4

I’ve never seen this happen before and hope that no one got sick before. Sure, managers get annoyed when you waste product but they realise that you probably shouldn’t give someone food poisoning

  • Is there any cat meat in the burgers?
    If not, why not?

    • I’m sure a McCat burger would sell well…

      • +20

Just needs a good name. Like the (profanity) Pounder.

I love the fact that the profanity tag has replaced the word you wrote but everybody knows what you meant and it makes it just that much funnier 😂

  • +3

Do you guys put dihydrogen monoxide in your ice for the drinks?

    • +1

Yes and also the soft drink water is treated with dioxides to enhance the taste.

  • Has there even been a case of food posioning at maccas.

What makes their food standard hygiene so great

    • Their food safety is ok, but not the greatest. I actually got food poisoning a few years ago when I wasn’t working at McDonald’s and now I can probably see how.

      • I once got a burger with mould on the buns

        • Oh man, I never get any mould on mine!

    • Funnily enough during the manager training course you actually look at KFC and a case of food poisoning giving a child brain damage.

  • Do employees ever spit in burgers of annoying customers?

    • +4

Never saw this in my time at maccas back in the day but I'd do petty revenge stuff like, oversauce their burger, add extra pickles, skip the tomato sauce on a hamburger, oversalt their fries, or give them the oldest piece of beef I had lying around. Spitting in a burger is gross AF, I reckon someone would have to shit on the floor inside before we were mad enough to spit in their food.

      • +4

I'd piss you off just to get burger made how I like it, extra sauce, extra pickles, salty fries.

      • This happened to me when I asked for extra sauce at Hungry Fats years ago. The burger was absolutely soaked from the middle down. It tasted amazing but I'm not sure if it was done out of malice because I've never been rude to staff. It was a very busy lunch rush so maybe someone was a bit cranky that day.

    • Yeah, this hasn’t happened, at least not at my store.

  • +1

What brand of pickles do you use?

    • Not too sure, sorry

  • I have a suspicion that all maccas patties and chicken are halal (im muslim btw) could you check the box the patties and chicken come in and tell me if there is a) halal logo b) who supplier is? Would save me a 1hr trip to closest halal certified outlet Thanks in advance:)

    • +4

Yep, all beef and chicken products at McDonald’s are halal, however some toppings annd sauces are not suitable.

      • sent you a pm - thanks :)

  • How much extra loading do you get for night/weekend/ph shifts?

Hope the SDA/Raffwu are doing the right thing by you

    • I think weekend/night shifts give an extra 25% loading, however this may vary between restaurants.

  • Whats the ultimate custom burger?

Steamed bun or not steamed which is better?

    • I’ve never actually created a custom burger before, but steamed bun is always better than toasted.

  • When someone asks for it fresh, does it really happen?

    • +2

Occasionally, yes. Sometimes we have 20+ orders to get out and unfortunately making sure someone has freshly cooked product isn’t our priority.

  • Any insider known "food hacks" (ie: special order menu or alterations to an existing item) that you'd recommend/share?

    • +5

Get extra cheese on a Big Mac. It tastes really good and is a really nice addition

  • +1

Have you ever considered that the large number of beeps and buzzes in the store are specifically designed to manipulate your thought patterns and behaviours in much the same way as in a room pull of poker machines?

Giving you that little hit of dopamine every time an order goes through…. Increasing your stress level to narrow your focus during busy times….

Now that you have considered it…. Will you be able to go on working there?

    • Maybe it’s all a scheme to get us to work harder…

Will you put the flurry back in my McFlurry if I put in a special request?

    • I’m sure we can do that :)

  • What's the deal with obviously leaving out items from orders? Like they see the list of items, do they not check what they put in the bag and just say that's enough. It seems like exactly what Lethal weapon makes out, they (profanity) you in the drive thru.
