Can't Find Mobile Internet for NSW 2736 (Tooleybuc)

Hi, cannot seem to find an Internet provider for NSW 2736 (Tooleybuc). When I try Whistle Out/Finder etc. and click on a provider it says not available.

Surely someone has mobile internet for streaming in remote areas. Starlink Satellite is hit and miss with speed consistency.

Thanks

Might be lucky to get some 2G

Actually Tooleybuc has both Telstra and Vodafone 4G coverage.

      • In theory. In practice coverage along the VIV/NSW boarder is a hit and miss for allot of towns.

  • No answer for you but I stayed there twice on the way to/from Adelaide, and it is a lovely little town. The bridge is cool

  • I visit koraleigh sometimes. I get decent telstra 4g there, average Optus (amaysim) 4g
    Terrible vodafone 4g

Many providers will refuse to provide a 4g internet service for a particular address because the associated tower is maxxed out or reception is spotty & they dont want to bother with the service calls providing there would require.

Solution is to just get a sim card service & a 4g router, dont actually get a "4g broadband" plan. The Huawei b818 is the most popular model on the 2nd hand market that isn't slow garbage. I use one myself, works great.

If your reception is borderline a directional 4g antenna (two for MIMO) will help. You will need a router with external antenna ports & the right cables/adapters. Just remember at the frequency 4g operates at any length of cheap coax cable will quickly eat up the gain of any antenna. You need either low loss (high cost) cable or mount a modem in a weatherproof box right next to the antennas & run an Ethernet cable down to a router inside the building.

Looks like there is an optus & telstra tower on the highway just before the turnoff to Piangil & another optus tower at Kyalite caravan park. Figure out which tower/provider is better, get a mobile sim, use it as a data sim. If you want to see if getting up higher/an antenna will help a cheap way to do this is to get an unlocked phone, put a sim in it, turn on its hotspot & put it up high. Using a rope over a branch & sending up a tree is often the easiest way. That or stand on the roof. If download/upload improves, an antenna would help. If you get zero signal (as opposed to a bad signal), an antenna likely wont help without significant elevation.

If you want to be a real tightass get cheap sims on deals posted here & keep activating new ones for the cheap new customer deals. The boost sims with 100% or more cashback have been my goto for a while now. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/747238
