Is the Oculus Quest 2 the best VR headset to get? Does it have the largest games library? Now that they are more affordable I am thinking of getting one.

    • +2

It used to be $479, it is now $629. Not really more affordable

      • Well, more affordable than before any of the quests was my interpretation.

I've now had the Quest 2 for a year and it is brilliant for the price. The games available are increasing each week but get it for Half-Life:Alyx which is a brilliant game that takes advantage of the VR. It's spooky how real it seems. There are also a ton of free games available on SideQuest and it is so simple to set up. Only advice would be go for the largest capacity as possible. I brought the 64GB to save some $$$ but I'm forever swapping out games/apps due to size

        • People keep telling me to get half-life alyx for my Quest 2. Is it only through steam or directly through Oculus?

          • @lonewolf: Looks like it's just Steam. Currently $35 down from $88 until the 6th. Haven't had a chance to play it yet, but felt like I should buy it.

      • You can pickup new from FBMP for around $400.

    • The 3rd gen is coming out next year so I would wait a bit more. It's the simplest headset to use as it can be a stand alone thing

Its being announced late next year. Most likely out 2024. Long way off.

Best as in highest spec? No.
Best as in compromise between cost, capability, versatility and performance? Yes, probably.
Biggest game library? Sort of, yes. It can play games by itself but can also be hooked up to a good PC to play the PC games too.

    • +1

It doesn't have the largest library but you can also play PC VR games on it if you have a setup capable. But for the price it's the best VR headset.

    • +1

Yes. Arguably the best, but clearly the best if you factor in affordability. Playing games without a PC is suprisingly useful and handy, since it removes one of the most messy bits. The quest 2 can basically run anything - either directly or via PC VR (via wireless connections).

  • Thanks, queued it up

  • Thanks, boofing it up

Nice. Was willing to pay for this one. Thanks

  • Thanks for posting this skd100!

  • I paid for this, and still support the idea of having more players in on it.

I don't even have a VR headset and I grabbed this. I'm definitely getting the vibe I'm a digital hoarder.

  • Was anyone forced to sign up to some horizon thing? What the hell is it?

  • So would this work on a valve index? Or only oculus?

  • Is there a reason why I can't find this on the Oculus (desktop) app?
