Hey all,

I've been keeping an eye out for another set of true wireless headphones as I've previously bought an Elite 7 Pro in June and they've been great for work. Been wanting to get an pair for my partner and had my eyes on their new Elite 5 for awhile now and saw that it's gone to an all time low (I believe) of $139! Hard to say no to that price for a Hybrid ANC True Wireless…

Upon browsing I've also seen,

Elite 3 - $77

Elite 4 - $119
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/jabra-elite-4-active-anc-…
Elite 7 Active - $159
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/jabra-elite-7-active-anc-…
Elite 7 Pro - $179

Elite 85t - $179
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/jabra-elite-85t-true-wire…

Great thing that Amazon is doing the same prices so, next day delivery is a no brainer for me. Hopefully this helps with someone looking for a Christmas present!

highly recommend the Jabra Elite 85T

Funnily enough my favourites are the 75t of what I've tried.

My breakdown of the Jabras I have tried (use for running, commuting, calls and listening to music); NB I have small ears:
      - Elite Active 75t - pick of the bunch for sound and fit excellently
      - Elite Active 65t - second in line, not too far off the 75t but the sound in the former is slightly better
      - Elite 4 Active - The fit is not as nice as nice as the other two and when running the thing comes loose until you get really sweaty which helps with the seal. I dislike the change in not having the buttons outside (they're an integrated button which makes using them a fraction harder to do when you are running). Sound is okay
      - Elite 65t - Sound is better than the Elite 4 (the sound is identical to the Active 65t); the coating on the 65ts make them sit better on your ears when running (I rated the 4s higher only for this reason)
      - Elite 85t I hated these. The oval tip made the fit really insecure and the would get loose when I walked briskly. The sound was also awful; too bass heavy and even playing with the equaliser they were droning and harsh.

As reported by the person I spoke, to the mic rating of the above are as follows:
      Elite 4
      85t
      75t
      65t (both versions)

I agree. 75t active were perfect, and 85t felt like a downgrade in a few ways

      • So does it mean that 85t is better than 75t only on the noise canceling part?

        • +1

From my experiences, noise cancelling and the mic were better on the 85ts.

The noise cancellation of the 85ts are only as good as the fit though. If they don't fit you well, and you're trying to get them to stay in your ear (like I did) then any benefits are a mootpoint

      • Had serious issues with sound balance with the 65t - mainly the left bud's volume being lower if I recall correctly. A replacement set had the same problem.

I get a less severe but still annoying (probably unnoticable to some) version of that with the 75t, again with two separate sets. Sometimes power cycling and reconnecting will centre the audio, but too often it's slightly off. Cleaning the little holes is one potential fix but doesn't seem to be the sole source of the issue.

If it weren't for that they'd be pretty close to perfect. Probably try the Elite 7 at some point and hoping the issue hasn't carried over again.

        • That's interesting. I had that same sound issue from my Active 65ts but that only happened after nearly two years of hard use. By that I mean I used them I mainly used them for running (10km in around 45-50 minutes, three days per week) as well as on gym and light cardio days.

Thankfully it hasn't happened on the other 65t or 75t.

I got the Elite 4 as a warranty replacement for the 65ts because of this sound issue (sadly they had discontinued the 65t active so could only get this as a replacement).

So far my ownership of the above have been 65t (both types) about two years, 75t 4 months, Elite 4 about 2 months. The 85ts lasted a week and were returned to Jabra under they 100 day satisfaction guarantee

          • @Gunnar: my elite active 75 are less than 2 years and just been a total nightmare. the left airbud needs like 10 tries before it turns on and now all of s sudden the right Airbud volume is (profanity).

I need a new pair but reviews still place these as the best for active use but I'm scarred

  • Is the sound quality better on the 7s or the Beats Fit Pro?
    Not concerned about call quality

    • +1

I've previously used beats and found over sound quality is better on the 7's, high's and mids were great and bassy enough for my preference. Beats were too bassy for me personally but good for some others i presume

      • +1

        Which model of Beats?

        • Had the powerbeats as i was using them at the gym/running

Jabra Elite 85T is cheaper on Amazon.

  • How does these (specifically the 85T) compare to galaxy buds?

    • -2

I have recently purchased the Buds Pro 2 and they are awesome, great sound quality all round, noise cancelling was great on my recent trip on a plane. I have had the galaxy buds all the way from the beginning and these are by far the best. However, i can't compare to the Jabra's as ive never used them sorry

      • for me, Buds Pro 2 were worse than Buds 2 because Buds 2 sit deeper in the ear, resulting in a better fit and tighter seal which is crucial for ANC and sound quality

Pro 2 don't reach as deep into the ear channel for me, and while sound quality felt better compared to Buds 2, they just couldn't provide a good seal and ANC felt shabby and worse than Buds 2. also it feels like build quality is actually better on Buds 2

for my recent flight I took Buds 2 along and wondered why did I even want to upgrade. good ANC

so there's that. for me, Buds 2 > Buds Pro 2

Both of you did not even come close to answering what Heracles26 asked.

  • arghh i want one of these deals but nothing fits in my big ass ears - all falls out!

PS. I just bought the bose sport earbuds deal on here and changed out to the largest eartips and still falls out
I decided to gamble on the new Bose because the old QC20i that I have had since 2015 - their size L tips are fine
But the new Stay Hear Max tips are not big enough even on size max = 2+

Anyone else with big ears or ear hole have a solution. I cant do big headphones as need for cycling

Not sure if it will definitely help but have you tried any kind of memory foam eartips?

I feel like it could help but am uncertian.

      • Foam tips would work well, but you have to be careful with TWS cases as some tips won't work with charging. The SpinFit CP360 is designed to with with TWS IEMs. They are nice and grippy and work well if you're having fit issues.

      • +1

I did try Comply foam tips many years ago. I'll see if they are still around but I remmeber they got dirty very easily and was not very appealing to put back into my ears - didnt matter when I was a uni student but now that my budget had increased …getting precious

    • Buy aftermarket tips.

    • +1

from what i've researched previously, Jabra's products use the same tech as hearing aids as their company started from that. This was the main reason why I gave it a go and bought my pair in the first place a few months ago as I initially hated anything in my ear as it felt like crap. Maybe give the 7 actives a go? Test that shakegrip for us =D

      • yes I heard something similar. MIght have to give it a go
The amount I've spent trying different in ear buds thanks to my unorthodox ear :(

  • Both colors of the Elite 7 Pro are now 164.65 at Amazon

  • Used JB Hifi extra care(that cost me $26 more) and replaced my almost 3 yrs old 75t with 7pro for free plus another year of extra care(Thanks to the sale price, just cost me $4 more).
Very happy with the replacement as it gets me a handy wireless charge base and better sound quality as per rtings

  • 7 active or 7 pro, for better fit while running/exercise?

    • +1

definitely the active. My pros are great for work but actives i believe is geared for your purpose

  • rtings really love the Elite 3. High quality breakdown of all these buds.

  • +1

Which of these has the least noise pickup?

Had 65t active. Currently elite 7 active.

No one can ever hear me if calling outdoors on the 7’s. giving me the shits a bit
