Sonos Beam Gen 2 $544 Delivered @ Living Sound + Vision

220

Thanks to the enablers of ozbargain, I just bought a new TV and have been searching for a soundbar.

The beam seems like an ok standalone solution, if you don't need Bluetooth.

Looks like a new low although possibly not for long with BD around the corner.

The fact it doesn’t have Bluetooth at this price point is somewhat laughable. Decent deal otherwise?

Not a problem if you are in Apple ecosystem. But pretty annoying I cannot use Bluetooth to use as a PC speaker.

I have the Sonos Arc - also no Bluetooth - don’t find this to be an issue however I use Apple devices. Not sure how easy it is to cast music from Android devices.

    • Its very easy to cast music from Android phones

I’m in the same boat and after some intensive research it came down to this one and the Bose Smart Soundbar 600. I pulled the trigger on the Bose last night from JB, as it’s currently on sale and can be further reduced with the Wicked Wed 10% code (expiring tonight) and stacked with Ultimate GC from Woolies also at 10% off, so net price just under $600 (>25% off RRP, not bad for a recently released unit). If I’d seen this price for the Sonos, the decision might’ve been a bit tougher, though in the end the lower profile of the Bose was also a factor given how low the new TV sits on the stand.

Awesome deal on the Bose. I feel Bose could of stepped up a little bit more on the sound quality and RRP compared to the Sonos Beam 2, especially being a newer model. It sits in an awkward price bracket close to Samsung's mid-tier range unless you can get a cracker of a deal like yours.

Yes, from what I could tell both of these are supposed to be solid standalone soundbars for small to medium rooms if you don’t want to spend extra on a subwoofer and surrounds (but want the optionality of adding those later).

I gather the Bose has true Dolby Atmos vs the virtual version of the Sonos—but I wouldn’t be surprised if most people (including me) struggle to tell them apart—as well as a bit more ‘smarts’ and Bluetooth. However, the Sonos apparently has a better ecosystem (for multi-room connectivity, etc.) and a slicker app, and supports DTS whereas the Bose doesn’t.

Don’t think you can go wrong with either, so price does become an important consideration if there aren’t any other critical features one has over the other for a prospective buyer.

I have the Gen 2 Beam and 2 Ones as surrounds. As a l small footprint Sonos setup it’s great (though I have no other reference) and being a Spotify streamer I’ve never once considered the lack of Bluetooth to be an issue.
Great value at this price - considering a second for my Xbox setup.

  • For those who are on Android, you can stream it from your phone via the Sonos app with the music you have saved on your phone. There are plenty of method of how you can obtain music on your phone. It is different to how apple play words where an idevice can output it's sound to the speaker, an android can only output audio file or service (music) channel

    • Does spotify connect work on android? Thats been what has stopped me.

        Yes. It works very well.

      • yes, even with the free Spotify account

Q930b for around 600 on catch. Use that to price match at JB or TGG. Much superior soundbar comes with sub and rears.

    • Sadly, JB don't sell it anymore and TGG won't go below $1k.

Pair it with 2 ikea symfonisk bookshelf speakers! Makes a massive difference. There’s plenty for cheap on fb marketplace.

Price match it with JB HiFi via live chat and then use the 10% code to bring the price further down to $490.

Literally just left to go to gg and now thinking might have to go jb instead lol

Cannot apply code with negotiations price

      • Yes, you can. I got the Sonos five with price match and this same 10% code.

Get on a live chat and ask for the price match, do not ask or mention this 10% discount. Once you have the direct link from the live chat for the product with updated price, go through normal check out process and there you have an option to apply the discount code, apply the code and get the additional 10% off.

        • +1

i did. The 10% discount cannot apply on negotiations product when i apply the code

@Steven123: just update on JB hifi. I only can manage to do both price match and code together is go direct to the in store ask for price match with staff then ask check out team apply the code at pay reception. Stack with 15% gift cards I got last time at coles, bring it down to 430.
Hope it is a good price for that system.

          • @Steven123: Hmm.. I don't really know why yours didn't work online, but mine did that was couple of days ago.
Anyway, glad that you still got it via going in store.

          • @Steven123: Yeah didnt work for me either.. code is only valid until 12 tonight.. not sure if I just buy it at 544..
