791

FINAL UPDATE 18/12

100 % of orders and pre-orders that were accepted and paid for were canned, all the details below
So remember, whilst

Centre Com reserves the right to not make a loss

As a potential customer

You should run TF away to shop at another retailer who stands by their pricing - especially if it is their own error - and actually upholds the very statements they claim

Yes this is cheap

Update: Out of stock for delivery
Update 2: delivery and C&C changed to pre-order with price jack, typical Centre Com

Centre Com reserves the right to not make a loss

Update 3: for anyone who purchased the kit at the deal price (delivery, C&C or pre-order), please let everyone know in the comments if you receive it for that price or if you experience any post-order issues

Update 4, the next day and general PSA on Centre Com:

So far, 9 out of 9 orders confirmed as being canned

1. @aq10101 - successfully ordered for delivery, order cancelled and refunded
2. @motion2082 - got overcharged whilst placing an order because of price jack, order cancelled and refunded
3. @CoffeeDrug - successfully ordered for C&C, order cancelled
4. @Pulseless - successfully ordered, order cancelled
5. @tribal - successfully ordered for delivery, given tracking number, order cancelled, details here
6. @TripleJJJ - successfully ordered for C&C, order cancelled
7. @User2049 - successfully ordered for pre-order, order cancelled
8. @zo3y - successfully ordered for pre-order, order cancelled
9. @Godgodgod - successfully ordered for C&C, order cancelled

Pretty easy to see Centre Com are farked, will soft-ban posting any further deals from their store
Free free to use this deal and comment as reference for any future Centre Com deals to warn others of their shenanigans

Update 5, caught red handed

Emails sent to cancelled orders state "I’m contacting to let you know that unfortunately, We cannot fulfill your order due to a lack of availability from our supplier."
The live stock availability shows stock at the Sunshine store that was this morning, pre-order only
2 + 2 = Centre Com are happy to sell at $159 but not at the advertised $109 and it is clearly not a stock availability issue

No need to brag about how brave you are!

        Underrated comment

      • +1

Plot twist, aq10101 is really Dolly Parton.

      • But still cant make any conclusive comments about what gender they might be…

    • Please let everyone know later if the order is processed and shipped at this price

  • +1

Yes this is cheap indeed, possibly ATL.

Next lowest was $121 delivered for same spec Ripjaws, non RBG during Black Friday 2022.

    • +5

At AU$105 for 32GB, the value score jumps from 60% to 95%

The Ballistix kit is a better set of memory but not $50 better

    • -1

I mean, sort of irrelevant since the deal is expired, but just putting this here for general info:
(First, I haven't fully read the article so don't know what factors may or may not change with the info I'm stating here)

The article refers to KF432C16BBAK2/16 while this deal was for KF432C16BB1AK2/32. Besides the 16GB jump up to 32GB, the BB1AK2 is also dual-rank, which the BBAK2 is not (1Rx8, not 2Rx8 as listed on spec sheet). Dual rank performance is usually seen as better, and kits are sold with near identical (if not identical) stats, with only the rank being different.. and of course the dual rank kit costs extra.

Unsure if there are similar dies etc. with the single rank 16GB kit, but would at least state the difference between linked deal and linked article.

  • out of stock for online order

edit - back up for preorder

  • Went to checkout and it's showing $165 :'(

  • Darn. I stuffed around and now price is $165

    • Dang, but it’s not that fast for Ryzen? Are you team blue?

  • +6

Gotta be quick on Centre Com deals

They monitor OzBargain closely so when the deal is too good, they pull the plug or in this case, jack up the price

OzBargain is the reason why this disclaimer now appears at the bottom of every page on their website:

Centre Com reserves the right to not make a loss

    • So essentially any preorders that went through at the cheaper price they will just cancel in the morning?

      • +10

        No idea

If @aq10101 and anyone else who snagged the deal can report back here, that would be good

If Centre Com start playing games, will soft-ban posting any further deals from their store

        • +1

          sure I'll let you know

        • +3

Order was cancelled and money refunded. I ordered while it was still in stock.

          • @[Deactivated]: Appreciate the update

            • +2

@Look Up: @highmargin I got a confirmation to pickup in the morning then cancellation in the afternoon. Rang up the store the first guy said there supply issues and hence order was cancelled then second person said it was a pricing error. I have done some good business with centrecom in the past and this deal wastn like super cheap to 1ualify as pricing error. I am gonna stay away from centrecon for a while.

              • +1

@Godgodgod: Appreciate the feedback, will add it to the list

    • +10

Okay now thats just bullshit, thanks for letting me know so to never shop or make deal posts about them again. What the actual (profanity) is this? 'We want to do business but also not really nah' (profanity) this shit. If they cant fullfill orders for the deal price should have marked it as 'sold out' after a certain amount of sold items, I cant think of any e commerence suite that doesnt have this as an automated function. So they want the ozbargain advertising of being a 'store with good sales' but also they are too cheap to offer actual discount. I mark it 46 minutes after the deal went up on ozbargain on a friday night, and while its a good price its not as its a 'too good a price' for them to stomach neither.

      • +5

You can tell Centre Com are run by bean counters

The credit card surcharge, offering free shipping but then walking it back to $5 for metro delivery, shutting down OzBargain deals after less than an hour

They appear to do a lot of corporate/government business in laptops so obviously the rowdy consumer OzBargain professionals are causing havoc with their systems

    • +3

Centre Com reserves the right to not make a loss

lol, are they being serious? So when they list an item, they don't know their cost?

Price error I can understand. But isn't this bait-and-switch?

      • They are telling you that as a business, they lack the skill to control their pricing correctly

As a potential customer, the only things you can do are to avoid them and advise others to do so as well

  • Have it in my cart for $115

    • +4

PayPal said $115 but got charged $172

      • Thanks for letting us know, OzBargain has broken the Centre Com ordering backend

      • +1

        That's not good…

        • Got a reply first thing this morning saying they will refund overcharge, should get money back in 5 days

          • @motion2082: Are the fulfilling the order for the remaining $115?

            • @Look Up: Don’t think so

To further rub salt in wound keep getting cart spam https://imgur.com/a/DFQeJr3

              • @motion2082: Hang on, they are refunding the overcharge of $57 but keeping the remaining $115 for… ?

And thanks for the cart spam screenshot - their systems are even less consistent than their excuses

                • @Look Up: They’re refunding full amount of $172

Sticks have been marked back up to $169 and I don’t think anyone got to $109 deal

I could be wrong, will stand corrected if I am

                  • @motion2082: OK

Just waiting for @tribal to confirm

                    • +1

@Look Up: I haven't received any further correspondence to indicate that they have cancelled the order, and they have marked the order as "Your order has been shipped".

However, the tracking number still hasn't registered through auspost to actually confirm that a shipment is being made.

                    • +1

                      @Look Up: Final update:

I called Centrecom on the 15th asking for clarification on the tracking number, and Centrecom said they would get back to me via email.
I then followed up today on the 18th about the status of the package, and was told Centrecom would email an update within 2 days, which I have just gotten.

Centrecom claim to have not shipped the part at all, and the tracking number they gave was not valid. Furthermore, the reason they did they did not ship the part was that there was a pricing error, I quote:
"The reason this order is not shipped out yet because there was a pricing error on the website."
                      and that;
"We will be processing a full refund."

Centrecom gave me a bogus tracking number, claimed it was being shipped and only when I called up asking about the tracking number was I informed that it had not been shipped and that they would process a full refund. Reading between the lines it appears to me as if Centrecom never intended to fulfill my order and was more than happy to deceive me and take my money.

                      • +1

@tribal: Appreciate the update - not honouring prices, fake delivery updates, wasting time - that's the full set

Will link to your update in the main deal as a warning to all

  • +1

I ordered 2 for pre-order, will see if I get them.

  • Damn nice deal

  • Just got my purchase confirmation for last night's buy. Fingers crossed that I can pick it up

    • +2

update: Just got the email that they are cancelling my order zzz just when I was on my way to grab it

      • Thanks for the update

  • +3

    Just had my order cancelled…zzzz

  • +1

Just checked email, and I've been given a tracking number and invoice. I have not received any notification that the order has been cancelled.

For reference I bought it before it was set to pre order, and had it delivered through Auspost. Will update if anything changes.

    • +2

Small update: The email for tracking was received at 0010, so was likely processed before the other orders and before the decision was made to can the orders. The tracking number provided is not yet registered on Auspost.

Regardless, I will not be making any further purchases from Centrecom and urge others to do the same.

  • +1

OK, so far 4 out of 5 orders confirmed as being canned

    1. @aq10101 - successfully ordered for delivery, order cancelled and refunded
    2. @motion2082 - got overcharged whilst placing an order because of price jack
    3. @CoffeeDrug - successfully ordered for C&C, order cancelled
    4. @Pulseless - successfully ordered, order cancelled
    5. @tribal - successfully ordered for delivery, awaiting update

Pretty easy to see Centre Com are farked, will soft-ban posting any further deals from their store

Free free to use this deal and comment as reference for any future Centre Com deals to warn others of their shenanigans

    • +2

Ordered for C&C, received ready for collection Email@11:12am,received for cancellation Email@12:15pm.
Obviously, centrecom regretted and decide not to honor this deal…

    • +1

Pretty piss poor from them, their reasoning being - 'I’m contacting to let you know that unfortunately, We cannot fulfill your order due to a lack of availability from our supplier.'

Pre-orders are back up too at $159.

      • Thanks for sharing, this could be Centre Com's professionals moment

  • Just noticed the Sunshine store come up again for C&C, most likely because they canned someone's C&C order for $109 but are now happy to sell it for $159

  • +1

Yeah mine also got cancelled, sent an email asking them to honour the order.

  • +3

Pathetic by centrecom. Cancel people's orders stating they can supply them due to lack of availability but then put pre-orders back up at $159.

  • +2

    11:55am. Preorder cancelled 😔
