Any Interesting Suburbs to Go This Christmas (NSW) ?

Just want to stay at Sydney this Christmas and have some time to enjoy the local suburbs.
Any suburbs recommend to take photos and have a nice cup of coffee?
Thanks

I heard Cronulla is a riot

Redfern used to be. Now i can’t even afford the coffee.

  • Only problem is a lot of local suburban cafes will be closing over the Christmas/New year break.

Just drink a Dare and eat a Balfours choc donut from BP, it's 99% the same thing.

    Mt Druitt, Yagoona, Camellia.

Parramatta has changed heaps in the last few years, starting to get a much better vibe about the place too..

Cabramatta or Canley Vale is always interesting, just go with an empty stomach as the food options are great.

Milsons Point has some good cafes by the train station and its just a short walk down to the harbour

The inner west, probably has something..

    • Parramatta has changed

Paramatta CBD maybe… the rest not so much.

      • Just dodge the train station and the Westfield.

    Second St, Ashbury

    • Christmas lights? Thanks for sharing!

    • this.

First and Third Street also has some displays but Second does the best job.

  • Chinatown will be open for food

    Nowhere west of Bondi.

      Bondi is grossly overrated.

Nah Bondi is beautiful. It's the people/crowds that ruin it.

    • Or east

      • Or Bondi

Take a drive to West Head for the views then on to The Water Front cafe at Church Point. Get a table upstairs.

    Don't go on weekends.

    • This is a good recommendation!
      Thanks

    Merrylands after dark…

    • Merrylands during the day is bad enough.

  • Well, there's interesting … aaaaaaaaand there's interesting.

What kind are you looking for (no judgement)?

    • Take a drive to West Head for the views then on to The Water Front cafe at Church Point. Get a table upstairs.

      Something like this

      • In that case, you're going to be looking at places along the beaches from Manly to Palm Beach. Plenty of walking and other things to do around Manly itself and adjoining suburbs whether in the beach, North Head, or North Harbour districts. Similarly around the Palm Beach peninsular out to Barrenjoey and adjoining localities (including Church Point).

Similar things to do around the eastern harbour/beach suburbs, although over rated IMHO unless you're into people watching.

You'll steer clear of most of the other type of interesting in these places.

        • Thanks for the ideas, just google map and found some interesting places in those suburbs.
          Looks like more to explore.

  • North Head is certainly worthwhile,

  • Try eastwood night markets on a Saturday evening.
