Powercolor Radeon RX 7900 XT Hellhound OC 20GB Graphics Card $1629 + Delivery @ PC Case Gear

101

XTX was a bloodbath and sold out instantly, presumably to scalpers.

The inferior XT is all that's left. ~5% lower price for 15% less performance, wouldn't recommend anyone pick up one.
It is, however, around 30% faster than a 6950XT. You decide, OZRRP.

-Edit- some XTX available on "pre-order" (ETA 13/12/2022) from Centrecom - first result:

Personally, I'll wait for & prefer the AIB versions (ideally better acoustic performance / lower coil whine)

-Edit2- looks like they're all gone

  • Great bang for buck compared to 4080.

    Bummer about the 7900XTX

    • +1

So long as you don't care about ray tracing that is…

      • +1

Genuinely: Do people ? Maybe I can't think of a game I play that has RT … Exception being WoW classic which you could turn on RT with a mid level card and be fine I think.

      • Or blender performance

      • +2

People will turn on raytracing for the ooh and ahhs… then after a while they'll eventually turn it back off to get their frame rates back.

insane how amd made the rtx 4080 look good when it was garbage when it came out

    • +7

RTX4080 was never garbage in terms of performance, it's faster than 3090 ti and use less electricity.

it does have a very crap value though.

  • +1

It's unfortunate that all the XTX are sold out already.

  • +2

Updated post with some XTX reference still available for pre-order

    Glad I went a 3080 rog strix for $1200 2 months ago.
Someone gave me shit saying there will be price drops, but seen none, the opposite.
Now scalpers getting the xtx, I was gonna wait but so glad I didn’t.
    I play on 1440p 165hz and it’s been brilliant.

    • Yeah it feels great to get a 30 series card honestly the 40 series is great but I'm very happy with my 3080 Ti.. No more having to make sacrifices for fps increases I just put the settings to what I want and it does it.

Honestly my next upgrade now will have to be my monitor for 4k but my current one is so big I can't imagine how I'm going to ship this to the next owner.

      • What monitor do you have?
My next upgrade is 100% going to be my monitor, I have had my one for 4.5 years, it's been great but will die eventually.
If it can last another 2 years that would be great, that is when I would be ready to upgrade my GPU and my then monitor to ideally a 32 inch 4k panel or something

          Crossover 404K

Bought it from here on ozbargain for $370 + $50 a few years ago

Back then that was the most I could afford now I can get much better but just waiting around looking if something amazing catches my eye.. I can fit I think up to 55 inches on my desk if I relocate my tower to the book shelf but have been looking at 43 to 48 inches with 120 to 144hz just have to read into it more to see what are the differences between the top models.. I'm using nvidia so gsync might be useful to me.. Avoiding OLED because I don't want to deal with screen burn in issues

Yeah happy with mine atm it is OK with media consumption and most games because I sit a bit back it feels more like a console experience at times than a pc one

Actually I'm trying to figure out how I can do a multi monitor setup with my current spacing

    HUB 4k 16 game average:
    6950 XT 84
    7900 XT 94
    RTX 4080 109
    7900 XTX 113

Numbers are more like 12% ahead of the 6950 XT and 20% behind the XTX. Cost/frame is almost as bad as the 4080 at AU prices (which still is terrible value) and that isn't even factoring in the non-raster advantages Nvidia has (power consumption, RT, CUDA, NVENC). At current prices the XT is a waste of silicon.

      ^this

  • +4

Terrible value. There’s a reason why Xtx sold out and there’s heaps of Xt left.

    • +3

Its AMDs 4080. As GN puts it, "classic upsell"

  • +2

Watched plenty of YT reviews yesterday from the big channels, not one suggests to go anywhere near with card.

Don't support rubbish, it's AMDs junk that didn't make it as an XTX.

  • +4

So expensive, will hold onto my 3070 and skip this generation of cards. Both Nvidia and AMD are dreaming with these prices

    • Make it bleed red and green and merge into yellow. Intel will keep treating arc like a rejected step-child

      • Was hoping ARC would be viable option. Intel can make it decent card and have money to do so.

        • issue is will they, intels been failing to sell arc, might scare them out of the market

          • @Pugkin: Chicken and egg death spiral.

Slow sales due to under developed drivers.

Slow sales preventing them from developing good drivers.

Its a shame because hardware is good and market is there. People want a card that isnt a rip off.

  • Honest question, how does the 6950XT for $1069 deal last month look compared to these? My return window closes soon and bought it pending what the new AMD cards would offer? I haven't had a chance to use it much yet.

    • +3

keep it save money, its not worth it imo, like others said xtx version is the one decent model but its oos already and 800aud more.

      • Thanks for the advice

    • +1

Tbh you'd be able to sell it for a couple hundred more than that anyway so return seems irrelevant.

  • +1

80% more expensive for 30% more fps? No thanks

  • +5

Don't bother with the XT if you want this class of card just go directly to XTX. If this falls to low 1000's then it will likely be worth the money.

    • Agreed

  • Did not expect just a small price gap between the two cards in Australia.

    • XT is really awful value. If you can call any of these "new" prices "value". But… it exists

  • How is paying the early adopter tax retail prices a bargain/deal???

    • +1

Domain name change to ozrrp pending

    • Must shill favourite corporation

  • +1

Just checked on eBay, already people scalping, shockers. Never try to be an early adopter for graphics cards

    • +2

Last gen taught us to not be adopters at all

      • +1

Time to go back to my GT 430 XD

    • +1

Can't scalp if nobody buys them.

Unfortunately gamers simply overpay for gpu's. This is what priced out hodlers. Now even those throwing $1200 at gpu's the last 6 years are priced out, and they've always acted like they're all that matter. Talk about being put in anothers shoes

It's merely those who paid $800-$1600 the last 6 years crying about this. After calling everyone else who wanted a <$800 poor. I have absolutely no sympathy for them it's literally perfect karma

  • +2

So what Muppets pulled the trigger on the XT and didn't fork out the extra dollars for the XTX?

    Fools! :D

    • what muppets bought either at launch

    • +1

As soon as I got the notification for this, I went to buy it. Was seconds away from confirming the buy before realising it wasn't an XTX lol.

  • +3

Just had my Centre Com Gigabyte 7900 XTX "preorder" cancelled.

    • +1

Did they give any reason why? I know a couple people that got shifted to ASUS cards instead of Gigabyte as they had low stock.

      • +1

Happened to me earlier too. E-mailed Centrecom after I placed the order asking if it was confirmed and they responded saying yes, I then received an e-mail an hour or so later saying my order had been cancelled.

        • Well, that's a bit crummy. Were you able to grab another card?

      • Yeah they just said the typical "I’m contacting to let you know that unfortunately, We cannot fulfill your order due to a lack of availability from our supplier."
