Harvey Norman Rejected Order Due to Gift Cards

Finally swapped my Shopback 28 Degrees promo gift cards to Harvey Norman $1250 worth and a $100 TCL promo gift card good until 2025.

Did the online purchase order at Harvey Norman for $2000 loaded up the gift cards no problems and paid the outstanding $650.00 on Paypal.

First email arrives.
Thanks for placing your order with us. It is currently being reviewed by our online team

2ND email @ 11PM last night
Thanks for placing your order with us. However after careful review, we have decided to not accept your order. We apologise for any inconvenience.

WTF There's no mention of, The money will be returned to your PP account and the gift cards??..
There is no phone support and would appear that their process is ran off shore considering the time of email was sent.

Seriously How can they run a business like old school Mafia? I never liked HN after he pushed for GST on imports below $1000 but this is service you'd expect from a scam site.

Any advice on how to get my money back and smear Gerry's nose in this crap he's left me in.
I'll keep people updated.

  • Had this happen with a dji mavic, The money was returned to me before i got the we not accepting your order email.

The store does not have to accept your order nor your chosen method of payment.

As long as they havent taken the money.
Or if they have, then refunded the money to you within a reasonable time period.
Which, with this time of year, might take longer than normal, as the responsible "office" workers are on annual leave.

And they did apologise already. You missed that so I bring it to your attention.

      Thats it. End of story
Now stop complaining and wait for your refund (which may have already occurred)

      • Your attitude is just as offensive as the actions of Harvey Norman.

  • Can you go in store to purchase, instead?

      Unfortunately online only item

      • +1

online only items are not supplied by harvey normans normal suppliers or stores, they are dropshipped. so probably the dropshipper rejected it.

  • +17

Why the hell are you buying anything from that scumbag?

    • Because No other Big Bucket of Scum had the item for that price.
Had to Succumb against my better judgment.
      That's Kama

  • Bought a brand new product 20% over retail from HN to take to a job site.
Unpacked in a hurry to present to a 10 mio plus client.
Turned out it had a manufacturing fault! Client lost a 7 digit figure as no photos could be taken!
Took back into store, they let me wait 65 minutes while talking to each other the ushered me away that the box was damaged and refused any warranty!
Franchise owner lives very close to his darling that works at OFT QLD!

Waiting for the ACCC to take action!!

We all love Gerry the new god….

Elaine Benes would upvote your comment but as she's not here, I'll do it instead.

Sounds like piss poor planning on the contractors behalf if 7 digit figure was at stake ;)

      • +2

If I buy a product to to certain work I should be assuming that it works, if not the retailer should rectify the situation in a timely matter.

Selling a product with a manufacturing fault and then try to get out of warranty is the typical HN culture like taking covid money and let staff suffer.

When JB and TGG merged our good friend Gerry threw a tantrum that he was excluded from negotiations.

The ACCC had enough complaints against him that they did not want him to grow. Now we have a virtual duopoly for regional customers.

Anybody that still shops there should have their complaints restricted to "Whingepool" .

BTW the client losing big money was a former "call" girl who did not know how to handle money. I really feel sorry for her kids who should have deserved better.

Buying a product last minute without testing, when 7 figures is involved, is the definition of piss poor planning :/

Name your company, I will certainly avoid it :P

@7ekn00: If you can show that your have a 7 digit figure, well lay it on the table they say!

            • +10

@payless69: Way to deflect! But I would not expect anything less from a piss poor planner!

              • -3

@7ekn00: Ok plan your wedding at HN if you love them so much. Other retailers have a proper planing to deal with faulty products!

                • +12

@payless69: Decent contractors test and know their equipment BEFORE it's needed ;)

Piss poor planners blame everyone but themselves ..

I have never and would never buy a mission critical piece of equipment from HN - LOL!

                  • -5

@7ekn00: Seriously? I could have saved money on not going there. Client was not leaving time to shop around. Such situations happen all the time.
Now I learned my lesson so I go to HN for free coffee and buy essential gear from a reliable supply.
I see many small shop owners buying multiple trolleys from Coles just because their wholesalers have become too much of a pain.
Plenty to dumbo's falling for large advertising campaigns every day!

                    • @payless69: Or some of the small shop owners didn't plan well either.

                      • -2

@kiitos: Looks like all the HN fanboys are out negging.
After all the stock there has to move, goods working or not.
Blessed are the believers, others spend their money on worthless junk. So what it eventually gets dumped anyway.

How do you know that the order was rejected because of gift cards?

  • +2

Original headline post was Gerry's a thief period.
New headline is false Gift cards hasn't been established being the reason for rejection.

A professional business would explain funds received and not in the letter of rejection.
    They're stating I'm fraudulent.

  • +1

    That's for dealing with Harvey Norman… 😋

  • +2

There's no mention of, The money will be returned to your PP account and the gift cards

They didn’t accept your order so they shouldn’t have taken any payment in the first place. Have you checked the gift card /pp balances?

    • C/C reads Paypal pending. Gift cards I want my money back if they rejected them once. How do I know they're not going to waste my time and do it again

  • +2

I ordered for someone else with gift card+credit card, the order was not accepted so I told the other person to order himself with his card then he got rejected too. WTF? Probably they don't want to take our business so that they don't have to give 10% worth gift card but knowing we will order again without the gift card promo. MFs!

Harvey Norman online something else. They have almost no customer service options, no phone number and the online chats never get answered.

  • +6

Dear oh dear, some people never learn.

I know it goes against the OB ethos, but sometimes paying a few dollars more to avoid the monumental pain that HN, Jetstar, Qantas, et al, will cause you, has to be the most expedient and best financial outcome. Always remember, your time and sanity has a price too - and it's worth more than a few bucks.

    • +2

      Not True
I only ever saw Havey norman stores as being a bunch of over priced wankas. Running scams like the old Monster HDMI lead worth $4 selling for $200 and the GST import sob story to the unsuspecting.
Only from today did I think he's a thieving piece of shit who is also a wanka

      • +3

Agree with everything you say - you just said it more politely.

As future OzBargainers may be reading this, modesty forbids me saying what I really think of HN.

      • yeah i see myself on staff tried to sell that cable to an old lady.. seriously..
and another one said you must buy anti virus when getting new laptop.. MUST… and then office suite.. MUST
        whatttt pos

  • UPDATE
    Email from Paypal money returned
All gift cards have been used
t looks like this gift card has already been redeemed.
They have stolen $1300 from me so far.

Rang the 02 9763 number they said they'd call back recorded message. Hoping they'll do it before 2045 I don't like my chances.
They;re making feel like a Nigerian Russian hacker ATM

    • So what ended up happening with the refund of the gift cards?

Same story just happened with me… wish I had seen this thread before lol.

TL,DR Summary: Don't buy stuff from HN regardless of the price

      Can't agree more…

No surprise, last HM order took me almost 1 year to have all items shipped…I had millions calls to them and eventually someone knows what happened… OMG, what a shit business and their staff especially online team do not work at all. How are they get paid. LOL!!!!

  • I have recently had two very good experiences with BETTA Electrical. They price matched my new freezer, and took $80 off my best price on a new fridge, and happily took BETTA gift cards (which I purchased elsewhere at a discount) in full payment. If you are in Melbourne, try their Knox store. Their sales people are on salary, not commission.
