  • Unavailable?

    • Yep. 100% claimed already.

  • Dang, that went fast.

  • ha, does it actually increase your battery life
Just looks to limit portability and increases bulk
    $75 normal price wtf

    • At $5 I was thinking what else could I do with it. Mini-desk fan?

      • -1

The main thing would be a prop to sit your phone on the desk from what I gather. And if you're sitting in one spot with a wired device you may as well use a computer or TV

        • More so security guards etc or people who work night shift jobs are rather letting there phone play for hours on end so something like this does help.

          • @JPNx: So it increases performance of the CPU and gets longer battery time? Anyone in aircon is already ahead you'd expect

            • +3

@G-rig: Well there is alot of big words in there ad but effectively its just about controlling thermal throttling better.
And yes batteries dont like heat either so keeping them overall cooler will help.

Ambient air temp wont make a difference unless you are watching full screen youtube in a freezer.

              • @JPNx: Fair enough, genuinely intrigued just the first thing I've seen like this.

Just dont think it's an effective enough passive cooling system if on the outside of a case.

Most people upgrade every so often anyway before the phone dies. But for $5 why not - don't know many people that would pay $75. It's just you'd have to carry that and a power bank around but some people wouldn't mind. A Nintendo switch would be a lot better for games.

    • Playing a game that makes your phone quite hot runs your battery down faster so I’d say it would

    • +2

It's a thermal electric cooler (peltier cooler), so the backside can get to very cold temperatures, to the point where moisture appears on the pad area. The fan is actually to cool the heatsink that is attached to the hot side of the pad.

I have another model of these and it can get as low as -1 degree.

That's why the price is $75 rrp. Although, I picked mine up for about $45 from aliexpress.

      • Nice.
Guess you'd have to take the phone case off.
        Risky with most phones.

        • +1

yeh, you'd need to for good thermal contact on the back of the phone. I wouldn't really say this thing is an "on the go" cooler, you really need to be sitting down next to a charger since the cooler needs it to run.

          • @iuselect: Yeah just my point, then you may as well sit near a laptop ha

      • Currently around $19 on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004630079257.html

        • +1

although it's not the same model/brand as the listed one, for a peltier cooler, that's a good price.
