Are you sure its 24? These look to be a case of 16 only?

    • +1

      It's 16

  • Looks like 16 packs to me and I swear I saw some coopers beers (mild and and sparking) in one of those deals, in going back they were gone.. Maybe been on the turps a bit early :P

    • +1

No you're right. the secondary link "Explorer Pack" has Coopers Mild and Sparkling.
And the main link includes a James Squire!

  • 16 beers for $60 isn't a deal, even for craft beer :(

    • Depends what beers. Plenty of craft beers are $100+ for a carton of 16

  • 16 beers - with a few rubbish ones in there to boot.

    • Yep, although the chance to try a range of beers might appeal to some.

Some reasonable choices, some average ones. $60 feels like the price it should retail at the most not the quote special price.

  • Yep, it's 16. My brain this morning thought that 2 rows of 8 cans in the image = 24

Not that great of a deal now. Move along!

    • Don't be so hard on yourself. 16 craft beers for $51 (after 15% CashRewards) is not bad at all.

  • No deal for me. $60 for 16 beers, including 4 Tinnies to pad it out.

  • Also, alcohol gives you cancer and permanent brain damage, even having 1 std drink per day.

Evidence? How many days does it take? How much alcohol?

Hundreds of things - including the air we breathe - have associated cancer risks. Whether they're significant is an entirely different matter. I'm inclined to believe that there is a link between alcohol and cancer risk, although after reading an expert's (Robert Matthews) expose of scientific claims based on incorrect understanding and misuse of statistics, bell curves etc there's probably good reason to still have a healthy [lol] skepticism.

Some alcohol isn't worth the risk, but I'd happily drink a can of the Bentspoke Crankshaft (Red Nut is even better imo) daily for month and undergo some tests if you'll stump up for the costs OP. :-)

    • Plenty of links here for ya mate: https://hubermanlab.com/what-alcohol-does-to-your-body-brain…

I've been drinking for decades and stopped a few months ago. Never felt better and looking forward to an easier life later on.

I def miss a beer after work or a red wine with a steak but I'm convinced the risk is not worth the reward.

      • There is no definitive evidence that having 1 std drink a day will give you permanent brain damage. A recent Oxford study - which was announced this year - cautioned that other things could equally be at play in their findings. Correlation is not causation. This itself should be a red flag to any decent researcher, and a classic example of what Matthews says is shoddy science.

      • Still eating the steak?

Been plenty said about red meat and cancer.

        • This is where igaf theory holds true. Red meat studies are usually vegetarians vs omnivores. Omnivores include fat slobs that eat processed foods. Sure there are probably some unhealthy vegos but since those people are already making a choice about their diet, maybe their diet is better than some omnivores.

End of the day, red meat will always be healthier than alcohol!

          • -1

@7hours 44min ago: Both are probably okay for many people when consumed in moderate amounts. Depends on your genes, your exercise, the amount and type of red meat you consume, your general diet…..

Many alcohol studies are based on excessive and binge consumption and are still correlative rather than causative. In his book on chance Matthews gives plenty of accounts of "scientific" studies which made the jump from correlative to causative, and which were later proven to be clearly wrong. It's known as spurious correlation. He also dismantles the statistical claims of the risks involved in certain studies - often massively overblown by both the researchers and the media, who blindly repeat the erroneous claims. Still, better to be aware of possible links than to be oblivious. It's also wise to understand the limitations of studies and have a healthy skepticism of claims of links, and the actual risks.

  • How many standard drinks?

  • Lol most of these are not craft; however, If you have not tired the Fox hat one, try it! Its one on my favs.
Can you get Fox Hat outside of SA?

Local firstchoice (WA) stocks the metric ipa and red ale. Also been picking up the metric ipa at aldi for $12.99 a four pack, have seen it 3 times in the past couple of months but it's not consistently stocked
