Ford Territory Driver Seat Removal

Hello Members

I dropped a SIM card in the car that went under the Driver Seat of my Ford Territory. It has a drawer beneath it which makes it impossible for Hand to go in there. I am looking for two suggestions please:

1) Is it safe to remove the Car Seat so I can lift the seat and find the item. Won't necessarily need to take it out completely.

2) Not sure which tool to open this Bolt? It's something like this but a bigger size

Thanks

ZK

sticky-tape on a rigid pole, or a ziptie?

I’ve used duct tape on a metal ruler a few times to grab items from car crevices.

Excited to try this. will update

      • Why not get a replacement SIM for $2 ?

        • this one is costing me $10 with more delays

Tried turning it upside down and shaking it?

You will need a torx bit. Probably T25 or T30.

Does the seat have an airbag?

    • seat have an airbag?

      That would be a bumbag.

No, the airbags in seats are in the sides of the seat.

And someone who doesn't know what they're doing could trigger one. That would cost a lot more to rectify than losing a SIM.

Get a replacement SIM and just move the number across?? $2~$5.. or, you know, $50 worth of tools…

Also, if you take the seat out, you will need to make sure that the seat bolts are put back in correctly with thread locker goo and torqued to the right spec. It's a safety issue removing seats, so if you are playing around with it, you need to make sure you do it right. Dont need it breaking away from its mounts in an accident.

InB4: "It's just a seat… no biggie, easy to get in and out…" Yeah, just glad you dont work on my car.

    • But seats are easy to get in and out in my experience. I agree that he should just get a new sim if he doesn't have that size Torx already (otherwise $10-15). Most mechanics wouldn't be pulling out the torque wrench and looking up the specs for something like this.

Probably quicker and easier to just get a new SIM.

Quicker and easier to train a mouse to retrieve that SIM card than to safely rip out the driver's seat and reinstall.

Just use a grinder to cut the brackets, then weld them back together if you can’t get a torx bit, it’s only a territory.

All these armchair technicians with their 'you'll blow yourself up' Mrs Lovejoy-ness.

If you have the correct torx bit you can remove the 4 bolts and tilt the seat back, there is sufficient airbag cable to allow for this movement (otherwise no one would be able to remove a seat). If you don't have the tool I'm sure a mechanic would do it for $10 or a 6 pack.

Anybody who has the right size Torx bit for this job won't be asking if they should do it, it'll already be done

Ive had a similar situation in my Terry. I managed to get the draw out with a bit if force. If I recall there are tabs that need to be engaged to get the drawer out.

  • Be happy it’s a SIM card and not your wife’s engagement ring. Get a replacement sim through your telco. Most will send it to you happily for free with a little ass kissing.

Just make sure you don’t tell them it’s lost, just that it stopped working.

Have ended up taking all suggestions and ordered a new SIM for $10. While trying the tape to the Ruler method only thing that came by were few $2 coins so worth the SIM :D Thank you Legends!
