Coles Free Lollies/Cookies/Ice Cream

I noticed the deal has been taken down, but can we still redeem the voucher? I got one printed out earlier.

MOD: See reason why it has been unpublished. It's an error on Coles' end and the voucher cannot/should not be used.

I must admit I'm seriously surprised that people are so keen to misuse a code that a company has clearly issued to a limited group in this manner.

Clearly Coles made a mistake in assuming people would be honest, but do you all have to rub my nose in how keen you are to defraud the company?

Is it really that hard to sign up for this discount? Or have people on OzBargain decided that stealing and cheating are just other forms of bargain?

It's a coupon….. If it was published in the newspaper, would you have an issue with people getting multiple copies? Doubt it.

We live in an electronic world, and if companies are still stupid enough to not realise that this stuff will happen, then it's egg on their face, not ours.

      • -3

You justify it to yourself however you want. I still see it as borderline shoplifting, especially after the shop made clear that the offer was being misused on OzBargain and users still linked to their own copies.

        • I'm not trying to justify it at all, because I don't feel the need to.

        • -2

@Postulative: I missed something - who asked you about your opinion?

      • Yet their oversight/stupidity/incompetence is no excuse for dishonesty.

        Or is it?

    • +2

It makes you wonder how people can live with themselves. It really does.

      So… what's everyone's favourite flavour?

  • dont worry got it

I got in trouble today! The lady said to me 'i've already seen you here twice, you do realise your only allowed to use the coupon once'

    :(

    • +1

lol did you use the self-checkout?

  • Most stores are cleared out; it was a mad rush to the biscuit aisle as people clutching stacks of vouchers realised that the ice cream and lollies were gone.

  • ozbargain is making me fat, poor and dormant. Gasp. It's a conspiracy i tell you!

    • Back to normal after tomorrow is the last day :p

      • +1

can someone send this to me please

  • -1

So, those who used this more than once, how many times?
I have a 'friend' who used it for 6 boxes of cookies and 1 lollies = 7 total.
Has anyone used it more than say 10 times?

    • +2

Its not shut down just expires tonight. Its a great deal

      • -6

And of course the crooks don't like their actions named, so they neg any posts that tell it like it is. No surprise.

        • +6

how is it stealing if i scan stuff and the system refuses to let me pay for it? At the very most what i'm doing is unethical, but certainly not illegal. Come on, we've all done that at some point. You know, using someone else's VIP card/membership card/frequent flyer points to get discounts. Don't call it stealing just because the discount happens to be 100%.

        • -3

Are you a coles circle member? If so, then you are entitled to "one offer per membership".

If you are not a coles circle member then you are fraudulently using the voucher. Justify if how you like (eg the system lets you do it so it must be ok)… but at the end of the day unless you legitimately obtained the voucher, its fraud.

        • +2

          It's not fraud.
The coupon clearly states one offer per membership.
Anyone without a membership is not bound to those conditions.
As long as you never reused the same coupon then you did nothing wrong. Reprints are fine.
IMO the blame for the abuse of this lies squarely with Coles themselves for making a non unique coupon.
Unethical to take advantage of this - maybe - but fraudulent - NOT. IANAL.

        • You calling some of us thieves? *** NVM

        • u guys got trick by coles marketing team. they knew this voucher has been leaked on this forum, they know this voucher has been spread. no way they can stopped. what they can do is stopped and issue new voucher with different bar code and inform all their store not to accept old voucher, but they didn't.

hiring market research company for food testing is not cheap, it cost them at least $50-80/person to do food testing (once i have done ice cream food testing, i got paid $40 for 30 minutes trying 4 types of ice cream) - so the market research company should get more from the company that request this food testing.

They allow people using the old voucher, it cost them RRP in their book, in reality, may be cost them less than $2/box, even someone took 10 box, it cost them $20 or may be less compare than if they have hire this market research company.

They got effective marketing, people would like to try their product because of "free", once you tested then you might think their product has similar taste than similar branded product .

        • +2

Well my 'free' product testing I can confirm the cookies are amazing. Will definitely buy them, they are better than the branded ones!

Would true crime be this creamy and have a crisp chocolate outer shell?

  • +1

    how did I miss this.

    • +2

Two types of people. The quick; and those who haven't got freezers stuffed full of half-broken ice creams.

      • And those who wasted them on lollies.

        The lollies are AWFUL.

Consider that some free feedback Coles Circle goons.

        • Lollies today are crappier all round, more like chewey plastic.

Kid's now have the most awesome toys that I am so jealous of, but they pay for some of that with having crappy lollies.

  • Agreed with robinsoa about the lollies that is why I did not bother getting any even it was free. Bought them in the past end up throwing them in the bin.

  • Mine are still in the cupboard, no one has bothered to open them

    • Me too didn't get any lollies, I don't think they are good.

Ice Cream is a bit too sweet for my taste and Cookies is the best out of 3.

  • guess it's expired!

  • The Cookies were the best, not too rich or plain. I thought icecream was a little plain and flavourless. Didnt bother with lollies.

    • flavourless? Except Choc the others are too sweet doesn't like ice cream.

      • I only tried the almond one, the choc coating was ok, but the vanilla icecream was a bit dull imo- didnt taste like icecreams you get in tubs.

  • Do these still work?

    • Coupon is marked as ending on Monday 23rd July.
I reckon Coles would have been pretty keen to make sure its stopped then.

  • Well. The voucher is obviously erroneous — even Coles has admitted mistake on their part which was why we took it down in the first place. Again, it saddens me that some people deliberately tried to rip off merchants knowing that those vouchers aren't meant to be used. New low for some of the OzBargainers.

I am closing this thread as Coles ought to have closed the hole by now.
