Favourite Christmas Traditions From Childhood?

Thought it was time for a bit of positivity and nostalgia.

What are your favourite Christmas Traditions from childhood?

Apart from decorating the tree, my fav would be baking sugar cookies with my mum while listening to Christmas music. She had this giant box of cookie cutters and I got to choose whatever shapes I wanted. The cookies looked a mess as my mum let me loose on the decorating but they tasted great :D

  • Guarantee of getting a new game of my choice for my Nintendo. The cookies and music and decorations and stuff were fun, but in the pre-internet days as a kid I lived for my Nintendo.

opening presents, though now I'm older.. there's no more disappointment in the presents I buy myself

    • Wish it was true for me.
I can still buy stuff and it ends up being crap.

Every year when the decorations would come down, Dad would let me intentionally break a bauble (we had the glass ones) because I always had to be super careful around them

I don’t quite get the logic but it still brings a smile to my face

That's lovely. I wonder if he just figured, shits gonna break and you just have to learn to be ok with it. I really connect with this tradition.

My grandmother purchased us (2 other siblings and myself) a Playstation 1 and a few games.
I remembering sometimes at 2am I would sneak to the lounge room and turn it on, making sure the tv was on mute πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
It was absolutely nuts! Now I have PS5 and barely play the thing!

    • Yes, oh to be young and free with endless free time to play PlayStation!
