Anyone Heard of Illumina Energy for Solar?

Hi all

I jumped on to the energymatters.com.au site today as I am looking to upgrade our aged 2.1KW system to a bigger capacity. As with energy matters, I expect to get 3 companies contact me. A company called Illumina Energy already have and like most companies, the guy was very knowledgeable and convincing.

Anyone heard of or had dealings with this mob before? Always good to get real world experience when it comes to a sizeable outlay. I am assuming that as they are registered with energy matters that they would / should be reputable.

They have quoted on a 6.6KW system which is about the biggest we can fit on the roof once the old panels have been removed. Total quoted cost is $7490 which includes 16 x Risen Energy Titan S panels, a 5000W GoodWe inverter, removal of the old panels and all install activity on a two storey house. Does this seem reasonable for this hardware and the work involved?

Any info gratefully received.

We just had a similar 6.6KW system with Risen 390W Panels and a 5KW Goodwe Inverter installed for $3449 total (including VIC rebate) through Cerium Energy, so $7490 seems a bit steep

For what it's worth we were very happy with them, they managed to squeeze a 6.6KW system on a smallish roof with old terracotta tiles, which can't have been an easy job

    • We aren't entitled to the Vic rebate, only the federal one.. can I ask how much the total cost was before the rebates and what you were quoted as having reduced for the federal and state offerings?

      • I also wonder if it costs more because of the existing panels that need to be removed. The guy did indicate that it made it a bit more involved be he hasn't shown a cost against that item in the quote. It just says included.

I will give Cerium a call but keen to understand your base costs if you are willing to share (happy to DM if you would prefer).

        • I took up a deal they posted on here, the post has most of that information: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/705566

Base cost without a loan or VIC rebate was $4399, plus a surcharge of $200 for a terracotta roof and an extra $250 for 5 optimizers on our south-facing panels to make the most of our available roof space, so total cost without rebate would have been $4849

They quoted someone in the comments $150 to remove an old 8 panel system, so it shouldn't be a huge cost. They also charge an extra $350 for a double-story roof without scissor lift access. Big fan of their up-front pricing structure, seems like an honest mob

So that should be ~$4899 if they'll let you take up a similar deal, or around $5.5k at retail price
