What Would Be a Useful Gift for an 8 Year Old Girl

Hi everyone looking for suggestion to buy a useful gift for a friends daughter who is turning 8. All I know is mostly kids have most of the toys, so looking for something interactive other than the regular supermarkets toys that is useful and can help develop some skills and entertaining .
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks šŸ™

Plenty of options. I recommend jewelry which can be worn for a long time. You got options like pandora, Swarovski, etc…
Fitbit ace 3 is 50% off on Amazon

Why get real jewelry when you buy skins using V-bucks? She'll be the coolest 8 year old in Oceanic servers.

    • Barbie doll or Brats doll

For a friend's daughter? I'd be asking the parent for suggestions.

Always a proponent of suggesting bicycles for kids. Far too many adults don't know how to ride one, best they start early.

Far too many adults don't know how to ride one,

Definitely one of my top regrets, also not learning to swim as a kid.

Geez. We actually don't have any achievements to mention at your funeral. Time to get to work on those life milestones Jimothy šŸ˜‰

I just watched Mark robbers new glitter bomb video, so maybe a subscription/box to his crunch lab? Though I haven't l looked into it, so no idea if they ship to Australia.

        • I didn't know there was a new video!
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWeu2dxHRDg

The Crunch Box is a bit pricy at $299.40. Looks like they post to Australia.
          $24.95 / box
          Billed annually
New toy to build each month
          New video exploring each toy
          Free shipping
Save $60 by enrolling for 12 boxes

          • @Loopholio: I've seen KiwiCo recommended on some educational Youtuber's and podcasts - maybe consider that instead of Crunch Lab.

Can also buy individual boxes rather than a subscription.

Side note: they're not New Zealand based or anything, it's just the name.

    • All the modern ones we've had have been utter garbage.

I received a silver charm bracelet around my eighth birthday and still treasure it. Family members would buy me charms when they were travelling and all tell a bit of a story.

8 year olds are now less into toys and more into digital experiences or books.

Books that are appropriate at 8 years are: Bad Guys book series, any of the childrenā€™s book series written by Anh Do (comedian), any books written by David Walliams (comedian), The Treehouse series of books by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton.

Ask the parents what they donā€™t have. You can buy these box series quite cheaply on Amazon or Big W

Things my DD enjoyed at that age, that lasted for more than 5mins included: board games, Harumika fashion design set and a fit bit

  • Floor puzzles

    Washable paint set

    Inflatable pool

    Music instrument

Money, probably a weird one, but when I was young, I wanted money. In that way, I could save up and buy a more expensive item that I actually wanted overall.

A book she will enjoy enough to develop a love of reading

Something she can read to others, short stories, or factual books if she is more a nonfiction type of kid.

The joy of reading brings the skill of self educating.

Any learning toy though - a keyboard (with headphones) if she is musical.

  • Ask her what she wants.
