This is pretty good! $319 on Amazon with $100 Phillips cashback when I got it.

Really easy to use, cleaning is a bit annoying! E.g. I've left some dough in there came back to a heap of fungus! So need a deep clean, it pulls apart and ~can get into the nooks.

It's really clear when the dough isn't right.

    • Would you pull the trigger? So tempted at this price but cleaning is my biggest concern

      • +4

Cleaning is not that bad, let the leftover dough dry for about 30 minutes and it should be easier to clean, I also put the disc in the freezer for 30 minutes and it's so much easier to clean after that.

I'd buy it again for sure, traditional noodle making is just a lot longer process.

It definitely makes e.g. instant noodles that much less appealing if you're into trying to eat a bit more clean

I'm making more stocks and quick meals which suits my household e.g. udon is easy af (even though it's only $1 a packet or so)

  • I've had one of these for about 5 years. It is super easy to use and really not that hard to clean. I've made plenty of spaghetti and lasagne sheets over the years. I've even made dumplings once before. For pasta, I use about 80% semolina and 20% plain white flour, with one or two eggs (depending on how much you are making). If you eat enough pasta, it's a great investment

    • How good are the dumpling sheets? If they are good I might as well buy one

    just used mine tonight :D

If you're having issues, its probably the dry/wet ratio - i just go with 500g dry to 190g wet and it works everytime

    • What if non gluten flour would your ratio still work?

    Excludes WA Remote.

You can just use a Universal Remote.

    • So Western Australia don’t get a remote.

Apparently they have to use it manually

        • Really stretchin’ for that 100,000th comment jv 🤣

          • @B Wat: which one is that?

For the record I thought this was a funny joke

        OK, I'll send you this…

  • I have this. Used it half a dozen times in 12 months ehhhhh. I find measuring the ingredients an issue because the recipes in the book mention weights/amounts, but the measuring cup provided just has the number 1 and 2 on it. No other measurements.

  • any good vids of it in action

  • It's easy to use and pretty much idiot proof. I just use plain flour and water most of the time. Still gets good results. Occasionally use tomato paste. Have also used squid ink and that's excellent. Used mine today to make parpadelle.
By the time it takes you to bring the pot of water to boil you can almost finish making a two cup serve. By the time it takes you to cook the pasta you can almost finish hand washing most parts.

    • How did you make parpardelle when it dsays it only makes fetuccini, penne, lasagne sheets and spaghetti?

  • Its hard to use if you want to make rice noodle! Anyone knows?
Loh si fun or kway teow can make too? Any sifu cook know how?

    • which kind of rice noodle you wanna make ? i can send you some recipes , its all on youtube

      • Yes please. Making non gluten noodle is hard. It has no rigidity or adhesion. Or its too britte. It need at least 95% wheat unfortunately to work.

        • oh, i have this recipe with no wheat , you can try to make loh si fun

          200gr rice flour + 40g tapico starch+ 1tps salt ( mix well ) + 1tpsp vegetable oil + 150gr boiling water ( mix well )+ 100 gr potato starch

mix well together then we can use the maker now :)

          • @thib: Wow you are really sifu. I tried so many ways cannot work. Will try your recipe. Thanks a million.

            • @ozbar: another tip for this one : you can steam the fun little bit til it little wet and warm then put it back to the philips , it will make the fun soft and better when eat :)

  • Hmmm.

I just received delivery of this manual roller today!

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B000T28YKC?psc=1&ref=ppx_p…

I hadn't even considered getting something automatic.

It's primarily for my teenage daughter to make pasta. Probably mostly lasagne and spaghetti. Hopefully, she'll try to do dumplings too. What do people think?

Is it significantly harder to clean than doing it by hand?

Should I return it and order this one?

    Aaah!

    • Go for the Philips. It's actually easy to clean by hand and if you are feeling lazy most parts are dishwasher safe. Manual rollers still need you to hand make the dough

      • Thanks.

That's pretty much what I decided. Just feels better with the approval of a random fellow ozbargainer!

  • So buying this from ebay big W online should still be eligible???

    • +1

Yes they will email you the tax invoice.

      • I bought mine on the 24 and still don't have the tax invoice

        • The warehouse might be closed due to public holidays and reopen tomorrow for processing.

        • Have you received your tax invoice Jackson? I placed order on Big W eBay on the 23. No invoice, not yet shipped, only had a order confirmation.

          • @missyu: No, and I called them and they said they are a bit slow atm, but the rep escalated things twice, although I think I am going to screenshot he order and put it in. The last day to claim is today, and the invoice date I was told will be the date it was picked and packed, but it will have an order date of the 24th, so they should be able to go on that. Either way if it doesnt go through we can always return it

          • @missyu: After speaking to the big w rep I decided I would just complete the process using order confirmation, and while I was doing that I read that Philips will accept order confirmations as long as it shows all the details. Should be fine, just jump into your email and take a long screenshot and it should do the trick.

On a side note for some reason the form didn't work for me in chrome on my mobile, It refused o load the page.had to use a different browser

            • @Jackson: Isn't the final claim day 27 Jan 2023?

              • @missyu: Haha, you don't need to ask me, you can check, but yes I just checked and it's 27 Jan, so yeah could have just done it next month, not to mention that I bought it from big w and didn't get the 15 bucks off from ebay, and it could come back in stock.

i bought in jb hifi and need to wait delivery on 23/1 , i have submitted the confirmation order but philips rejected it and asked me for a valid tax invoice , :( then i asked jb hifi for that but they replied the tax invoice only came when delivered item ( they pack stuff with tax invoice together when shipped ) , i have sent email to philips and ask but they didnt agree, i need to cancel the order from jb hifi .

  • Had to buy from big w, paid 15 bucks more but still probably the cheapest I have seen this unit go for in a year at least.

I did notice that kogan had one for 95 bucks with first, anyone tried that one and can vouch for it?
